Bus blasting the music for everyone OUTSIDE the bus to enjoy.😂😂
Great video. Im 51 and already planning retirement in 5 years. Im a pattaya regular but in my may/june holiday im spending 4 nights in hua hin for my first visit. I've got a feeling it might be a better place to retire.
Thank you for the kind words. You will enjoy all the street food and markets. There is a night life but nothing like Pattaya.
First time viewer here. Thanks for the walk about and chat. I know Pattaya very well, and I have been to Hua Hin. I like Hua Hin to retire to. But I could see myself taking a 3 or 4 day a month trip to Patt's. That's the plan anyway.
Thank you for watching. This is exactly what we found ourselves doing. We would end up visiting Nutcha’s family in Pattaya at least once a month. We found Jomtien to be the right place for us. It’s nestled between the pace of Pattaya and Hua Hin. Hua Hin is a nice place to retire. Lots of Caucasian garbage there over 55.
koh larn island the best
I’m thinking about going to Thailand for songkran in April what city is better hua hin or pattaya
@@jamesjones2173 for Songkran it’s Pattaya for sure. 👍
NICE Video salutation from morocco
Morocco! Cool. We hope you enjoy some of our other videos. Check out our latest one. Similar style.
I didnt get that sme feel when i went...it was so busy maybe a holiday but the beach was packed, nowhere to park, seemed dirty... your shots looked pretty good though.....
Fair assessment. Were they locals or farangs or both? We noticed many Thai families there. We were there couple weeks ago and the road did feel like Beach Rd on Pattaya or Jomiten. Fortunately we got there a little earlier and managed to get a spot under the umbrella. Nutcha was saying that although the Thai's don't really celebrate Christmas they still take a week or so off for the New Years celebration.
Your videos have a beautiful natural feel to them. Well done
shame mate come to uk same here
Jomtien walking street continue to break music liciences and noise levels. Disturbing guests and residents. Seems a few bars are spoiling it for others.
shocking😮
That's the shocking part. 🤣
Wow that was a really good comparison video....Good flow, good information....Spot on details!!!
Thank you for those kind words. We are super glad you enjoyed it.
GREAT PLACE FOR FREE H.I.V. AND EVERYTHING ELSE
Great video, I'm 62 and spent couple weeks in Hua Hin and loved the food and beach, nightlife was also pretty good if you looked around, going to Pattaya February to check it
Come to Jomtien when you get to Pattaya. Many retirees here. It’s only a few miles up the road from Pattaya.. The pace and feel sits between the craziness of Pattaya and the laid back feel of Hua Hin.
I just moved from Jomtien to Hua Hin
How have you found it so far?
@@ThailandWalkabout It's a bit early to tell. I don't drink, so there's no benefit to living five minutes from Pattaya. And I want to ride a bicycle. I had visited Hua Hin around 5 X. I like it's quieter beach, and the fact its beach road doesn't really have businesses on it, and is hidden from the main drag. But I only prefer the section near the night market and the library. Far less traffic than most of Jomtien. Different demographic and fewer guys sitting in bars in the a.m.
@@bijanbayne3259 Sounds like you are comfortable with your decision. Did you have the chance to visit Bang Saray near Pattaya?
@@ThailandWalkabout Only very briefly.
To me, Jomtien is just the same as Pattaya. I found it to be fun, but not to live in. Hua Hin seems like the answer. What say You?
Yes, good comparison. Im 57, and have never been to Pattaya, but i really love Hua Hin due to almost everything. Going to Pattaya in july for a few days, just to feel the vibe.
Thanks for the kind words. If you like the feel of Hua HIn and the pace try out Bang Saray and Rayong. About 15 - 40 minutes respectively to and from Pattaya to Bang Saray. Both in my opinion are equally nice. You might be pleasantly surprised. We have a Bang Saray video going up in the next couple of days.
I was in Pattaya last February and loved it. Thinking of going to Hua Hin only because of this comparison video. I am over 65 and may enjoy the slower vibe of Hua Hin. But there may be "no vibe" from what I heard in this video.
@@9344music5 That's probably the best way to describe it. Hua Hin has a slower vibe and for many that's just fine. We needed a little more and found Jomtien to be our pace. I find Pattaya to hectic. Did you have the opportunity to go to Bang Saray? I'd say that's on par when it comes to the beach.
Pretty spot on assessment. Just left hua hin, really loved the food, beach was lackluster compared to jomtien. Walking street is the biggest rip off in the whole country and it's full of indians. No thanks.
Spend about a week in Hua Hin to celebrate new years eve. I felt like It's more focused towards the elderly. It's not a huge city, I think Pattaya is much more focused on young people partying.
I agree. Hua Hin is more elderly focused and that's fine. Good place for golfing. The pace is more hectic in Pattaya. If you want more of a Hua Hin I think Bang Saray is a good option. Similar pace. I have a video coming out in the next couple days of us visiting Bang Saray.
Too many sex workers in both - like flies on shit - sad existence in the end
That is an observation that is shared by many. Nutcha and I from time to time go to drinking bars for a drink and a couple games of pool. What else can they do? Many live in poverty and come from the province in the hope of making money for the family back home or a new life. The observation you make is more to do with socio-economic issues that challenge many SE countries and is not exclusive to Thailand. Philippines springs to mind. In some of our videos we visit Buddhist temples. We have a playlist of a couple. I am about to upload our visit to the Golden Buddha Mountain in Bang Saray in a couple days. Have a lovely day.
Ofcourse he pays for everything because them people never have money 😂🤣😂 sucker born every minute 😂
I have lived in Hua Hin for 1 year now. I agree with u also having watched ur video on Hua hin vs Pattaya. I am gonna go to jomtien to live next month. I fancy a change
@@thomasfriis8106 living there for 1 year you’d have a good understanding of what I’m talking about. We’ve been in Jomtien for 6 weeks now and were happy with our decision. It has more atmosphere and vibe about it.
Agree totally , also not as far from Bangkok if you fly anywhere .
I have been checking the Hua Hin RUclipsrs and from what I can tell. As a 62 year old guy, Hua Hin just does not have a good enough beach or any real reason to go there. Over someplace, with more stuff to do and a nice beach. For the same or less cost.
@@nineseven420empire3 yes personally the beach in Hua Hin didn’t do it for me. I actually preferred the beaches in Pran Buri it’s about 20 minutes ride south of Hua Hin. I think a place like Bangsaray is a good balance of beach, resto bars and if you want more action you have jomtien and Pattaya up the road.
Great video. This is one of the better break downs. I really appreciated it. Do you plan to live long term there? I wonder as one ages, if Pattaya is a reasonable place to stay? Like retirement age.
@@stevotropics yes Nutcha and I intend to stay long term. I’d look at Jomtien if you want to life in a condo. About 5-6km away from Pattaya but still close enough if you want to go there. Bangsaray is about 15km down the road equally nice. You can see Jomtien and Pattaya beach from Bangsaray beach so it’s a nice aspect. Has resto bars, great seafood and it’s not as built up as Jomtien/Pattaya. You got some housing estates and subdivisions that are nice there. Not to far from the famous golden Buddha carved in side of mountain. I have a friend 61 been living there for 15 years loves it. I can see why.
@ThailandWalkabout thank you 🙏
@@ThailandWalkabout I lived in Jomtien a year. Now I'm in Hua Hin. I don't drink or club, and I want to ride a bicycle
I'm 70 and found Pattaya to be a great party town, but maybe a bit much for my speed. Great for fun but not too sure about regular living long term. Will try Hua Hin.
@@9344music5 I think Hua Hin will be right up your alley. From memory the bars in Hua Hin recently had trading hours restricted. It may have changed since I last heard due to an incident in the area. I know bars in and around Bintabaht had their trading hours cut back from 2-3am to midnight with a lot of negotiations going on with bar owners and police. Soi 80 and 94 is akin to lets say Soi 7 and 8 but 3/4 the pace. The women there are a little older than what you would find in Pattaya. But attractive nonetheless.
Fantastic comparison...not been to Hua Hin though but will do in the future ...for now Pattaya is the winner... thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback. Hua Hin is a nice place but you have hidden gems like Pran Buri which is only 20-30 mins ride/drive from Hua Hin.
Great video Dean remember to wear a hat 😂
Oh Geez you are sounding like my Brother. lol Good advice. Got scabbing removed from the bridge of my nose 2 months ago. (Early skin cancer).
Great video! Thanks for sharing! Do you know what time the ferry back to Pattaya stops running?
@@oliviagilmore8125 appreciate the kind words. Here is a link to time table for Koh Larn. www.barefootpattaya.com/?p=212 There are many other options. Speed boat will get you there in 20 mins. Bumpy ride but fun. Price range is 1500-2000. Otherwise it’s 40 mins by ferry. Done both prefer the smoother ferry ride tvh.
@@ThailandWalkabout wow! Thank you so much!!
@ you are most welcome.
Don't meet women from Pattaya unless you want to end up living there. As you noted it's hot all year and there's no cool season like Chiang Mai. That's a disadvantage, not an advantage. As far as sophistication, I found that people who want that--what are you doing in Thailand? NYC is much more sophisticated. I've lived in both. I don't need that, that's why I am in Thailand.
Pattaya women are the best. Thailand heat is beneficial for my health. I prefer hot to cold. If I wanted cold I'd stay in Sydney and get my four seasons. Don't know much about the democratically run NYC. I know that DJT won.
Victim mentality half wit for clicks AVOID
Went to hua hin 2 years ago and we liked it, so we decided to go back this year and somehow it's not as nice. It's becoming too much like senile delinquents central. I ain't no spring chicken but after 6 weeks i'm getting bored of the hippy dippy shops selling frilly tents to ladies of a certain age for one and then there is the 'slow pace' which is getting too much for me as 90% of the people walking about are doing it at the pace of snails. I want to scamper around freely without having to treat people as roundabouts all the time. The other thing that's depressing is the amount of injured tourists who should never be allowed to get on a scooter when they've got no idea how to ride them and think an untied tinpot helmet, lipflops, shorts and a teeshirt are protective gear . Heck the only scooters they should be allowed near are mobility scooters. I've got a suspicion there's a mutually beneficial conspiracy going on between the scooters hiring shops and the Bangkok hospital down the street along the lines of 'we rent our bikes to hapless morons and you'll give us a cut of the medical fees'.
@@nathalieduran7355 lol. I think Jomtien would be your niche.
Is the golf cart rental shop in the koh larnisland still available?
If you mean renting a golf cart and driving it I am not sure about that to be honest. I didn’t see anything like that. I did see a shop near the beach advertising prices per head but you have a Thai driver taking you around.
@@ThailandWalkabout Thank you so much
Having had 2 different operations in Bangkok, i found that, its in the door do the Op, pay the money and out tge door. No after Op advice on don't do this, dont eat that, take care not to lift anything. Just no after sales service. I have research everything myself online ho to take care of the after operation. Its all about money.
@@John-redc fortunately I haven’t had surgery here in Thailand other than freezing off skin cancer on my nose. The after care was put some sunscreen on. The hospitals do feel transactional. I am surprised there is no after care for surgeries. If I could I’d probably fly back to Australia if the surgery was non-urgent.
@ThailandWalkabout i have had some skin cancers frozen off my body here in BKK at Samitivej hospital Sukhumvit. She was very good and did give some advice. But not as thorough as I have had done in Oz. Over the years, I have done some myself using dry ice. But it is not as cold as nitrogen. Still, it works on small ones.
I favor local hospital in big city. Mostly very professional and very efficient process, local price it means very cheap regarding pricing in western world.

I was there last week for 7 days golfing... and it is a great area for it.. as for the city, it was nice.. quiet, laid back, a total contrast to Bangkok. I get such a calm, serene place might not be for everyone but for our purposes it was terrific... Great people, great food, affordable, places to party if you wanted, western malls if you fancied that, good hotels, restaurants of every kind... not sure your truth is "shocking".. if everyone wanted to live in the same place it would be a pretty crowded place!
@@overpar9878 good summary of Hua Hin. Not much of a golf player to be honest. But all the points you’ve made I definitely agree with. It’s just that over time it eventually got a little mundane for us. We lived there for 8 months and got a good flavour of the place and its vibe. It is laid back and a great place for a quick 7-day get away. I appreciate your input.
Thinking of retiring in Hua Hin or Pattaya, avid golfer. Which one is cheaper to play golf 3 times a week? Can't seem to find any golf course with memberships.
@ not much of a golfer however if golfing is your thing then Hua Hin might be a better choice for you. When I lived there I saw a lot of golfing advertisements and properties for sale in and around the golf course. I don’t see any adverts or hear much about golfing here in Pattaya/Jomtien.
@@jimsilverdale205 Hi, I didnt really look into memberships at Hua Hin as I was just visiting but I know they have traditional membership deals as I played with some members. Regarding cost I bet they are cheap compared to the UK. For example, we played Black Mountain, recognised as the 63rd best course in the world (or something like that) and it cost £110 inc buggy and caddy. In the UK, as you are probably aware, the cost would be £300 plus..
