Италия
Добавлен 19 ноя 2020
My name is Alessia and I am an artist and illustrator from Italy. I've created this channel to share videos for my Buy Me a Coffee membership area, but since the launch of Shorts, I took the plunge and decided to post videos that can be seen by anyone. Please like, comment and share, I do need your feedback to create the best contents for you!
Old sketch to new artwork
Not all sketches become an artwork shortly after being made.
Some stay in my sketchbook waiting for their time to shine.
This is what happened to this shell. It was a quick pencil sketch done in 2019. I flipped it through so many times whilst looking for inspiration until lately, when I could clearly see it becoming a drypoint on perspex. The quality of the lines and marks convinced me of its real value. I had to retrace it with my pens and it was ready to go!
Having a sketchbook is my life saver, I'm revisiting lots of my older sketch to bring them to life.

Printing a drypoint on perspex at home
Просмотров 812 месяца назад
This is a sped-up video showing how I printed my perspex plate at home. It actually took me about 20 minute from start to end, it's crazy that I had to squeeze it in less than 60 seconds! I'm surprised I was able to print without an etching press, the result isn't as good as you would get with a professional setup, but I'm still happy I got a nice image. From dark to light: exercise for a mezzotint
Просмотров 4883 месяца назад
As I'm preparing a zinc plate for a mezzotint, I also need to understand better what the tonal values are and how to create them later on my plate. Mezzotint is an intaglio technique where you start by rocking the plate with a rocker (or berceau) on order to obtain a fine texture that will print out as a deep, matte black. Then, you flatten the texture in some areas with a burnisher to take out...

New Year New Linoprint!
Просмотров 485 месяцев назад
A new linocut from an old sketch of two pinecones. A good excuse to test my new Mikisyo PowerGrip carving tool, that allows me to do tiny, little details, adding more texture. How's that? Share your thoughts here, let's start a conversation. bio.link/lalessia
CarveDecember 2023: Repeated
Просмотров 567 месяцев назад
What embodies the concept of repetition better than the good old typefaces? Letters need to be repeated to form a word, a sentence or even a poem, a novel, a text. The word REPEATED itself has a repeated letter in it! For more Carve December related content, follow me on Insta. Also, please like, comment and share far and wide! bio.link/lalessia
CarveDecember 2023: Flower
Просмотров 567 месяцев назад
A new challenge to jump on: Carve December! A brainchild of @BalzerDesigns, I discovered this challenge on Pinterest, whilst looking for a challenge that would allow me to hone my carving and printing skills, and give me some inspiration that is still missing in action. In this sped-up video, I show you how those poppies come to life little by little. For more Carve December related content, fo...
Printing a pattern on fabric (real time video)
Просмотров 427 месяцев назад
This old hoodie needed a revamp, and I wanted to give fabric printing a try since last year. It took me a while to design a pattern good enough and make a stamp out of it. Although I'm still not fully satisfied, I'm glad I gave it a go, at least now I can see the outcome by myself. bio.link/lalessia
Printober 2023: Fungi
Просмотров 328 месяцев назад
I've tried to keep up with this year's Printober challenge with mixed results, actually. But I think I like to draw, carve and print fungi, as I managed to do 3 prompts from the Fungi realm. From left to right: shiitake; psylocybe tampanensis; amanita muscaria. bio.link/lalessia

Reprinting "Breakfast Mugs"
Просмотров 999 месяцев назад
This is an old linocut I made back in 2016. I was living in Dublin and these two mugs were on the kitchen draining board. Mine was the one on the left, who sadly got broken a few years later when I washed it after breakfast. I'm running two test prints in this video, the second always comes out better. Also, black ink never disappoints! Music by @MolkolmOG - "Waiting for Coffee" bio.link/lalessia
Sakura Gelly Roll 05 vs Pilot Choose 07
Просмотров 5310 месяцев назад
I've bought a Sakura Gelly Roll pen out of curiosity a few days ago. Everyone on the internet seems to love it, so I'll try it myself. Well, my good old Pilot Choose 07 still wins the challenge. Its ink flows quite smoothly and I can scribble effortlessly compared to the Sakura Gelly Roll. Also, the ink has a better coverage. So what's the fuzz about the Sakura Gelly Roll? It's more expensive t...

Pattern carving on linoleum
Просмотров 104Год назад
After having a long hiatus, I forced myself to make some little work of art. I'm trying to be consistent and focus on making rather than be a perfectionist, because I miss my creativity. Although it doesn't seem to be coming back any soon, I need to meet it halfway. Meanwhile, enjoy this little video, hope it won't be too long until the next one! bio.link/lalessia
Happy New Year! 2023

Late to the party as usual, but it took me a while to finally sit down and do this short animation, my first one actually! Happy New Year people! Wishing you everything you hope for and deserve. bio.link/lalessia
Why is the so underrated this is actually awesome what
Oh goodness, I'm so glad you appreciated it, thank you! 🤩
More 1 sub for you
Thanks a lot 🥰
I love ee yout videos
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How long does the pen last?
I've used it only twice, and it looks like new, so I can't give you a good answer 😓
Did you make the paper wet. ....
Yes, it's not shown in the video but I did wet the paper before printing.
😊
Grazie per la bellissima canzone, mette il buonumore 😊
I have been struggling as well. trial and error, and all the videos, make it look so easy. Thanx for sharing a painful error. Hint that did work: spray the plexi surface with water before putting the aluminum foil down, it helps to secure it in place.
Thank you for the hint. I'm still watching videos and they all add confusion as to how should I do 😰 some use cola, others white vinegar... I'll try again, but not soon I guess 🙄
Thank you for the hint, I'll make sure to use it next time. I'm still watching videos, they all do it slightly differently, adding confusion as to how should I do 😰 some use cola, others white vinegar... You're right, it's a lot of trial and error, I'll make it through eventually.
It was happening to me as well until I discovered that it’s better to skip the oil buff and just clean the cola with water. Oil all over is attracting the ink, so I see no point on using it.
Thank you for the insight. I must try again soon. I was successful at kitchen lithography only once, and I forgot to film the process, obviously... 🤦🏻♀️
Very cool
I'm kinda old skool when it comes to art 😅
Shiny side should be up,add water layer before inking, and touching foil with the fingers doesn’t help secure the foil to plexiglass or glass beforehand so you can keep painting area clean
Thanks for all the tips. I'm a littlr busy with linoprinting atm, but will try again kitchen litho using your suggestions.
Eccolooooooooo
I didn’t see you wipe the plate with water before inking… maybe you did and just didn’t film it, but that is imperative in the process as the water repels the ink in the places that you don’t want it. Also this may happen if it is slightly too dry after wiping. You can fix it by re-wetting the plate and doing a few quick back and forth rolls with your brayer (i believe they are called snap rolls) which lays down and also pulls up ink from the areas that should be oleophobic.
I think you might be right, perhaps I forgot to wipe the plate with water. Perhaps the pencil isn't oily/greasy enough, and it doesn't repel water properly.
@@lalessia it’s all in trying- trust me I’m still learning the process and have had minimal success. But I forge on. Happy printing!
@@alexgarces4068 thanks for the tips. Happy printing to you, too!
ᑭяỖmo𝓼𝐦 😬
Oh no 🙈
It's not easy, I tried again a few times and I was able to get a good print only once (obviously, I didn't record it 🙄). Now I can "etch" the foil, but when it comes to print I can't get a good image 😞

Thank you Larry, I'm glad you enjoyed the video as much as I did 😊 I'm using Pentel Touch brush pens, the colours are amazing, although not water resistant. Much support and good luck for you and your art too! 👍🏻
What do You think of the Bamboo Paper ? Thanks for sharing 😊
It's a bit early to have a good opinion, but I like it. I like the white and the texture. I need to try it out more. Thanks for your comment 😊
