I am fifty hours in. I did about 40 hours on the map before I got to Margit the Fell Omen. Took over 50-80 tries. Came here to see how other players dealt with the game. This was a super fun stream and heading to part 2 later while I do paperwork!

It’s a bolt action sniper, just like any other, after your shot you bolt a net bullet in, doesn’t matter if the gun holds one bullet or 5, after every shot you reload with bolt action and it takes the exact same time to bolt load it as any other with quick bolt bro get your facts right brother

20k for a early access game is amazing look at subnautica which is the best underwater survival game ever made. It didn’t average a ton of people but it has gone up and down and has a large player base on console aswell. Most games don’t do loot boxes because it’s hard to make incentive to buy them unless they do something. In bo3 they had loot boxes but a fuckton of people hated it because a ton of guns were locked behind them

Many reasons of course but the simplest would be the same reason they don't play the same movie in theatres forever. Attention span. Like games, people might rewatch a movie because it was good. Or because they want to enjoy their friend's experience with it. But games are longerform interactable media. So not only are games easier to play for longer than a 2 hr movie. There is generally alot of variance in how the game plays out. Theres also the sense of progression or skill factor. People like to get better or perfect things. There is an ecosystem for this with all games but more common with competitive team based games. RUclips, tournaments, updates, less repetitive games with alot of skills to practise can keep higher numbers. A game like palworld (as it is currently) has about 20-40 hrs of content before i felt like i had seen enough to finish. Some of its 7k numbers would literally be people who just bought it and are playing it for the first time. I would love to see unique player counts for games like cs2, lol and other massive games. But also break it down into returning(players who havent played in months/years), consistent and first time players(a number of which are usually smurfs/alts/cheaters who got banned). Because i would bet that a sizeable number (above 25%) of them would be returning/first time players. Theres still more that could/does influence the player numbers. Price/Sales can lead to an even larger spike. Marketing (including youtube coverage sponsored or not). Players who own the game but might not want to keep playing due to early access usually promising more content they dont want to burn themselves out on the game yet. The feeling of owning a game that isnt live-service and you can come back to it after playing other games. It is a truely interesting topic to be honest. I wish I had time to actually research it.

Your point? Not all of us play CS:GO V2.0. You're literally comparing a survival game to a FPS. I personally play the shit out of some DRG. As it currently has a little over 32k players. Hit 1,000hrs not too long ago an dis legendary status for my Driller. I stopped caring about competitive games and just want have fun. I'll be one of them after I get my grocery shopping and laundry done.

Why is that weird? Its a game not a lifestyle. It's a stupid mistake to measure a success of a (mostly) single player game by how many players it retains long term

20 000 is actually pretty damn good, especially for an early access game. Most good games get a huge increase in players at release, then it levels out over time. One of my favourite games, Subnautica, that I feel like is pretty large has kept an average player count of around 7k for years, even during early access. It had a large spike in players when it fully released in 2018, then it went back down to around a 7-8k average. Palworld is not going to be a massive game like CS, CoD, Fortnite, Minecraft, etc., but it's not dead. Edit: Y'know, I probably should've also checked Palworld's numbers. Right now it's sitting at a count of 143 308 people currently playing, not even accounting for other store numbers, and being 11th most played on Steam...definitely not dead. Pretty bad timing for this clip lol

Pal world is not a game that can hold you forever, it's not a live service with competitive mode

CSGO was dying like any other game until a 3rd party website started using CS skins for gambling. We're talking about stuff like e-sports betting, this lies at the core of competitive CS. KiraTV made a big video about this almost half a year ago.

CS has loot drops, it's own economy and a massive tournament scene. Really not a good comparison of a survival game vs something people make a living with. Like yea i'd imagine there is gonna be a massive difference in player base :/

I think a large reason is due to it being early access, plus the devs are actually cool, and have said they’re fine with people playing other games. I think when a full release is announced itll have another surge.

Csgo in 2013 had 30k players and 2014 around 100k so no not over a million at all times these playercounts came 2018 when the game got free the first time and then Covid.

Comparing different genres 💀💀 whats the point. League of Legends maintains 100 million for over 20 years beat that.
