For all of yu who say he is a villan He is a complex character We know that He at the end of s1ep10 lost his wife and saw his world ending and released some particles so that they could be embodied into some children giving them special abilities just bcz he knows about the seven sigil which we saw in end of s3 . His plan was to restore his home planet with his dead wife on his side and to being able to control everything so he trained the umbrella academy so that they could defeat the samurai and act as segil so he never showed them love and was reluctant to their wishes bcz If he shows love he scared that he wouldn't be able to send them into oblivion bcz of his love so he seized his heart but he wasn't selfish cause he saw every future in which the universe dies and the only thing that could stop that is resetting the timeline so he killed himself. In s3 he killed Luther clause made deal with Allison but he only wanted to be with his wife and even the whole sparrow or umbrella academy were killed I bileave his plan was to make them as battery to power the machine in the process of resetting timeline in this new one his children would still be alive but they are different versions they don't remember him and live a normal life I think cause at the end of s3 we saw another ben in the new time-line but not sure if he is sparrow ben or other but I think he is a version of ben and I think there will be other like versions of five clause.....etc in my theory though🤔 so they the original children have to die but in the new timeline their mutant doppelganger lives but never know of the past where once their versions were heroes but yes Sloane didn't return in the end scene cause I think hargrives was making the machine to install every people who he want to be in his new timeline so I think it works like this if his version exists in his new timeline then if he is still alive then he remembers his past life but even if he dies if the machine is activated in the new timeline he will still be alive but will have no memory of his past life so before he adds slone into his new time which he was creating Allison killed him that's his story. The universe is doomed anyway but he wants to save it and his dead wife and wants to include his children with him but was killed by Allison
