I'm not sure what you are fishing for, but this many wraps is counter productive. You have such a long wrap, that you have to pull much harder, and more of the leader is getting damaged by the biting braid. You can see at 3:11 that you have visibly damaged the leader to the left of the knot. That part of the line is now weaker. Wrapping 15-20 times and bunching the wraps together while slack stops this kind of damage. More isn't always better.

Awesome trick using the weighted 'spinner' to make the wraps! I've just made one with a snap swivel, split ring and a small weight. Thanks for the innovation! (When opening the loop to put the leader tag end thru, however, I use a toothpick to open the loop as opposed to having to 'fat finger finagle' it open as I see so many of the demonstrators doing. I find it just simplifies the process a little.)

So basically you got the idea from the bobbin swing on the pr knot. Regardless no way no how looping under tension makes it a new knot. The same thing could be done by hand but using your reel or anything to hold tension on the mono line and use finger tension for tge loops. Also I would never finish any of these knots with just a few half hitches. One, I would alternate the loop of the half hitches left to right side so its locking down alternat sides. Lastly I would always finish with a rizzuto finishing knot. Basically a half hitch but go thru the loop 4+ times. Then unwind the loop forming the wraps to the sc knot side and pull tight. This puts the eventual cut tag braid end in the front and thus in the middle between the last half hitch and this rizzuto. It's not exposed to being chewed up by the guides or pulling out and unraveling. Just a much cleaner finish. Cut and melt braid and mono/fluoro tag ends. I do a final finish of a drop of super glue spread with fingers over the rizzuto finish. Why not. Please give any good reason in terms of performance not to finish with a drop of glue. Not having to bring it is not a valid reason it's an excuse. With all the benefits of these small diameter knots, if your using a spinning reel it WILL hit the guides and start to wear and it WILL negatively effect casting distance. Yes, much less than other lines and knots but still less distance than if the knot stays out of the guides or you use the ultimate mono leader to solid braid connection. A more superior connection joint would be a few feet of hollow braid close to but higher lb than the main line braid. Nothing makes a smaller diameter consistently stronger connection than a hollow braid splice with ends bound by super glue and half hitches rizzuto finish for a smooth transition. It's as good as it gets for any connection that ends up in the guides. There is a linmitation that really only effects light inshore setups. Hollow braid only gets so small. 40lb is about the smallest especially to get a needle thru to splice. This means not much thinner than 30lb solid braid works and joining 40lb mono/fluoro. But its the ideal junction for braid to mono/fluoro for shock leader and top shot. But it's not for out in the field but in prep at home are. If it's damaged I would switch to sc/fg/pr knots in the field. If your still adding a final bite leader that is what should take the damage and since it's going mono to mono etc it's likely just a extra turn double uni as it would stay outside the guides.

Interesting take. I had seen some other videos on this knot and the doubled looped line was the one being twisted around the main line. Is this a different kind of knot?

Hi there. That is a great idea using the sinker with a snap swivel. I would finish off the SC or Yukatan knot with a whipping knot if I was you. Those half hitches can come undone if not secured by burning the end and/or using glue.

Video would be considerably easier to follow IF the camera was actually in focus for the second half of the knot description, eh? Center the frame on the actual knot being tied, and not your hand, lol. No idea what you were doing on the second half of the knot due to it being out almost completely out of focus, or blocked by your fingers.

Over complicated sc knot

Ingenious, i do about a 2 inch knot, then half hitches to the mushroom cap, then 12 more alternating half hitches, then finish with a rizzuto knot. Good job, clever
