Why Dont More People Run A 40cc Saw? Huqvarna 543 XP Forestry
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.21 день назад
Husqvarna 543 XP produced by Zenoah (bought by Husqvarna in 2007) Is a light and powerful all around saw, it can take down big trees with no problem and is easyer on the body after a day in the forrest compared to heavier saws. On big trees of harder wood like ash, i prefer to use a 50cc or 60cc saw. Husqvarna 543 XP specs: www.husqvarna.com/us/chainsaws/543xp/

👍👍
Now that's a great chainsaw!
Great, thank you
Have you ever had issues with the clutch or the transmission?
No problems, just dont use automatic gearchange under heavy load.
Have Stihl 241 👌
I almost bought it but landed on the 543 instead, how do you like the stihl?
@ForestryNorth like it good. Bought it 2018
It's a good video
I have a562 it’s a great saw 👍
I want one for firewood. I don't always need or want to lug around a saw that weighs 5-10lb more. With as bad as my back is it would be nice. I use a tophandle saw for firewood quite a bit for that weight lol. Husqvarna is having sales all the time might have to break down and just buy one next time they have one of their sales going.
Ma sai usare una motosega???
Check my channel
You showed why not to run a 40cc saw. You were bent over for quite a long time trying to cut that tree down. My ported 60 and 70cc saws make quick work of cutting down a tree and I am standing up and bucking it once it is down. Much less fatigue on my body.
If you use the right techniques you wont get fatigue on your body, its just healthy for you :)
I older I get the smaller my go to saws become. My woods ported Dolmar PS401 gets used a lot (8.8 lb powerhead). The woods ported blue version of a Dolmar 115i comes out for anything too big for the little saw. Rarely do I start the Dolmar 7900 anymore.
I like the 543 for limb work.
My 40cc echo is great for limbing and smaller wood why wear yourself out if you don’t need to
I prefer big saws with short bars. Muh ms460’s got 18”s and 16”s. Muh 385xp’s got 20”s. My lil 346xp’s carry 16”s but I climb with those and don’t bother ground work with them. Not enough powah
You can do a lot with a 40cc saw if you know what you're doing and don't try to run a longer bar than it can handle. It'll cut slower than a bigger saw, but you'll also need fewer breaks to refuel or to rest. Naturally you can't cut big trees in the PNW or big hardwood; but if you're cutting mainly softwood it can be pretty efficient. That said, most pros do go bigger -- you know, like a Ponsse. (Around me, the people manually cutting are mostly arborists or part-timers.) Looks to me like you're doing pretty well with it.
Very well said, i mostly use it on fir, the 13 inch bar is fast to sharpen if you run into dirt or rocks, limbing the tree is also faster and i get into a good rythm with it. 40cc saw cut slower but with a good sharp chain i dont save much time running a 50cc in theese types of woods.
I have given my small saw away as I don't use them . I have found many times that there ended up stuff that needed cutting that was too big for the little saws. I have never found anything that was to small to cut with my 661. I do change bar length now and then between 25 and 36"
Is a good saw for what it is. But that job just looked painful. Longer bar territory for sure. I mean yeah you cut it down no argument there and if you're happy with it then by all means keep doing what makes you happy but there is no way I'm putting that much effort in the cutting down a tree that shouldn't take that much effort. All those extra cuts for no reason. Unless you just like to be bent over forever. I'm too old for that. If you cut trees like that down on the regular jump up to a 562 with the 24-inch bar. And then tell me your life is not way easier. Must just be a European thing about using these itty bitty saws with the shortest bars you can put on them. Makes no sense. Or better yet on those smaller trees you got the 562 with a 20-in bar. I would use that 543 saw as a bucket saw or a limbing saw. You said you were still learning. I'm telling you learn to love a longer bar.
In Norway 13-inch is standard, and every saw 50cc and down comes with a 13 inch from the store, i have a 560 xpg with a 20-inch but for jobs like this its overkill and to heavy for my preference. I dont feel like its much effort at all using my settup, its good for the body as long as you are using the right techniques.
@ForestryNorth there is a better way. That's all I'm advising here. I would have put the same trees down in less than half the time. Just think about it so you're going to carry a saw that weighs just a little more for half the time. And that right there makes any argument to the contrary kind of moot. And in the arsenal of saws that you have. Slap a 20-inch bar on the 550 and save yourself a lot of time for just a small penalty in weight. Carrying a slightly lighter saw for twice as long doesn't it make you smarter or more efficient. If that was your only saw then that would be one thing but it is not your only saw.
50cc is minimum for real work
I love my 540xp I have an 18" bar on it and it rips.
As long as it’s just for personal firewood then it’s fine, but this pace of work would have you fired within a week on a production crew. So this displacement size is for home use, not for commercial use at all. Also overall throttle control and pressure on bar is not impressive at all in this video, not a skilled sawyer in my opinion.
Im self teached man, everybody starts somewhere, im guessing you werent born a professional lumberjack either..
It's usually dull chains that are the problem more than a lack of chainsaw power,
Very true
Weak lack of power means you wont pull a long bar like 18 or 20 inch full-compliment chain, but for small jobs where power isn't needed that class of saw makes up for everything with how light they are
i mostly use 13 inch, i have 15 and 20 inch bars also if the 13 inch doesent do the job
@ForestryNorth tho is 20 with full comp not too much for 40cc? In the video you could hear the rpm fall down drastically with that 13 or 15 inch bar
@@bartektwardowski i use the 20 on a 560 xpg, have used the 543 with a 15 too no problem on softwood
@ForestryNorth yea 60cc will Run a 20 inch no problem
You have good felling skills and good sawmanship in general. Where are you from? Is it Sweden??
Week no power .
Works fine for me
No power for a week? How you holding up buddy?
50cc (port work) is abaut 60cc. It is faster and not so heavy😅 I own two 50cc saw. Those eat pigger tree also.
I run them they are great especially after they are ported. Nice one to take up in the tree I think.
What is the average output in cubic metres per hour?
It depends alot on how big the logs are, but we average about 3 1000L/1 cubic meter bags an hour, this is mesured in loose cubic meters because of the air in the bags.

Takk for svar. Ser de har 5x7m og 6x10m 600g presenning på Monter. Bredden ser jo perfekt ut i oppsettet ditt så det hadde vært fint om du kunne ha funnet ut av bredden.
You're missing a lot of important factors in your silly math equation. Fuel, labor, maintenance, insurance, cost of materials, depreciation of equipment, delivery costs. Or is that all covered in the $10/ hr mistake in your calculations?
How do you call it silly when you dont know how i run my buisness or even how many bags i make a day? to answer a few of your questions, I do all maintenace myself, insurance is cheap, all the firewood is taken from my own forrest and it costs money to get the firewood delivered. The prise is coverted from NOK (Norwegian currenncy) which may vary in relation to your country.
I read the description in your video that suggested that you make 3 bags an hour, approximately 12 per day. Almost everything in business has a cost. Your wood isn't "free" even if you're not actually paying for it. My point is that you need to take your daily "earnings" figure and subtract ALL the expenses and then divide that by ALL the time spent on the operation. THEN you have an accurate and no doubt significantly lower hourly figure. Basic business. I produce hundreds of cords of firewood a year. I'm well versed in the business.
is it you and your father in the video? Either way you two make a great team!
Its my neighbor, he had a work accident a few years ago so he is early retired, he likes to help out on the farm and he love running the firewood machine!
@@ForestryNorth thats awesome man! you own a farm too?
@@zebbe8691 its my fathers farm, we have a decent size grain production, but we also have alot of forrest, so i have invested in the equipment to make firewood and i borrow some machinery from him.
