I appreciate Arie vardie, who was the teacher of the great Italian female musician, artist and pianist Beatrice Rana and I'm also a big fan of Michel Beroff who recorded the whole piano works of Igor Stravinsky . His performance of "trois movements de petrouchka " (EMI) ist the very best from all available recordings.
This concerto is not difficult as it seems and it is indeed a very wonderful experience playing with three other players and a conductor.
Colleen Lee recorded for NAXOS.
I wonder if Vivaldi listen to this magnificent transcription of his concerto to 4 violins in B minor.
Thank you so much for sharing this interview with Murray! What a gift he is to humanity!! ❤ 😍
To be so young, so dedicated to the classical music culture gives all of us hope , inspiration and a new confidence in life. Yuja Wang is the personification of what can be achieved through discipline, hard work, sacrifice and reaching out to perfection. Nobility and beauty still exist in the hands of this great artist-pianist.
The goddess of piano! 👍💯💖
Obviously she is not a morning person but she is so gracious in obliging the interviewer’s request to play the piece ❤
Magnificent playing.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
1064をピアノで聴けることは少ないので嬉しいです。
Why do so many recordings of this work list BACH as the composer? It's by Vivaldi--Concerto for 4 Violins and orchstra--in a transcription for 4 keyboards by BACH.
The many recordings Listed J S Bach Concerto for 4 keyboards (usually Harpsichord) after Vivaldi BWV 1065.
Why would you put a "B" as his middle initial?? He never used it.
He is a Maestro, and genius. Matsuev, Volodos ...
unique . Bravisssimo!!!
This is amazing! 50+ years ago, the Music Academy in Jerusalem was next door to the Foreign Minister's villa, where I saw Abba Eban twice outside. Now it's below the Windmill and right across from the Old City! A miracle! And Arie Vardi, a bit more seasoned, but still the host. Wonders never cease. And I will try to write this in Ivrit.
perfect as a pianist, perfect as a woman!
Perfect as a human
Gluck so beautifully played ❤
Yuja we love you ❤
I enjoyed this Miss Wang, thank you. 👍🌷🌷🌷 (N.L.)
What piano is he playing? Bosendorfer or Steinway or something else?
👏👍🌹❤️
This is the most heartfelt interview I have seen with Yuja Wand. Thank you Arie Vardi. I felt I got closer to who she is as a person and musician.
The interviewer seems a bit senile, like at 20:15 he suddenly says we would now like to watch on RUclips when we played a piano concerto together on stage, and repeats the word RUclips a couple times, but never says what the piece is! All I got was that it's a big deal to him that we have this wonderful thing called RUclips where we can watch something we did together - whatever that was. Anybody here recognize it?
This interview is from 2010, and the RUclips concept and viral video's still a relatively new concept to many...
Uma de minhas peças favoritas
OMG I Love Her 🥰
Interesting ra'ayon, interview. And all in Ivrit and no subtitles! And from the recent appointment of Lahav Shani, this interview took place recently, unlike many Intermezzo programs.
What a fabulous performance! I was transfixed. If I could ask Arik - why did he pursue his entire career in Israel? So many musicians leave Israel for Europe and the US and have a very weak connection to Israel. I admire his connection to the land.
Radkoczy March! He has such a breadth of style - from Mozart Rondo to Liszt. A real virtuoso. I see Arik's admiration of this young pianist.
I read the subtitles as they speak, and I learn new Ivrit expressions, like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", יופי בעין המתבונן - they speak slowly enough that I can absorb the Ivrit. Especially since they are both very articulate and indeed, poetic.
Thank you, Tal, for posting this, from 2008. We need to preserve these wonderful programs.
first time i ever saw her play a piano that was not a steinway!
That place is EMPTY! What a waste. Mvmt III cadenza is so good it hurts.
Wow. I never heard concerto no. 18 like this. Marvelous!
13:25 Mozart Romanze♥
That story of Horowitz is a defining one of Matsuev, more of a football player than a musician. Athletic but empty.
A beautiful transcription of the Schubert's Fantasie in C major, Op. 15 (D. 760) by Franz Liszt. And an excellent performance by the orchestra and pianist Francesco Piemontesi. Thank for posing this.
Beautiful
Beautiful dear Arik my dear teacher ❤️
It is so great - her playing, her talking, everything pure beauty and Nobility. Absolutely great! 🎆
What a wonderful enrichment to my life when Murray Perahia performed in Seattle for years, and even offered a master class. I will never forget the first time I heard him: the Chopin Barcarolle opening the first recital I heard. The first 12 measures literally raised the hair on my neck. I was transfixed by the rich tone, intonation, and pure magic he gave to his audience. His artistry changed my life dreams, and so led to my small accomplishments after studying with Patricia Michaelian, who worked with Mr. Perahia at the Curtis Institute under Rudolph Serkin. This remarkable musician changed my life's aspirations, so while I didn't pursue a career in science, I am so very grateful to have struggled and bumbled my way into a life of music. it is sheer joy
When was this recorded?
Very emotional and hearfelt playing. Beautiful dialogue . I feel the music in my body and soul.
One key nugget of wisdom that Barenboim says only four minutes in, is "Don't practice when the concentration isn't there, because then something mechanical enters your playing."
Spectacular, so moving!
Beautiful!
There's one thing I don't believe of Maestro Matusev's words: "I practiced just one hour a day!". Well....Is that true or doesn't it show a kind of "special mystery"? I myself went to music conservatory when I was young and practiced on a daily basis 4-5 hrs a day. Later on I studied also jazz piano in the US and in Europe. After this I visited the medical school and I make my money as a general surgeon. Not this much time today but when I turned 55, suddenly I was able to play Stravinsky's "trios movements de petrouchka", "Rach 3" and all the pieces I was unable to play while being a student at the music conservatory in my twenties. Today I play maybe 2 hrs a week because I'm always busy. But I don't need to practice that much to perform on a high level. I guess that's possible now because I gave up to become a professional musician early and nowadays I'm relaxed enough to play better than some of the so called "graduated concert pianists". My teachers always underrated my talents and gifts but today I can call them "idiots" and I can lough about them and about myself!
I respect Denis Matusev, a great musician who won the International Tschaikowsky Competition . This guy playes on a very high level all works of the important Russian and European composers on the one hand. On the other hand he's a great jazz musician at the very same time. Not too much known on the international stages of the globe. But that does not mean that he is one of the top musicians of our entire world!
A maestro with a cheerful soul😀
