What Can You Do For FREE In Amsterdam, 🇳🇱 THE NETHERLANDS?
Просмотров 4732 месяца назад
Amsterdam is much-frequented, overwritten about and in many aspects overpriced. That aside, it's a city I can say I almost loved. It's bold yet classy, busy yet welcoming and certainly extremely diverse in gastronomy, architecture and nationalities. In fact, I arrived at a time the weather was wet and chilly but for a city offering so much, my mood was far from dampened. There is a certain beau...

Most POPULAR Meat Dishes Found In 🇧🇦 BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

Best free things in Amsterdam: Libraries. As in most countries they are completely free to enter and to read books there. You only need a membership if you want to take books out. The main branch near Central Station, OBA Oosterdok, has amazing views of the old town from the top floor on the outdoor terrace. Great for just taking a break from its all, especially when you has a long day or it started to rain. Big sections of books and magazines will be in English. Its a huge building, 7 floors I believe, with nice little spots everywhere to just sit, read some magazines and enjoy the views. Also free is the nearby rooftop of the technology museum NEMO. Especially on nice days the huge roof is an amazing spot to chill out with again very good views of the old town skyline. Another perhaps less exciting thing, but very important are bathrooms. The most fancy department store in the city, De Bijenkorf (The Beehive) right at Dam Square has amazing bathroom facilities on the top floor. Technically they are only for customers, but all visitors can use them and they are not going to check if you actually bought something. A lot of churches are free to enter too, like the large church youll see right as you exit Amsterdam Central Station, the Sint Nicolaaskerk, the one with the two towers and the dome. Its not very old, like 150 years, but the interior is nice because its a Catholic Church so its not as austerely decorated as the many Protestant Churches. There are many more free things of course like all the public parks and whatnot, but these are perhaps some less obvious tips and are all right in the centre of town!

@@makingjourneys Oh forgot one but also very important: The tap water! Its very high quality because its natuarally filtered in nature reserves along the coast by the sand dunes. Its actually better quality than most bottled water. So always bring your water bottle and fill it up for free in places like the library or the department store bathrooms I mentioned. Buying bottled water in Amsterdam is literally trowing money away!
