Nice tutorial, Hoda. I have one comment to share... it is not optimal to offset the material (in material properties) for a special alignment condition within the model, as there would likely be multiple cases for the same material. Another way to manage material alignment is to assign a Model Pattern to the soffit. Model patterns can be repositioned relative to an element's surface, which also causes the render material to move as well. Plus, the model pattern also provides the wood slat lines in the construction documents when the render material is not visible.

Hi, this is really a great video. I am a structural engineer and I need to create some falls on a floor/slab. Revit has some functions for that but they are not quite enough for the purpose I need. Do think Dynamo could be useful for such things? Thanks in advance.

Hardcore. You should look into the renderdoc pipeline, or Cesium.

Why use reference planes on each floor slab when we could achieve the same result with a simpler method in Revit? For instance, we could modify the family by adding an invisible model line (e.g., 100mm upward from 0,0,0 to 0,0,100). This approach ensures the object is correctly hosted, visible, and functions as intended. Alternatively, we could adjust the view range settings to "capture" the drain family in the scope. Wouldn’t these methods be more efficient and less cumbersome than relying on reference planes?
