I think you're right about the snug - the pictures above the sofa would pop if they had the lantern coloured frames. Maybe stain the ladder to compliment your trunk but with the darker throw it gives a bit of character with the different coloured wood x

That pale beige is not a good color on you. Washes you out. Or hair would be nicer if darker with that color. IMO.
