Please explain how to convert files from svg to dxf using inkscap
File->Save As->Save as Type->Desktop Cutting Plotter (AutoCAD DXF R14) (*.dxf)
when do i pay?
Nice vid!
Great help! Would love more
Hi I have a question please , when I wright a name on inkscape then I move it to EZ cad to engrave it I can't hatch it could you please help me to solve this problem
No idea. Sound to me like a problem with EZCad, and I've never used it. Sorry.
When l have taken a brick wall image and generated a 'trace bitmap' it does a great job however the outline when exported to DXF is the outline of the pen rather than a single line per brick. Any way of having a single line per brick?
How does one know what colors to use ???!! Nobody explains it! is there a list or manual ? Is there a standard? Can I map laser powersettings to colors ? This is something really nobody explains... Please please please elaborate on that topic! How to configure that in a template of somesort so one can develop a workflow...
Use whatever colors you want. It doesn't matter. Because, yes, you can assign whatever settings you want to most colors. That said, most people use desaturated colors, closer to white, for cuts because they're easy to filter out by color, especially if you have elements that will be rastered as well. But if you're not doing anything like that it doesn't matter. Use whatever color you want.
Been using Tinkercad for years now. I learned something new! Thanks!
Very helpful - thank you from a complete novice
The rounding corner tip was new to me, and really helpful, thanks.
Where did you get the smiley faces?
This is the exact same info from another video I saw. Did you steal from them?
That's interesting. Do you know the video you saw this from?
please do you know how I can set up my svg file vector in inkscape to cut inside parts first before the boundaries(outside line border )
If your laser doesn't automatically detect inner objects and cut them first (most do) then you can make your inner cuts a different outline color and then prioritize your cuts by the color of them.
Hi how to add castom font from 1001 font? The tinkered doesn’t download any different font. Thanks
Awesome!
Good general Inkscape info but I was hoping for a tutorial that showed how to use Inkscape to generate a file for a laser engraver.
Excellent video
Thank You for taking the time to create Your Videos!! I'm brand new to the laser and am slowly learning the How To's I "printed" my very first job today (just got the laser yesterday and finally found out how to do GCode (.nc file format) Been playing around with Inkscape for awhile now but definitely need more information!! Thanks again for Your Time!!!
one of the few tutorial to incorporate inkscape with laser engrave/cutting 😁, I am using Inkscape with LaserGrbl on LM2 pro 10A, I am tiring to create/engrave a wasteboard grid onn MDF, what should be the stroke width (minimum) for the lines to be engraved. Also what would be efficient (ZIP-ZIP-ZIP) for the laser engraver: create individual horizontal/vertical lines and group them together, OR use path effect on a line CREATE GRID, and get away with over lapping burns when the horizontal crosses the vertical
best tutorial ive seen yet on this topic, I can tell you are definitely a teacher. 🙏
Not sure this was such a good 'beginner' tutorial...
Not a 'beginner' tutorial...you spastically jump from one thing to another, making it extremely confusing. You presume viewers already know a lot of basic concepts and features. For future attempts at teaching I suggest you get off the caffeine, slow down and focus on one thing at a time. You tried to cover too many things in too short of a time, and seem to suffer from an inability to focus -- hence the 'jumping around' from feature to feature, and then reversing back.

This is an amazing video about Tinkercad. Thanks a lot.
Great tutorial
you call this a beginner guide. how do the hell do you setup the inkscape to eny laser printer.
Hello sir I know this video is years old but I was hoping you could still answer my question I have inkscape and I'm having an issue with the machine cutting and engraving in the wrong direction do you know how to fix this?
Exactly what I needed thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial, it helped a lot
5:08 a good tool is a tripwire system that will kill power to the equipment. so if you start the equipment you cant leave the area or it will power off.
awesome video man i subscribed
Makers Muse just linked this video.
Really? From where?
@@3dpprofessor it was a video he made about laser safety and recommended this video as a great video to learn about proper laser cutter safety
@@3dpprofessor I'm here also from Maker's Muse --- you're mentioned @ ruclips.net/video/-9hIXT8DMUU/видео.html and linked in the video's description. EDIT: What I'm mostly looking for is brands of 'safe' glasses... Some brand names are dropped in comments by people whose credentials I don't know; 'comparison' website come with top-3 best glasses but that's just marketing so not credible, etc.
Excellent info, Thanks!
Is there a preference to reverse the scroll wheel zoom? It is opposite what I'm use to in fusion. I can't seem to find preferences . In Fusion, I roll the wheel towards me to zoom in and away to zoom out. Tinker is the reverse. Thanks.
Not that I know of. Most programs are in line with Tinkercad, though, so getting used to it this way will service you well in Cura, Prusa Slicer, Flashprint, Blender, and nearly everything else.
Is it possible to group items together and then 'flatten' or finalize a group into a final shape? It would have to be easier on memory to solidify an object rather than keep it as a group of items, no?
Not within tinkercad. But if you export an STL (or OBJ) and reimport it, you can have the same effect.
@@3dpprofessor Ahh yes. That makes perfect sense! Thanks!
Very informative and easy to follow! Thanks
I need help on editing a STL files in sizes but not the hole thing some Areas I want to stay the same size
thank you man, I wachted many tutorials but this one was definitely the best!
Hi first of all a really helpfull tutorial thanks for that. I got a question about 17:39 where you inking the smiley in red. I tryied to do so but it always colours the hole thing red an not just the lines? Is there an trick i have overlooked?
Hold shift while clicking a color. Good luck!
@@3dpprofessor Thanks for the quick response. Helped a lot :)
no Tinkercad Advanced Tricks 2 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Just learning and this was a huge help thank you
Thank you for the upload.. but please invest in even a $10 lavalier microphone off Amazon. Statistically people will watch lower-quality videos but if the audio is off you're more likely to get people not watching the full videos and getting less watched time and these are very informative. But I'm watching this on my 68 inch TV with a soundboard and the audio is very scratchy and distorted with alot of background noise...But thank you again for the info
If I cannot find what you show in the featured shapes generator, but I create one of my own, how do I add it to my favorites?
You talked about inksccape and vectors, handles and paths etc but you didn't actually do any laser cutting. One can assume the people who click on this video already know how to use Inkscape, but have come here because they want to know how to use Inkscape to laser cut the image on the screen. Like all of these vector image programs, Inkscape is very complicated and very finickity, hence the reason for the need to know how to send the image on the screen to the laser cutter
Wow, there are some really useful tips in your video. I knew about using the duplicate tool to create patterns, but I had no idea that it was possible to change the size of the said objects being duplicated. That is super cool. I usually struggle to uniformly scale objects so that was also useful to learn. Although I do make use of the align tool to centre stuff I suspect the align tool may be hiding some secrets as well. Thank you for reminding me about the shape generators. I had come across them in a previous session pre-Covid, but obviously did not realise their full potential. The pandemic cut off my access to 3D printers as our local makerspace was located in a library, so I am just getting back into using such things. Thank you for sharing some truly useful info.
Can you cut a hole using cylinder pipe with no filling inside on a disc like surface? I took a cone made a hole inside turning it into a pipe, than I tried to close the hole using a disk surface ,but when I bond them together I made up with edges sticking out. I tried to remove the edges, but it just wouldn't do it. Than I tried to cut the disc object with the cone pipe hoping it will remove the edges. I keep getting fail to group, error in the bottom left corner.
4 years later and this video is still helping people. Thanks
that was awesome, I had no idea about the radius feature for the square. now I gotta remake my file again, but it will be better Ive only used tinkercad a couple days so far
Hi, nice video! I learned more of Tinkercad because of this. I didn’t know about the aligned tool before. Are you using an IPad? That is what I have.
trick 2??
