The only thing that I remember being an issue was a possible rear end collision fire hazard. I never saw one burn, and I saw a LOT of those cars. They were pretty decent looking , they were cheap and got good fuel mileage. The EPA was already causing auto makers some grief with the clean air stuff, and it was just around the corner til gasoline cost was going way up, so it was a good choice for a lot of people..... Good job, dude !

My father bought a 1963 Lark at the Atlanta Studebaker dealer....It was a damn good car. It wasn't fancy, but it was dependable and decent enough looking. I remember it quite well, even though I was only 8 when he bought it..

I bought a 1970 Caddy Eldorado with a 500 CI V8 (400 HP) in 1983 for $300.00 from a friend. I had to repair the transmission, but aside from that the car was cherry. The AC worked, the Cruise control worked, all of the windows and door locks worked. It was a great car but for 1 thing: If you left it idling while refueling, it would never fill up ! I know that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it only got about 9 MPG , city or highway. It held 27 gallons , so at least you could ride for a while between fill-ups. It truly was a beautiful car, and it really was a fast car to be a big as it was, 2 and a half tons of automobile ! Great upload, love seeing these old rides !

They basically were an up grade to a Fury or Diplomat.. However, they were a very comfortable good riding car. Well equipped and appointed. Remember it well.

This one Fifth Avenue Sedan was a beautiful Automobile in it's own way. Very Classy Lady.

Seems like very few companies are putting out radically different designs like this anymore. Has everything been done now, so we can all just buy the designs that won out, or are they less inventive and creative than before?

Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham owned one of these cars during the first few years of Happy Days. Afterwards, Mr. Cunningham purchased a Studebaker. 😊❤

I'll never forget the 5th Ave I had to put an evaporator core in (A/C) ! They were nice cars, other than when they had problems....LOL!

My father traded a 1963 Studebaker Lark in on a beautiful 1968 Plymouth Satellite 2 door-it was equipped with A/C , Power steering, power brakes (drum, ofc) and a 318 V-8 engine. It was black with a gold (painted, not vinyl) top. Damn that was a great car, never needed a thing but regular maintenance. I was 12 years old then, and changed the oil myself. I don't know what happened to that car after my brother wrecked it, but damn it was a great car. I bought a 69 Road Runner in 1971 but it still wasn't as cool as that Satellite !! Memories live here, it is so cool to see this ! I forgot to mention that I bought a 1974 Satellite from a local police dept. auction- it was fully equipped , had a 400 CI V-8 , a Holley 780 4V carb and a B&M Holeshot torque converter.....That car would absolutely FLY- it had a certified 145 MPH speedo and it would BURY that , LMAO !!

SHOW a '56 Adventurer! Then do NOT show a '59 when describing the '57. In 1961 there was just one model, "De Soto" - no Adventurer at all. RESEARCH PLEASE.

Those old DeSotos and Chryslers had a lot of class, they were quite something in their day...

This was the car doctors' wives and mobsters' girlfriends drove. In Chicago, the premier Desoto dealership was Flappan Motors at Ogden and Pulaski, a futuristic-looking garish building on the SE corner.

I have never seen one of these before right now....

If you just drove around town or had a job close to home this would be perfect you could drive for a week or more before you had to fuel up again .

Modern cars ate tbe ugliest most boring looking things to ever be on the roads. They have nothing to do with all the beatiful progresive designs that came before. And, what color are they? White or silver, with an occasional grey or brown. What hapoened to us?

Seeing for the first time seems strange/unproportional but moments later I can see its corrected lines in the form of Jaguar E-type.
