I like AR 3a speakers very much, but you need rework crossover,hook up wire, reform woofer .I have 2ax , 4x also another pair 302.

This pair seem to be in excellent upkeep. I have my pair of AR3a Improved (with slimmer front baffle trim) sitting in my basement corner gathering dust. The woofer surround sagged while one tweeter cracked... Don't think I can get them restored at a reasonable price. Anyway the legendary bass now sounds a bit slovenly compared to the fast responding modern speakers. Time and technology move on.

I remember testing all of the AR line at Pacific Stereo and the best to me were 3's followed by the 5. We grew up with 4x speakers. AR6 was a great model also.

AR speakers were used by Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, MILES DAVIS, Woody Herman, conductors Arthur Fiedler (conductor of the Boston Pops), Herbert von Karajan (Berlin Philharmonic Orch. and others), and Seiji Ozawa (Boston Symphony Orchestra and others) . These people were all the giants of music in their day. The AR-3 introduced the world to the very first dome tweeter. It was a smash success and certainly no "fad" or gimmick. It is still, over a half century later, the most commonly used tweeter in speaker design to this day.
