Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Drum Cover by Robert Orosz)
I long time wished to cover a song from the one and only "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" album of RHCP - it's one of those industry standard masterpieces, where the style and song writing of the band has has reached it's peak, the mixing is top notch and the music is fresh and inspiring to this very day.
I don't need to introduce Chad Smith and his incredibly groovy playing and energetic stage presence, he is an idol for a reason to beginner and advanced drummers alike - hence my humble tribute to him and his iconic drum beats in this song.
I also thank the rest of the band for creating this timeless piece and as such all rights reserved by them.
This is the usual one-take recording where drums are ...

Cathexis - Red Hook (Drum Cover by Robert Orosz)
At last! I've been practicing very hard to improve my right hand lead and overall speed to cover an extreme metal song so here you go with "Red Hook" from the band Cathexis (USA)! Technical death metal - and especially the dissonant type - is my favourite genre of metal in the last 10 years and "Untethered Abyss" is one of the best albums of 2021 so I felt obliged to cover a song from the band ...
Intronaut - Digital Gerrymandering (Drum Cover by Robert Orosz)

A new drum cover of my favourite song from the progressive metal band Intronaut. Danny Walker's playing gave me a lot of inspiration throughout the years and coordination exercises for a lifetime LOL. :-D I am immensely thankful for the rest of the band as well for creating this masterpiece and as such all rights reserved by them. Let me also thank the author of the GuitarPro tabs AsslessChaps ...
Katatonia - Rusted (Drum Cover by Robert Orosz)
Katatonia is a band with too many good songs to count but I knew I had to pick one: "Rusted". To me their album "Great Cold Distance" had the most innovative arrangements regarding the drums which kept me stunned for years when it came out. Daniel Liljekvist's playing is truly original and I thank him and the rest of the band as well for giving us such a unique musical experience. As such all r...
Porcupine Tree - The Sound of Muzak (Drum Cover by Robert Orosz)
The Sound of Muzak was the most impactful song on my early years of drumming from progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. Gavin Harrison is a legend due to his intricate yet tasteful playing and through his own live drum videos he taught me how to add to the music subtly by playing unique patterns with style and elegance. Learning this track back in the day educated me in unexpected ways and help...
love that song. great job man! couldn't have done it better
Fantastic cover, love your original style as well
Excelente cover colega!
Thank you! Its 3 over 7 if I am not mistaken.
Muy buena ejecución de un intrincado tema . Felicitaciones desde Chile
Gracias Domingo, muy apreciado!
absolutely devastating you have so few subscribers and views, damn, this cover is fantastic
Thank you - it’s no wonder, I am on and off of hiatus due to family/health reasons, but hopefully I get back to business this year!
Flawless cover, and fantastic production. This song is really the pinnacle of metal song writing for me, Intronaut's way of weaving that odd something 16th note groove into the more fluent 8th note parts towards the ending is just mesmerizing.
Thanks a lot - and agreed! I am far, far away from being such a prodigial drummer as Danny but I just HAD to do a cover anyway :) My playing is def. subpar here and there but I am sure I grew millions of braincells during the learning of this song so it was worth it! :D
Fantastic! I love your feel, my man!
Thank you a lot!
one of the best covers of this song, especially with all those polyrhythms
Thank you, frankly it took me some years to grow up to this song :)
Really great sound
Thank you Cary!
Very unique style my dude. Tight!!!
I am glad you liked it - thank you for checking it out!
Damn, this ripped! This was probably my favorite album of 2021 (song as well) and you nailed that shit.
Thank you - mine as well, far more mature and coherent then the rest of the competition. Thank you for checking ths cover out!
Holy shit, man! I love your interpretation of this song! Definitely taking mental notes on your cymbal work from 1:14 to 2:00. Very tasteful and splashy! Honestly, I had no idea anybody outside of my immediate friends group even watched my videos on RUclips lmao, but this was incredibly entertaining to watch, and absolutely made my day. You're a fuckin rockstar, man! And thank you for enjoying our music 🙏
Wow, the master himself - I am really humbled to get compliment from you!!! Sorry I didn't see your comment before, somehow I didn't get the usual notification about it + my 9/5 consumed me lately... Very happy to hear that you liked my way of covering the song - I tried to stay true to the vibe to your original ideas but also implement my style a bit. Thanks again for tuning in, Cathexis as a band is truely ingenious and I am looking forward for your future work (and videos as well). :)
@@robertorosz2031 For sure, man! I look forward to seeing more material from you as well!
These guys suck but your playing is on point. Good work my friend 🤌
Great humor LOL :D Thank you guys, I am infinitely happy to see you comment under my video! I wish all the success and acknowledgement for the band members individually and as a whole - you truely deserve it! Hope to see you in the future on a Europe tour! Until then, keep up with the badass releases!
Yoooo my dude EXCELLENT cover!
Thank you my man! Was trying my best to at least approach the level of the original :)
Dude you rock so hard
Thanks my man!
Yeah man, sounds killer. The open-handed playing is awesome. Cheers, Spencer
Thank you Spencer!
Cool! Btw the logo is AWESOME!
Thank you Sabina! :)
Great cover, you are crushing it :)
Great groove, you really nailed the feel on this one! Would love to know what your mic setup is - that snare sound is as dry as a bone - love it 😀
Thanks Ciaran! Interestingly enough that snare sound is the first where I didn’t use EQ, just a gate and reverb effect on the raw sound, so here are the key specs: Snare: Tama Metalworks 13x4 Steel snare with Evans G12 and hazy 300 Snare mic: Audix i5 (1 inch above the rim pointing on the center of the head) OH mics: Audix ADX51s at 170cm hight from the ground Room mic: Audio Technica AT2020 (over my head at 2m hight pointing at the ceiling) As you see it’s quite a “budjet” setup, but I spent a lot of time optimizing the location/angle of the mics and working with the room rather than against it :)
@@robertorosz2031 Thank you for sharing! Yes, it is amazing what you can do with a good placement and within the context of the room's natural acoustics. You definitely don't have to spend an absolute fortune to get a good sound if you're willing to work at it 🙂
you feel that beat ! Super great cover
Thank you Stefano - for a metal drummer thats the greatest compliment! :)
Thanks a lot!
Great playing man
Thanks a lot!
Jó lett, hiába vagy morcos :D
LOL mindig az vagyok :D
A 4. percnél azt hittem, Hulk-ká változik :)
Wow, that is not a short song, congrats :) Sounds great as always.
Thanks a lot!
Dude! Smooth af ✌ Such an amazing song as well this one.. God
Ok hadn't watched the whole thing. You're in T H E flow here man. LOVE IT! True octopus! Keep doing what you're doing
Thank you a lot! :)
Really great drumming and mixing! Also, who played the guitar? That was one of the best guitar covers I heard. The sound and the effects were spot on.
Hey Julian, thank you for your kind words! :) My brother helped with the intro part since he is a guitarist but then I couldn't find anyone who is willing to learn and record the rest of the 8 minutes LOL. Out of options I used the tabs of AsslessChaps from ultimate-guitar.com and I pulled it in as midi to a VST called HellRazer. The distorted parts are from this program, the rest is a from of GuitarPro. I just had to apply some reverb or EQ to sound closer to the original, and since it is a machine it plays in time for sure :D
Great stuff dude! So, what is your leading hand/foot? Do you start your fills with your right? Can't tell... Impressive anyhow.
Thank you, I am glad that you liked it! I am originally left handed, but due to right handed rehearsal kits I've learnt to lead with my right foot, while playing open handed with a left hand lead (the ride was also on my left for 10 years). With double pedals however I always started with my left foot. Since we have our own studio to practice, I put emphasis on ergonomics and becoming ambidextrous to improve my right hand and left foot lead so I placed the ride cymbal on my right forcing myself to use my right hand. I found that my balance is much better if I lead with right hand / left foot or left hand / right foot (I am not leaning toward my leading hand this way) and also I can save my spine not turning too much or too quickly towards one side or the other. So it looks like a mess from the outside I know, but it's really advantageous since none of my limbs getting over-used. :)
Jól nyomod! :)
Köszönöm szépen!
sounds / looks great, congrats :)
Thanks a lot!
Awesome drumming 🔥🔥👍👍
Thank you for checking it out! :)

Exelente interpretación
Nice job! 🥁⚡🥢🤘 If you want, take a look at my channel!
Thank you, I will definitelly give it a shot! ;)
Nagyon fasza lett! :) Csinálunk majd nálun is ilyet? :)
Persze! :)
Elnézést a kritikáért.Egyébként nagyon patent.
Köszönöm, szívesen veszem a kritikát!
Sweet!
Thank you my friend! :-)
Great job!! 👌
Thank you!
Awesome sound of drum and cymbals. Don´t know the music but you nailed it. Congrats
I worked a lot on the mixing, I am happy it payed off! :-)
