Under My Sun 'live' no laughter ABBA
This is the 'live' version of ABBA's unreleased Under My Sun which I think is a great song. I've edited out the laughing in the middle bit so the song sounds so much better. This version has a slightly slower tempo than the other one.

A montage of the greatest ice dancers of all time - Torvill and Dean. This is set to Bolero and aims to show off what they can do
Очень красивый ролик. Великие спортсмены!!! Именно танцевали на Льду!!!
This is a really nice attempt to make a complete ABBA song from this 1983 demo.
Génial

Судьям- позор.
Блеск! Классика фигурного катания.ЛУЧШИЕ! Непревзойденные до сих пор!
SMOOOOTH
chris makes a big error at 1:47. yet no deduction in sight.
Thank you!! This has always been my favourite ABBA demo!
Poor quality but you can sort of imagine what the song would be like. Of course the finished product of this is a track called Under Attack which was a non-album single before Abba broke up.
I lead my love alone - I don't hide it. Sometimes I am an open steamy fire that the water can't swell. Now everything is told - you can't hide it. Now let your body slowly take you higher, let your dreams be fulfilled. --- Chorus: You're the one, you're the true star under my sun. Second to none, you're the true star under my sun. There is no way I will let this moment pass me by. Listen to me now, set yourself free now. You're the one, you're the one star under my sun. --- I lead my love alone - I don't hide it. Because I am an open steamy fire that the water can't swell. You're in the danger zone - you can't hide it. Now let your body slowly take you higher, let your dreams be fulfilled.
Thank you for helping make sense of the lyrics. Until I read this, I thought it started with nonsense syllables (A-leam-A-lam-aloe)
Они самые самые лучшие на все времена!!!
Невероятные и непревзойденные. Они даже не скользят они проплывают надо льдом.
A very good attempt to make something of this demo. Personally I always prefered it to 'Rubberball Man'. Thanks

nice
На то как они танцуют можно смотреть вечно, как на огонь в костре.
Судьи хамы.
Совершенно согласна с Вами😊
Самые лучшие! Прекрасное скольжение, синхронность во всем, прекрасные внешние данные.
Canada is all about giving less points. Bad, BAD. They skate with their hearts.
Compulsories are all about technique. While T&D might very well be the greatest ice dancers of all time, their compulsories were clearly out of practice here. I thought third was a bit generous.
@@gk891 Jean Senft I thought actually scored this dance the most accurately of all the judges. Both T&D and U&Z had some major problems, although some strong aspects to the dance too, but her stand out low scores reflected her severely deducting for those problems. R&K 2nd in the dance and G&P way out in front of all others in the mark made sense, and it was bold of her to score it as such. I don't agree with every single placement or score Senft ever gave, like I wouldn't with any judge ever, but she is one of the most knowledgeable judges in the sport. Her judging tutorials on all 4 disciplines for CBS were excellent and I learnt a lot from them each time. Very smart women. I do think she overrated Bourne & Kraatz, like I said nobody is perfect, but I do think she was extremely knowledgable on the sport. The way she went about trying to expose bloc judging was poorly thought out, but I think her heart was in the right place, her B&K bias aside. While I absolutely do not think B&K were victims of blod judging or underplaced in Nagano (overplaced in fact) bloc judging is wrong no matter what the results should be, so I fully agree with her there, but agian the way she went about trying to expose it was wrong, and it looked particularly bad when she in fact weng along with Balkov's exact FD placings, which was especialy bad as she was the only one to do so, including Balkov himself. I can 100% see how that made her look guilty.
Très élégants, très beaux, très torvill and Dean !!
Think the judges needs glasses.
While they are iconic, their compulsory dances here were not.
The darn cheek of Canada give them low marks... to think Torvill & Dean went over to Choreograph for the Canadian team.

Elegance Extrordinaire’ is fir sure
Adam Dawson this song was not recorded in a studio. This song was recorded while they were rehearsing for their live shows in the US back in 1979. There is no studio quality version of this song as it stands. Abba worked further on this song but got only as far as the music as they had no new lyrics other then the made up silly lyrics of rubberball man.
How do we know what was an wasn't recorded in the studio privately? "From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel" showed us 6 (six!) full professional demo versions of An Angel Passing Through My Room. Surely they would have recorded other demos as part of creating the final tracks. "Abba worked further on this song but got only as far as the music as they had no new lyrics other then the made up silly lyrics of rubberball man." Starkreem82 has zero credibility with this remark. The song developed into Under Attack! Any fan could tell you this. It clearly follows the same turn and construct as this song and Rubberball Man.
@@dedpxl dude grow up. We arent talking about what part of this song was used in another track. What we do have is ABBA books and interviews with Benny or Bjorn over the years where its stated there was no studio recording done of Under My Sun. Rubber Ball Man is what they were working on in the studio. They have stated numerous times that they almost always work on the melody first then the lyrics. RubberBall Man does not have proper lyrics just the nonsense ones we all have heard. That is as far as they went with that tune before part of it was used for another track. It was clear they didnt like it and moved on. Under My Sun is like Get On the Carousel. Another song made for a concert but never recorded in the studio.
Mission accomplished. Thanks!
Seems an early version from: Under attack... But cool.
great - I love them!
Good job on the editing. It makes the song that much more charming.
I wish people would stop saying that 'Under My Sun' is Live when it's not, you can clearly hear that it's recorded in the studio.
Doesn't sound studio quality to me. Others have said it's from rehearsals. The balancing of the different elements doesn't suggest a studio recording. I'm curious how exactly you've come to the conclusion it must be obvious that it's recorded in the studio. Maybe the chorusing at 1:18? Anyway this recording is part of a longer recording where they are indeed doing a rehearsal for a particular concert.
i suppose as long as we no their the best then thats good enough for them :)
@Stfne Took the words out my mouth hahaha! :P 5.3 IS madness...they're completely in unison and just so fluid and smooth over the ice...what more did those judges want??! Lol!
The judges did not like the reinstated pros being allowed back. Similar to how they didn't like Tonya Harding being allowed to skate. The only reason they went 1-2 in the pairs was they were so far ahead of everyone else they had literal no choice. Remember the 4.8 Boitano got in the mens short with only a .5 deduction for falling on the combination. Witt's 4.9 for her clean short program. 2 judges having Miskutienok & Dmitriev with one of their best performancs ever behind Brasseur & Eisler.
I didn't care for their bent free legs in this dance. And their closed choctaw wasn't exactly great either as their right back outside edge wasn't all that wide.
@@gk891 I agree, but don't you think they were underscored at these Games due to the judges not wanting reinstated pros? Not maybe in the compulsories, they might have even been held up a bit to be 3rd. Their rustiness in compulsories showed.
@@rolandgreen7484 Definitely overscored in the compulsories. They were fairly scored in the OD. I personally didn't care for their free dance though as I didn't like how they recycled moves from their previous free dances. I much preferred their previous version of their free dance. At Europeans, I thought that free dance was underscored. But I admit that it failed to really capture my attention in any real way. Some people called both versions of that free dance 'geriatric'. I kind of sort of agree.
@@gk891 Yes but I would argue Gritschuk & Platov and Usova & Zhulin's free dances both had more flaws. Torvil & Dean's still was the most difficult of all 3 (Gritschuk & Platov probably the easiest of all 3) and performed extremely well. I didn't much like the presentation of it, but I didn't love the presentation of any of the top 3. USova & Zhulin had their strangest program ever and you could tell how forced and uncomfortable it was for them, and Gritschuk & Platov's had some great energy and appeal but also some sloppiness and things some of their other programs lacked.
This is just a fabulous version of "Under My Sun" ... perhaps the best on RUclips. If you could SLOW IT DOWN to its original speed, you'd have the DEFINITIVE VERSION ... and an Abba classic. I'd love to include this version on my channel dedicated to "creating Abba's 9th album". Hope you'll give it a look and tell your friends. Best Regards, Ivy Smith (Ohio, USA)
Its actually a demo version of the 'Chess' song 'Heaven Help My Heart' that Agnetha did this rough guide lyric for as a favour to Bjorn and Benny in 1983.
Robbed, robbed, robbed, robbed, robbed. I'm still upset about this. NO ONE is better.
I agree they deserved to win these Olympics however I agreed with their 3rd in the CDs. The two Russian teams were better in the CDs here but not as good as Torvill and Dean in the other dances.
@@azbycx56 clearly there is a glitch here 1:46
I agree with you. I love chris and jayne they are my fav skaters, they should have 100% won on the free dance (per their usual winning route) but i do agree their CD’s didn’t have the spark they needed and looked under practiced. Maybe had they of done better on the CD’s they might have had more chance of a silver medal, but with the judges admitting to their mistaken marking error’s in the free dance i don’t think they would have been able to get gold even if they were 1st in the CD’s.
I looked up the two top Russian teams Blues on youtube just now to compare to this and watched them entirely and I have to stay after watching all 3 I definitely think they were the best in this dance.
I thought this was a better dance than their first dance. I was surprised the scores were not better as a result.
It was better than their first dance but their closed choctaw wasn't as good as Grishuk & Platov's. Jayne & Chris needed to have taken the second step a bit wider. And one of Chris' back crossrolls after the choctaw looked scratchy to me. G&P also had stronger free legs. Don't get me wrong though, T&D are the greatest ice dancers of all time. At the 1984 Olympics, T&D had absolutely stunning compulsories, some of the best the world had ever seen. But by 1994, their compulsories weren't as good as they had been in the past. But understandably so as they hadn't trained them in quite a while. I may or may not have had T&D ahead of Usova & Zhulin in this dance. U&Z showed really nice line in their blues CD but their choctaw was problematic in that Usova started her second step on a back inside edge as opposed to a back outside edge.
Very nice montage. Well done. They are definitely the best ever. Russians probably have the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, greatest teams ever in dancing, but Torvill/Dean are definitely #1. Nobody came close to the level they reached from 82-84 in the sport. It is too bad they did not stick around atleast another 4 years and keep the horrible B/B from dominating that quadrennial. I would have loved to have seen the amazing work they would have come up with in that quad too.
A 5.3 is too low but she also gave Usova/Zhulin a 5.4 so she was marking everyone low. Except for Gritschuk/Platov who she had a half point better then everyone else in this dance.
i didn't think they were in the blues, but T+D were clearly the best in this dance for me.
Amo a esta pareja son tremendamente fantasticos... Extremadamente fenomeno todo lo q' hacen. Dios los Bendiga!
An absolute travesty TnD always number one...
All positive comments. Good going, though I wish I had sound to hear it!
