This song did not age well. This song is about Kellys father and she is pregnant and newly married during this time. Google her now. During covid she went through a nasty divorce and the husband she is bragging about in this song sued her for palimony. He took her money, houses, etc.. that SHE earned. She took out the trash, won cases against him to take back her money and her life. Then she moved her babies to New York and lost weight both physically and emotionally and she is in a much better place now.

She's actually quite pregnant during this performance but yes, she has lost some weight over the years. This is quite an old and emotional performance. She wrote it about her father that left her while she was pregnant with her daughter. She was pregnant with her son during this performance.

Luv this ballad. The only one she performed during this debut 1985 tour. She really conveyed the raw, emotional feelings of a girl with a deep crush on someone. A fave slow drag on dance parties, school proms, disco clubs and weddings at that time.

I also think the meaning of the song was not about keeping the virginity. I readed that is about finding a love that makes you feel exciting, new and fresh like a virgin. good catch... she is a ghost/angel/spirit and singing on behalf of him losing her. he wanders aimlessly around town in a tux likely just coming from the funeral not able to let her go. notice how her feet never touch the ground, no one sees her and she is dressed in white with bandages. the courtyard where the kids are playing was famously bombed many years ago. young kids were killed in the event so not sure if they represent spirits also. the enchanting piano rift combined with amy lee's intense voice in these powerful lyrics make this the most relatable personal loss performances of all time. if you enjoy amazing female performers in black and white, i highly recommend "creep" by postmodern jukebox featuring haley reinhart. similar to this, it is also a masterpiece. enjoy! 😎
