The teacher is supposed to a woman but for live action shows they often cast men for the role as not many women have the right build or deep voice

matilda was a stage musical long before it was a movie; that's why the trunchbull is being played by a guy, because that's what her part was originally written for. it's been on broadway, too! you should check it out!
