Awesome setup I love it.,
Thanks!!
Have had a Gen-Y gooseneck for 5 years on our Grand Design Reflection. It's been great and no issues. I use the same B&W ball as well no issues. Safe travels
That’s fantastic! It’s really good to hear it’s held up that long for you, hoping ours does as well. Any tips and tricks as the gear ages that you have to share?
My Blue one works great, even 5 years after purchase, but would buy another one when needed.
So glad to hear it's held up well for you! I suspect the main part of the hose is made with the same materials. For us, the ends on the black hose are just so much easier to use.
I watched this video because I was interested in knowing what I could do there for a limited amount of time. I am looking on taking a tour bus from Las Vegas. Great video, but I think I still I need to do a little bit of research. Doing two provincial parks in one day would limit my time to 90 minutes and I don’t think that’s long enough.
Glad you enjoyed the video! You’ll love any amount of time you spend in Zion, but 90 minutes at any National Park will limit all that you can see. Still a great place to stop if only for a little bit.
I love how informative this is ❤
Thanks!!
I bought a warranty with my brand new 5th wheel. They were a complete garbage company!! I was out of pocket over 6k because a sewer line broke and they didn't cover any of it. They are a scam!!
So sorry to hear that!! We've had things both covered and denied. So many loop holes they can try to use to get out of covering something. Also had a factory extended warranty on our Jeep and same experience. I think people have to remember, these are companies trying to make a profit. They are not there to protect the consumer, they are there to make a profit. Sometimes they have to cover a claim, but lots of times they have a clause in their agreements that lets them off the hook.
We installed the exact same model in our Georgetown. Easy install, works great and like you, we hide it under the bed when not in use.
How’s it held up for you over time?
Crafty !!!
Thanks!
The entire video is blurry!!!
Hi Jamie, there should be a link at the beginning of the video that explains how to adjust your video settings to account for the app which sometimes lowers the playback quality. Or, here’s the link to the video as well: Campground Virtual Tour Fuzzy? How to improve picture quality ruclips.net/video/2LwfCEt40-k/видео.html
Perfection love this idea😊
Thanks! We’re really happy with how it turned out!
wheres the aux fuel tank
We got our truck with a 50 gallon tank from the factory. So far so good, hopefully we don’t need to add an aux tank, or we’ll have to find a place to add that as well 🙂
My sliding screen has been an issue on my Thor. Finally broke. I’m definitely changing to the bug wall.
You will love it!
Well I hope there's more bolts than the one gold bolt I see in your gooseneck
Thanks for your concern. There are 10-12 bolts attaching the gooseneck to the RV. The hitch was installed at the dealer prior to picking up the unit. Why they mix/matched colored bolts makes no sense to us, lol.
What about the ground wire that's in the cable? I didn't see that you attached that to the cat 6 connector. Thanks.
So...I wrapped it around the main cable and made sure it was pinched against the metal casing of the connector on the end of the cable. It might not have been the right way, not sure, but it's been working perfectly fine for us. I've have this setup running for the past 1.5 years almost full time and have not seen any issues...Hope that helps!
@@this-mobile-life that's good news. We added the connect on the outside but haven't tested it yet.
Nice! Hope it works great for you. We just upgraded from our Airstream van to a Brinkley 5th wheel and added a new connection ourselves. We'll be putting out an update video showing where we installed this one as well :-)
Hello thanks for the video. Question, I have a new 50amp rv plugged in shore with an adapter to a 30 amp plug. Just running the ac and fridge right now and batteries are draining slow(not charging). Do you think im just not getting enough power from the plug or could it be something else? Thanks for your time!
Hello! Congrats on the new rig! When you step down from a 50 AMP cord to a 30 amp outlet, you will have significantly less power available to use. In a normal 50 AMP connection, you have 2 hot legs in the wire, each with their own 50 AMP breaker (effectively you have access to 100 amps of power). When using a 30 AMP adapter and 30 AMP outlet you have 1 hot leg and a total of 30 amps of power available. That being said, a 30 AMP connection should be plenty of power to run a single AC and fridge, while keeping the batteries topped off.. What exactly is happening could depend on a lot of variables. Are you sure your batteries are going down/draining? Or are they going through a charge/discharge cycle? With our first RV, our battery charger had a range where it would run a charge cycle and fully charge the battery, then it would stop charging and allow the 12V devices (lights, water pump, etc) to use some of the charge in the battery. Once the battery got down to a preset voltage, the charger would kick back in and fully top off the batteries, and start the cycle over again. Charge, drain to preset, charge, drain to preset, charge….. Could this be how yours is configured?
@@this-mobile-life Ive been on shore for about a week and I have not noticed a cycle. Ive turned the fridge off and my battery seems to be holding a charge, but its not being topped off. Battery lingers where it had drained to prior @ 25% or so. Ive got a new adapter(with surge protector thanks for that advice) arriving tomorrow and we'll see if thats the culprit. If not the only thing I can think is, charge the battery and/or have a 50amp breaker and plug installed. Thanks again for the great video and reply! Ill return if I get it figured out and let you know what was going on. Ive got alot to learn.
So weird! A few questions.... Do you have a volt meter to manually check the voltage of the battery? Knowing what the voltage is at would help indicate it's true state of charge. Do you know if your RV has an inverter or a converter? Do you know if your fridge is powered by AC or DC? Do you have any solar? If you want to share the year, make, and model I could see if I could determine how it came from the factory... :-). So sorry your having to deal with this...not fun when you're trying to enjoy your new RV!
@@this-mobile-life Its a '23 Cruiser MPG. Wired for solar, but no panels. Another youtuber said this EverChill fridge runs on 12V only which is why I turned it off, and that did stop the battery from draining. Inverter and converter should be good. Btw no change with my new adapter. Just ordered a multimeter, so ill investigate further when that comes in.
Nice overview !!! Hi friends ❤
Hi! Thank you 🤗
Great overview of your setup! Now let’s see a video of the Brinkley!
:-)
That is what I wondered. Thanks
You bet! Glad to help!
On that RJ 45 plug do you break the tab off it so that you can unplug the connector while traveling?
Hi Kathy! Removing the tab is not needed. The connector we used holds it down when it’s inserted. The connector itself has its own latching mechanism to hold it in place when connected. Hope this helps 😁
no guard rails? that one looked like it just was game over.
The speed limit was pretty low and everyone was driving carefully. But yeah! could be bad if someone was driving crazy!
thanks for your help!
You're welcome!
None of the screens we have looked at have the bottom attached. thats a deal breaker, bugs can enter...
Hey, thanks for your comment. We were worried about that as well, but really never presented an issue for us. We were in south Texas for quite a while with really bad mosquitos and really only had an issue with them getting in when we opened the screen to get in and out of the van. When we were inside at night with the doors open, they would pile up on the screen, but didn't seem to find their way in. If we had to do it all over again, we'd totally buy the same screen again. One thing to note, this screen is weighted at the bottom, and as long as you install it correctly without a big gap at the bottom, the rests nicely on the step of the van.
I, too, highly recommend Gypsy Guide Tours, now known as Guide Along. It’s an inexpensive, phenomenal app that is like having an incredible, knowledgeable tour guide sitting next to you as you travel the national parks. We’ve used it in Yellowstone/Tetons, Maui (Road to Hana), O’ahu, the Utah National Parks and the Grand Canyon (used it for the Grand Circle this past Spring). Read the reviews. It has thousands of all 5* reviews.
Wow thanks for the helpful video! Personally I use HomeFi and its worked great for me! I use their portable hotspot device which connects me to the nearest strongest signal and I've had no issues using it on the road.
Thanks for sharing
blurry video
Because of the size of 360 video, RUclips will sometimes play at a lower resolution if your internet speed is slow at the moment. You can manually override this in the RUclips settings. Here is a video that discussed how to do that to see a higher (less blurry) picture ruclips.net/video/2LwfCEt40-k/видео.html
Great tour and instruction. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks!!
Special place. Visited & drove thru canyon w my father almost 25 years ago. Hes passed since & I will always remember this trip until I pass. Words really can't describe the beauty. God is great! ❤
Thanks for sharing!
You do not get 100 amps from a 50 amp breaker.
Correct….well sort of….with a 50 amp RV hookup, you are pulling two hot legs (line 1 and line 2) connected to double pole 50 amp breaker (two 50 amp breakers switched together). These then share one common neutral and one ground. In effect, an RV setup with 50 amp hookups, has two 50 amp legs or lines. These legs are spilt in the RV’s breaker box to serve different loads in the RV, such as multiple air conditioners and appliances. In effect there is 100 amps of total electrical service available on a properly setup 50 amp RV hookup, but it up to the distribution panel and wiring configuration in the RV to properly distribute.
It is a recreation, and is not even the original site. Don't pay money for this.
We enjoyed it, and the kids had fun exploring the area. We also didn't have to pay anything to visit and check it out. Worth the stop if passing through.
We love spending the day in Springdale ❤ 0:53
Thanks for your comment!
Just watched your video on RV electrical systems and surge protector. I hit the like button and also subscribed to your channel. The odd thing was I noticed was I'm your 666 subscriber 👹 LOL!!
Welcome aboard and thanks for subscribing!!
I wish I had seen your video before buying the solution I have now, because mine (a different product than your) is not working.
So sorry to hear that! Any chance you could still return it? Our has worked and held up very well!
Crap video - showed us nothing
Sorry you feel that way. Our goal was not to put out a step by step install video, but rather to show something we did that has worked very well for our internet connection needs.
Had ours a year it's the best
So glad to hear! We agree!!
Glad you stopped by! My family owns the land and museum, and I live just a few miles away. It’s just a couple of busy ladies who run the place, who can’t be there all the time, unfortunately. If you’re ever in the area again, call ahead, and they’d be glad to give you the grand tour! It really is worth experiencing.
Wow, thanks for responding. We had a great time and enjoyed exploring the property.
Surely your gonna put the cable in something underneath ?? 😳
Hey! So we zip tied the cable up to the frame and have not had any issues with the cable being under the van. We've taking the van down some crazy "roads" (if you could even call them that) while out boondocking many times and never had any issues. We also siliconed the back of the plug to help with any water intrusion. It's been rock solid for us since we installed it.
Trying to understand if I need an inverter or converter in my trailer. It will be hooked up to a generator 90% of the time. At night I’ll turn the generator off and still need some interior lights, outlet for a phone charger etc. The trailer will need AC and DC power but I would like to charge the batteries while the generator is running and when driving down the road through the trailer/truck plug if that’s possible. Does this require an inverter or converter? Thank you 👍
Sorry for the late reply! You likely already figured out the answer, but in case not....If you want to run anything AC and you're not connected to your generator or shore power, you will need an inverter.
You didn’t show how you plugged the van the 30 amp cord
Sorry we didn't include that part. Most RVs have either a hardwired cord or a twisting lock that connects like a dryer power cable. It's a big round plug, that plugs into the side of the RV, then twists a little to hold it in place, followed by a screw on collar to make sure it does not come disconnected.
You can pause the video and still use the 360, also you can slow the video down in your settings..the music will slow down as well
Thanks for pointing that out! That’s how it’s intended to be used. Thanks for helping everyone else out 😀
How does this seal the bottom? Looks open on the bottom?
Hey. It is open at the bottom. When it’s windy you can sometimes see a little gap at the bottom, but it’s never been a problem with bugs or anything for us.
Do you need batteries, or can I disconnect them while on shore power??
Hey. This really depends on how your RV is built. The batteries often run your low voltage (12V) devices such as lights, control panels, etc. Some RVs have a convertor that converts shore power into 12V while plugged in, while also charging the battery. Normally, the battery(s) are left connected all the time while using the RV in most RVs.
Nice to know this option is there. Thanks!
Your welcome!
How much did you pay for this? Perfect Location!!
Prices vary depending on where and when someone buys. There are options starting at $70k and up depending what type of property you buy and what amenities are included (water, sewer, electric, concrete pad, deck, RV port, etc). Many of these are listed on the local MLS real estate sites like realtor.com, redfin.com, etc.
Looks like the only thing you're missing is a dog!
Ha Ha Ha
Love the practical advice, thank you!
Thanks for watching!!
I was thinking the van essentials? A bit cheaper. Have you tried it? Thanks.
Hey, thanks for watching. are you talking about this one? amzn.to/3Uy9RQ2 We haven’t tried that one, but it looks very similar in how it is installed. I can say the screen we showed in the video has held up very well to 2 years of full time use by a family of 4 and is really well made. As long as the Van Essentials is made of similar quality, it would probably be good too!
Great information!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! I have to do this to my rig as well. It has been like this for a year or so and the loose and slightly shaking cap actually caused the mirror to loosen over time and as well. It looks like you are using 8 x 3/4 self drilling screws. Can you confirm?
Hey! Thanks for the feedback! Sorry to hear you're running into the same issue. Other than this issue, we never had another single major problem with out Tiffin. So strange this seems to be a common issue! They were indeed self tapping metal screws. To be honest, I cant remember the exact size. I think at the time I just picked screws that looked like they'd go in far enough but not to far. Ads far as our repair, it held strong and we never had another issue before we traded out of the rig for our next rig. Good Luck!
