Cool
I like this so much better. Thanks for the great video
I’m a beginner to knitting socks and I love your pattern. Is this available anywhere please? I’m an experienced knitter, but just a newbie to socks
Nicely done I was always curious about knitting inside out. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you th8nk I got and I also like you socks😊
Yay! Thank you!
Thanks for the great tutorial on the Finley stitch. I have found this is so much easier than the Kitchener stitch. Can I ask what is the name of the sock pattern you are using in this video.
You're very welcome! The pattern is Little boxes Socks by Summer Lee Designs.
Never knew you had these tutorials , love your calm demeanor when teaching, found by accident while watching your knitnpieces podcast.
Kelly, this method is fantastic thank you for the awesome tutorial. I have knitted many many pairs of socks using the Kitchener stitch . I will use the Finchley from now on. You are a fabulous teacher.
Thank you! It's my favorite method for sure!
At 7:43, you say that this graft will result in garter stitch on the WS but will look like stockinette on the RS. This is incorrect. (Garter stitch would give you a ridge on both the RS and the WS.) The Finchley Graft will give you reverse stockinette on the WS and stockinette on the RS (which is EXACTLY like Kitchener on both sides). The reason you got a ridge is because you were pulling the stitches much too tightly.
Thank you for the correction.
Love those socks!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. Can u tell me what 16” needles you are using?
You're so very welcome Terri! I'm using the Lykke 2.25mm needles in the 16 inch length.
thank you for this video the next socks i knit i try yours 😍 greetings vom tyrol
Thank you Jasmin! It's one of my favorite heel techniques, enjoy!
Thanks Kelly. That was great! Do you also do the hand of the mitten inside out?
Never mind Kelly, I saw someone else asked this same question. 😊 I do a lot of small item clothing for knitted dolls and toys. Lately I’ve been trying 2-3 colour patterns but find it so cumbersome doing the purl side, so adapting it for knitting in the round. This is where I’m finding uneven tension. Is it just a matter of practice? Ugh!
Thanks Kelly! It took me a try or two, but finally I got it! This is so much quicker! Beautiful finish for socks! Thanks so very much. You made my day!
You are so welcome Shelley! I love this easy finish too!
Thank you Kelly
You're so welcome Gail!
Great. Thank you.
You're so welcome Lynne!
Really clear tutorial. Thanks.
You’re so very welcome Lynne!
Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I used it to close the toe of my sock and it came out perfect!
So happy to hear that Joan, thanks for watching!😊
Thanks Kelly It is very helpful I'm going to start color work with several colors. Glad you brought my attention to this video. it is very encouraging, so I could start without fear of working so many end..
You’re so very welcome!
Thanks Kelly!!!great tutorial,,,,,Going to do this,,,!!! Elaine 🏡🏡🏡🏘🏕🏕
You’re so welcome! Let me know how it works out for you Elaine😊
Super beautiful shawl!
Thank you Elaine!
thank you for showing us. 😁💖✨
My pleasure 😊
New to knitting thank you for the knitting
You're so welcome Jodie, welcome to the wonderful world of knitting!
The ridge you're getting comes from pulling the yarn too tightly as you work the graft. You can always adjust the tension in the graft afterwards, but it's easier to take slack out if you've worked too loosely than it is to put it back in if you've pulled the yarn to snugly. If your graft tension matches the surrounding rows of knitting, you won't have a ridge on the inside of the work.
Hi Roxanne, a ridge may have been the wrong word. I should have said a purl row. Thank you for the clarification.
G’day Kelly, thank you this is a game changer 👍🏻 how neat 👍🏻🇦🇺
Hi Carolyn! So glad you found it useful!!
This is so much easier. I am going to teach it to my knitting group. You are a fantastic teacher. I will have them watch this. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much Sandra! I’m sure they will enjoy the new technique too!
This is A-making! Thanks
You are so welcome!
Awesome ,Kelly! Thanks,,, Elaine🏡🏡
Glad you liked it!
Kelly, not only is this a great grafting method it’s a fabulous tutorial, you’re a great teacher!
Thank you so much! It’s my favorite technique for sock heels and toes😊
Thanks for posting this! Do you still go up a needle size? Like, if I knit socks on 2.25mm, do I go up to 2.75mm or just 2.5mm or not at all?
Lacy, I find with my tension I can knit without increasing a needle size. If this is your first try on a sock I might suggest a toe up as you need much less stretch on a foot than a leg (to get over your heel) as a trial knit.
Hey Kelly!🤗I love your tutorials! They're clear, concise, and quite frankly, they inspire me to try new techniques! I've been terrified of an afterthought heel. I save your tutorials so I can study them when need be. Thank you for sharing your knitting expertise! Have a safe and Happy New Year🥳🎊🤗
Thank you Kamilia! I know you can do it!😊
@@thetangledstitch You're welcome and thank YOU Kelly!🤗
Thanks Kelly. Your tutorial was very good.
Thank you Wendy!😊
Thank you for this Kelly. This was great. I find, like you’ve said in the podcast, that the Kitchener leaves a bump at one side. Not only is this easier, but it looks better too. Thank you. I like the way you go slow and do it several times over. Big thumbs up. 👍
You’re so welcome Julie and thank you for the feedback. I think the Finchley is a great finish too.😊
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you!
You’re very welcome Heather! This method has made scrappy projects so much more bearable for me.😊
Hey Kelly!🤗 I'm a self taught knitter (thanks to videos like yours) and learning these new techniques encourage me to try new things like colorwork! I've been knitting for about 10 years now but colorwork seems intimidating to me. However, studying your video will help me to move out of my comfort zone. Thank you for sharing this AMAZING tutorial! Take care!
Thank you Kamilia and I’m so glad you find the video helpful. Even though I have been knitting for many years I am still learning new techniques and methods that I apply to my projects. 😊
Hello Kelly!🤗 I'm fairly new to sock knitting and found this tutorial extremely helpful! Thank you and take care!
Hello Kamilia! There is always at least one pair of socks on my needles and happy to hear you’ve started knitting them as well….they’re quite addictive. Thank you for the lovely feedback.😊
Thank you!
You’re so welcome Sonnette!
Amazing 🤩
Thank you Judy!
Great tutorial: thank you!! Will have to give it a try!
Thank you Klaske! It was a real game changer for me…enjoy!
Thank you so much Kelly. Thinking I can “do an afterthought heel” now. Cutting yarn is so scary to me. You give such a detailed explanation.
Hi Gwyn, you can definitely master this technique! It‘s my favorite method when putting in a contrast heel. Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you Kelly, excellent video,
Thank you so much Maureen and I hope you found it helpful.😊
What is the name of the sock pattern in this demo? It's so nice.
Hi Fran, the sock pattern is Voyage by Lisa Ross...such a fun mosaic pattern.
Thank you o much for sharing your knowledge.
Gwyn, you are so very welcome. I hope you found it helpful.
Thank you!
Sonette, you’re very welcome! Thank you for watching.
Great video!
Thank you Tracey!😊
Thanks so much for your expertise in this area! Judy
Judy, you’re so welcome! I’m glad you found the video helpful. 😊
Hi Kelly, I'm actually using the CDD in a lace shawl and I love it. The flatter version would be nice on socks though. I see a mitered corner (or memory blanket) to the left. Have you given a tutorial on this in the past? I'm still a bit hesitant as to when I should pick up and cast on. Thanks!
Hi Colette! It is a Cozy Memories blanket...although neglected lately! I haven’t done a tutorial but will definitely consider it😊
Thanks! I had no problem following and casting a swatch to try out both techniques for the CDD. I like the yarn color; can you share what yarn you used?
Hi Maria and thank you for the feedback! I knit my swatch using Timber Yarns Sock yarn in the Brown Leaf colorway....it’s a beautiful color!
I was taught this in 1958 by my Finnish grandmother except we do continental style. She called it knitting on the far side. Has worked well for all these years. I did not know any other method existed until someone in Canada pointed out how strange my style was. I do all my colour work this way, not just small items.
Mariane, I fully appreciate the beautiful techniques that have been developed and shared by our European knitters...knitting truly is a universal language! Thank you for sharing😊
