This summer I found myself being the smelly North American guy in Asia. The experience caused me to remember the show which warned me this would happen... Ping Pong Club.

Comparing The Last Of Us PlayStation vs HBO
This remake is not very good. The original is much more believable. This remake looks like they were picked out of a catalog shoot.
if you don't have this pilot why are we here?
Ever fck an Asian chick? Well I experienced the opposite effect to your story here, strong fish smell I imagine from her diet.
Over all the years, two episodes stood out for me. The giant radioactive vegetables, and the spaceship seeing the word "SOL" after Gilligan messed up the fiery SOS
I come from the Net. Through systems, peoples, and cities… to this place. MAINFRAME. My format: Guardian. To mend, and defend. To defend my new-found friends. Their hopes… and dreams. To defend them from… their enemies. They say the User lives outside the Net… And inputs games for pleasure. No one knows for sure… but I intend to find out!
Standard Afternoon viewing in early 1980's Australia. But i never really "watched it". 2:09mins is a perfect explanation of my experience too.
The word is pronounced "In your end O" 😁
wtf is this ?? something from canadie again
I think this stayed on tv for so long because the whole canadian thing. I never watched it and never knew anyone who watched it. And just a side note, I would never ever watch anything from cbc.
Bruno was not French Canadian. He was Greek heritage.
Not to forget the tv movie, with one of the McKenzie brothers, Dave Thomas, who stared in it. Another long running Canadian series was, You Can't Do That On Television, Murdoch Mysteries, and of course, The Red Green Show, I actually was at a live taping with a group, in 2002. Constable John, seems like Officer Davis Quinton, from Corner Gas, which I wished that series would have gone on more, but they partially answered that with the animated series. Take care, and all the best.
its not crappy from a 10 year olds point of view in the 1970s
As a 6 year old kid, this was my favorite show. It's About Time was my first lunchbox.
Thriller is very uneven, but the best episodes are very good indeed. It is very heavily set bound and over lit, with lots of 70s video bygones like "candle flare". Once you make allowances for all of that there is much to enjoy.
"Thriller" was re-titled as an ABC late-night movie series here in the US, during the era when ABC had two weeknight "Movie of the Week" slots during prime time.
I always make time for low budget sci-fi. I did find myself wondering where the next episode is when I got to the end of episode 16. I had a serious crush on Rachel ❤️ The use of video instead of film meant that it didn't have that glossy Panavision look that you'd see in the original Star Trek series had, plus you could make as many mistakes as you want and just record over any bloopers. I don't know if anyone will agree with me but the Canadians accidentally invented ASMR. Even though it wasn't like "Wow! Did you see that?" I always felt relaxed, happy and drawn into it somehow, almost as if there was some kind of subliminal tone woven into it.
I wonder if part of the reason the Honeymooners became "classic" TV is because it was filmed (instead of kinescope - as was the current standard at the time). I know DuMont was a wierdly technical network (they proposed a TV standard which was over 600 lines but lost out to a more modern standard) DuMont had weird hybrid cameras that broadcast live but ALSO contained film cameras using the same lenses. So - (like I Love Lucy did for other reasons) the shows were preserved on high-quality film. I know you said the show was based on 'The Bickersons', but I always felt it was more like a caucasian version of Amos & Andy with Ralph & Ed and their zany schemes. But maybe that's just me seeing a buddy comedy as much as a married couple comedy.
I like to think this is a TV Classic in an alternate universe where Carl Reiner's "Head of the Household" (before 2nd try with Dick Van Dyke) and Back To The Future with Eric Stoltz are all popular entertainment miror-universe kid grew up with. Oh yeah, and the drama version of Lost In Space without Dr Smith. I only wish they got Jerry Van Dyke for the first Gilligan's Island pilot. Thanks for doing this. It was fun - and surreal. 😏
Interesting in the TV show "Lost", there was a high school teacher character also.
The budget was so low that it didn't even have its own mood music. The Score Productions Arthur Rubinstein music for The Starlost was repurposed from an earlier Canadian production, a supernatural soap opera called Strange Paradise. Proof can be heard at ruclips.net/video/ydbV6b8mDnQ/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=385
I hadn't heard of Strange Paradise, I'm gonna add that to our list of shows, it sounds great! Well, not great, but you know. Interesting!
They aren't really "replacing" anyone. Chester's been dead for 7 years and the band is ready to move on. Also, mike wrote most of the songs with some input from the rest of the band.
It's actually not hard at all. Cause they did it and a few finicky fans are melting down. Their song is #1 in rock and they're sellimg out arenas.
Couldn't have said it better, thank you two for your thoughts and fair, balanced analysis!
A bit of Unnecessary fake mis leading Title, -I get they Teach that to all you guys in RUclips school of Cheap marketing tricks , but very dishonest and rather stupid , very stupid really .. I’m out .
I literally added "not the actual pilot" to the title because of people like you. What else do you want me to do?
@@revisitingtv here’s a million dollars ( in play money).. understand, you set up expectations- then crossed your fingers behind your back.., , “ A verbal breakdown of the unaired Xxxxx .. “.. but not the end of the world .. just that routine is becoming so very boring
@@revisitingtv and besides it’s people “ Like you “ that embrace this stupidity to begin with .. but you are the Millennial victim here:).,
Every video on the channel is titled as "Revisiting ______". It's a small channel, and it's only this one video that's a problem because it got a bunch of views for some reason. We are very much not asking or wanting you to be here, genius.
You suck
What is your problem with star wars!
I didn't see Star Wars as a kid, and as an adult New Hope was really disappointing. Empire was better, but then it was a steep downhill slide for the next 40 years. It's brutal, man. If you didn't see it as a kid, it's not good.
Bob Denver was the star of the show. Tina Louis was promised she would be. That's how the drama started.
It was an interesting song written for the show but it was way too long, the episode would be half over by the end of the song and people would not like to listen to that every week, the song the show went with was short & sweet plus memorable. They made the right choice going with Bob Denver and the rest of the cast.
Back in the 1980s, I worked at shop in the Ilakai Hotel, it's next to the Ala Wai Harbor seen in the opening shot of the 3-hour cruise. One evening, I was walking across the courtyard and came face-to-face with the Alan Hale, Jr. He shook my hand and strolled away. It was a rather serendipitous spot to meet the Skipper.
9:12 Thank you for sharing this amazing shot. My life wouldn't have been complete without it! 😂
There is a 1988 animated version too, with animals. Take care, and all the best.
It is essential to understand that the mid-1960s represent, in many ways, the peak of America's love affair with the automobile. The car had become more than just utilitarian. It was now considered, by many, to be a member of their family. Following World War Two, the post-war U.S. economy was booming. The national interstate highway system began. Everyone wanted a new car. During the 1950s, automobiles were ostentatious spectacles. Beginning in the early 1960s, however, cars began to emulate works of art. Start listing famous TV and movie cars prior to 1960. The list is sparse. After 1960, there was hardly a popular television program that didn't feature a custom or select make and model of automobile. My Mother The Car may have been indented as a parody of popular fantasy television shows, according to one of the show's creators, Allan Burns, but an argument can be made for the show's homage to America's fascination and fanaticism with cars.
Seriously!!! No need for filthy words …
I know... Love, GrandPa
Less about you, and show the pilot. You're way to young to understand the business, and how impactful Gilligan's Island. You suck.
You have a youtube account, why don't you show the pilot
I honestly thought you were going to show us the pilot.
I'm so tired of getting this comment that I changed the title, just for you
@@revisitingtv Well, I wasn't the only one who misinterpreted the title, now was I?
Yeah, sorry, I was being cranky, it ain't your fault. I think I'll leave it though -- we're a small channel and all our episodes are titled that way, but only Gilligan got a bunch of views and caused confusion.
@@revisitingtv I think because so many of us love Gilligan's Island, and would love to see the pilot. But, no harm done!😀
One great silly sitcom that's stood the test of time !
Revisiting tv: I guess you could say that you & your mom talk about it.
Too bad some people thought it was real, just like people believe what they see on TV today is real.
1. Carry on again doctor 2. carry on screaming 3. carry on up the kyber 4. carry on abroad 5. carry on cleo
Ass is not the same thing as arse as it is in America. Do not confuse the two terms. Ass just means fool. Calling someone a silly ass, a stubborn ass, etc. is therefore a bit of a milder insult. If someone makes an ass of themself, they are making themselves out to be fool. In short, the insult "fat ass" is not a reference to his broad bottom.
was this size boat considered a Yacht back then? or maybe they didnt want a to large of a boat then that would mean many passengers would have perished and thats not good for a sitcom
If you want to know the answer to why this show was so atrocious, there are two RUclips videos where Harlan explains how the producers screwed him over by trying to force him to write the series during a writer’s strike, then hired a bunch of idiots who knew nothing about either science fiction or tv series production at all to make it. He wanted Walter Koenig to play Devon. He meant the show to be a mystery, where the colonists don’t find the ship’s bridge until the last episode. Instead, the morons showed it in the first one, totally ruining the premise. He got so frustrated that he insisted that they take his name off it, and so did Ben Bova, when they used stupid terms like “radiation virus” and “solar star.” ALL stars are “solar!” Read “Phoenix Without Ashes” by Ed Bryant for more details. The Starlost could have been a terrific show. Instead it’s disjointed, idiotic and boring.
There's an Enterprise in Oklahoma too. And also, Undertaker was from Death Valley. There were plenty of wrestlers from parts unknown, but not Undertaker.
I hadn’t realized about no laugh track. I hate laugh tracks! I love the episodes I’ve seen. I wish it would’ve had more seasons. My understanding was that it had a lot of competition from the shows on the other networks that ran at the same time. Just couldn’t gain enough audience.
Agree with you 100%. The Narrator , the man in the middle apartment and Peter's breaking the 4th wall scenes were pluses for my enjoyment.
If only they could have found Fort Courage, they would have been fine.
They actually had to structurally reinforce those Lincolns he drove. He auditioned for Gunsmoke in the 1950s not the 1960s.
So why is it that all we get is still pictures? Why can't you introduce it and let us watch it? No one really wants to hear you talk about it.We just want to see it!
It's a copyright issue, some old shows can be uploaded to RUclips, and some cannot. So I'm afraid my talking is all you've got, friend.
The host is a moron. No sense of political or social history, and taking every opportunity to diss poor people while they’re down. Also, comedy and drama go hand in hand. And you think it’s revelatory that you compare King of Kensington to All in The Family. You need to read wikipedia to understand that? 😂 Okay, captain obvious.
One of the best shows ever.
