Me: Peter McAllister, you let your ten year old son carry your own travel bag through the airport without making sure he was behind you the whole time; then didn’t realize he wasn’t on the flight with you and your family until you were all collecting your baggage; then didn’t remember that Kevin had your bag with your wallet inside it; and you didn’t overreact when you found out he used your credit card to rent himself a room at the Plaza Hotel. Are you really so shocked that he spent that much money on room service in one night? Imagine how much it cost him just to rent the room he was in to begin with. And furthermore, you’re in no position to complain because you and your wife make more than enough money to afford taking your family to Paris the year before and taking them to Florida this time around. And one last thing, because of your son ending up in New York City, you and your whole family got to spend Christmas in what I can only assume was the largest and most expensive suite in the entire hotel for absolutely no charge, and received a whole bunch of free gifts on top of that from a toy store owner because your son managed to help apprehend two thieves from stealing charity money, and these were the same thieves who attempted to burglarize your own home the year before. So yeah, you have no right to overreact about the room service charge. On the other hand, you might now be stuck having to reimburse your brother Rob for all the damage that Kevin ended up doing to his house in order to catch the thieves. That you can overreact about.
