how much was the thickness of the raw top?
Looks good so far; keep it up!
Thanks!

Is routing difficult? I was gifted a router two years ago and I’m a bit intimidated by but really want to enlarge my jazzmaster cavity’s to fit wide ranges
If you have never used a router before I do not recommend routing your guitar. You need to know what directions to route and if you go the wrong way the bit can dig in and jump. e templates to help route to the correct shape. As in most things in guitar making or woodworking in general, experiment on scrap wood!
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshopI’m just removing the section the jazzmaster pick ups sit on, to fit wide ranges. Just that whole height section, my intention isn’t to make a perfect hole for the pick ups but to remove half an inch or so, so the pickguard and pickups can essentially be flush to the body. Still wouldn’t recommend it? Haha
I think I read it to say 3/8” deep on the pickup routes. Is that correct?
@@davidmarkham4391 yes that’s what I did on mine
Looks good
Nice condition. If it’s a genuine 30s A50 it could fetch a pretty penny.
esperando las siguientes partes!!!
These were like FIRST ACT guitars back in the day. That was my first
hey what’s the name of that bit ?
Its just an 1/8" end mill
Made in the original Fender factory and 80s AF. They only produced them for a few years, so they're quite rare. They're our generation's equivalent of a guitar from the 50s. I own a rosewood model from '81. The specs claim it has a "soft C" profile but it feels more like a chunky U. 40mm nut and tiny vintage frets, almost "fretless wonder" feel. I put a 42mm nut in mine to make it more comfortable for my hands 🤣 the pick-up is amazing. It's an awesome guitar
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I'm planning to fix up a pretty beat up old Harmony H165. Do you think approach this might work if the deep scratches are taken care of first and the old finish is carefully sanded?
It might work but I'm not sure, I don't have much experience in refinishing.
Why sand off the beautiful epoxy layer?
There are different ways of filling the pores in the wood. I chose to sand off the layer of epoxy leaving epoxy only in the pores. Some people put a thin layer covering all the wood. I'm still experimenting to see what I like best.
no longer made in japan huh
Hi there! Congratulations! Did you do the same process with epoxy on the top?
No, I did not pore fill the top
Great find! What more do you need?
what's the depth of the trem cavity?
It’s 1-3/8” deep, or 35 mm.
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshop Nice, thanks for your reply. Would it be a problem if you Cut it deeper? 😊 I’m trying to lower the weight of a guitar and every little bit of extra material removed counts 😁
@@mikkel456123 With this depth, there is only 1/4" (6mm) of wood between the bottom of the cavity and the back of the guitar so I wouldn't recommend going any deeper.
how did that work for you ? I have seen some videos that say the inserts do not fit very well? is this true?
You mean the inserts that go into the inset vise that act like a dog? They are a little loose fitting but they seem to do the trick for what I have used the visa for so far. It might be an issue for others, I'm not sure.
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshop Yeah that's what I meant, thanks for responding. I saw a video about the looseness, it was 5 years old and then saw yours. The problem with them being lose is it can push the work piece up, I use hand tools quite often and was just researching. Apparently, they didn't fix the issue... but hey if it is working for you that's awesome, keep up the great work friend.
Sir what do you call the one you apply first in the guitar
It is epoxy that I am using to fill the grain.
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshopиз-за эпоксидной смолы на гитаре она будет скована и будет плохо звучать. Лучше лак.
It's hard to tell but does the plunge base normally push down or up? Do you have to push it down to rout or pull it up to stop sort of thing?
This particular base doesn't push up or down, you adjust bit height with the screws. I do want to pick up one of these that has a plunge capability.
did you have to do any adjustments to the infeed/outfeed/cutter heads right out of the box? looking to pick up this same make and model in the next couple of weeks and any tips or findings on set up would be greatly appreciates. Cheers
I was fortunate that mine seemed to be set up really well at the factory but if you find you need to adjust it there are some great tutorials out there!
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshop thanks for the reply, haha im hoping mine shows up the same way.
Name produk?
I am using Zpoxy finishing resin for the pore fill and spraying Target Coatings EM6000 waterbased lacquer.
Ive been waiting for this one! Im building my own jazzmaster and I have been using these videos for some of process, I really appreciate your videos!
Yeah life kind of got in the way of my building for a while, sorry about that!
One step at a time!
Nice video I love those guitars. I have a Fender lead One 1981. Wine red. What is that spray you use 9:56 ? My ome have a lot of DNA on it, I have Clean it with Ronson lighter fuel but it is still dull. I hope you can answer my question. Frank from Sweden
That was just some Fender guitar cleaner/polish but I did clean everything with lighter fluid first to get all the grime off it.
I have this guitar. I love the fat c neck
Me too!
Love your hairy arms
Every time i make a mistake on a guitar for myself i patch it up and show it proudly, no need to waste the material and i can remember not to make the same mistakes again lol
Apologies for the stupid question, what are the black rods?
They are called go-bars and are a way of clamping the parts in place. Google go-bar deck to see more details on this method of clamping.
Forgot to mention that these rods are made of fibreglass.
Thank you for the walk through of this process. This allows me to plan ahead for space, tools, and finally materials. Also enjoying your wooden bench build!
Thanks!
=== How much did you pay for it ? @@GuitaraddictsWorkshop ===
The kit with the extra few tools and shipping cost me $120 Canadian.
Do you think it could cross cut say .50" Ply? Or say, rip 6/8" - 3/4" Pine?
I've cut 1/2' ply and just took it slow and it did a nice job. I tried cutting some 3/4" material and it stalled the saw, but I do only have a fine thin blade. One of the carbide blades might handle thicker materials better. I usually cut thicker materials on my Dewalt contractor saw.
@@GuitaraddictsWorkshop Thank you. Yeah it sounds like this can be very useful for certain tasks for sure.
Thank you for this
Brilliant!
eBay. The finished product?
It was a kit, but the previous owner had assembled just the rim.
I was thinking of building the same workbench from FWW. Amazing video <3
Thanks! I varied from the plans for the top which I made slightly bigger and I ended up not building the cabinets because I wanted to get back to other projects. I'm pretty proud of my bench though!
Is the table extruded aluminum ? and is there any speed control ? and what did you pay for it ? New or Second Hand ?
I believe the table is aluminum. No speed control. I bought a whole bunch of mini tools for $300 for the lot, which included a mini table saw, bandsaw, scroll saw, disc sander, etc so I don't have much invested in just the drill press.
Great video series ..... but where's part 6? :)
Life kind of got in the way lately, but hopefully will be back at this build soon!
vintage fender lead is fullertone neck , the best fender neck sounded ever ! ( 79 - 82)
A cute toy. A real powerhouse though😂. Have fun keeping that rip fence parallel.
At least say something............
Nice series. Congrats on your new workbench.
Thanks! Can't wait to get building some guitars now!
I’m looking at getting this exact jointer. I seen you mentioned issues with dust collection, I have heard of other people saying the same thing about this jointer, what do you use for dust collection? Are you having issues with wood chip build up clogging the port or what is the exact issue, thanks in advance.
I have a 1 HP dust collector from Busy Bee tools, and I don't think it's strong enough to pull the chips away from this machine, or at least not at the end of my 20 foot long hose. I end up with some chips coming back up through the cutter head and onto the table.
thanks for sharing , I have been saving to get this one for a few months and since i have a small shop , i think this size would a great way to start and learn .🙂🙂
Part 11 ?
A volute! Good man. 👍😎👍 #volutesforlife
Did you buy this here?
I bought it used in Canada.
Hello! I'm having trouble finding parts 1-7 - am I crazy, or are they not on your channel?
They are further back in my videos. Here's the link for the first video: ruclips.net/video/OBHN6ywJ-SY/видео.html The kit I started with had been started by someone else so the rim was already partially done when I got it. If I were to do it over I would have made a mold instead of working without a mold, but hopefully the videos still have some useful shots in them!
Very nice
Smart 👏
