If you have never used a router before I do not recommend routing your guitar. You need to know what directions to route and if you go the wrong way the bit can dig in and jump. e templates to help route to the correct shape. As in most things in guitar making or woodworking in general, experiment on scrap wood!

@@GuitaraddictsWorkshopI’m just removing the section the jazzmaster pick ups sit on, to fit wide ranges. Just that whole height section, my intention isn’t to make a perfect hole for the pick ups but to remove half an inch or so, so the pickguard and pickups can essentially be flush to the body. Still wouldn’t recommend it? Haha

It might work but I'm not sure, I don't have much experience in refinishing.

There are different ways of filling the pores in the wood. I chose to sand off the layer of epoxy leaving epoxy only in the pores. Some people put a thin layer covering all the wood. I'm still experimenting to see what I like best.

@@mikkel456123 With this depth, there is only 1/4" (6mm) of wood between the bottom of the cavity and the back of the guitar so I wouldn't recommend going any deeper.

You mean the inserts that go into the inset vise that act like a dog? They are a little loose fitting but they seem to do the trick for what I have used the visa for so far. It might be an issue for others, I'm not sure.

@@GuitaraddictsWorkshop Yeah that's what I meant, thanks for responding. I saw a video about the looseness, it was 5 years old and then saw yours. The problem with them being lose is it can push the work piece up, I use hand tools quite often and was just researching. Apparently, they didn't fix the issue... but hey if it is working for you that's awesome, keep up the great work friend.

This particular base doesn't push up or down, you adjust bit height with the screws. I do want to pick up one of these that has a plunge capability.

I was fortunate that mine seemed to be set up really well at the factory but if you find you need to adjust it there are some great tutorials out there!

I am using Zpoxy finishing resin for the pore fill and spraying Target Coatings EM6000 waterbased lacquer.

Yeah life kind of got in the way of my building for a while, sorry about that!

That was just some Fender guitar cleaner/polish but I did clean everything with lighter fluid first to get all the grime off it.

They are called go-bars and are a way of clamping the parts in place. Google go-bar deck to see more details on this method of clamping.

Forgot to mention that these rods are made of fibreglass.

The kit with the extra few tools and shipping cost me $120 Canadian.

I've cut 1/2' ply and just took it slow and it did a nice job. I tried cutting some 3/4" material and it stalled the saw, but I do only have a fine thin blade. One of the carbide blades might handle thicker materials better. I usually cut thicker materials on my Dewalt contractor saw.

It was a kit, but the previous owner had assembled just the rim.

Thanks! I varied from the plans for the top which I made slightly bigger and I ended up not building the cabinets because I wanted to get back to other projects. I'm pretty proud of my bench though!

I believe the table is aluminum. No speed control. I bought a whole bunch of mini tools for $300 for the lot, which included a mini table saw, bandsaw, scroll saw, disc sander, etc so I don't have much invested in just the drill press.

Life kind of got in the way lately, but hopefully will be back at this build soon!

I have a 1 HP dust collector from Busy Bee tools, and I don't think it's strong enough to pull the chips away from this machine, or at least not at the end of my 20 foot long hose. I end up with some chips coming back up through the cutter head and onto the table.

I bought it used in Canada.

If I were to do it over I would have made a mold instead of working without a mold, but hopefully the videos still have some useful shots in them!
