Good video. I wish that someone would make a more practical video removing one from a running driving vehicle. I'm fairly certain I got enough insight to pull mine for a rebuild, and also get it out. I found it was difficult to pull the levers in the Jeep, until I figured out that old grease is a pita and just about as good as loctite on that pin. I ended up using a heat gun on the shaft mounts and gripped the grease zerk on the end of the pin to pull it while the old grease was hot. Pretty sure I can get mine out ok, but I'm going to use a transmission jack. I'm old enough I'm not sure I can hold the transfer case one handed as I have on other vehicles. Anyway, thanks for this video. Guess I'll go get dirty now.

Do you think you could please do more ride along videos like this one only a lot longer and include the engine start up from the cab because that’s awesome and if you can see if you can get on it a little more cause that sounds great as well. When the oil pump is removed, will there be much oil that will spill from the block?

Man o man, that thing sounds amazing after what you did. I have an 89 YJ with the 4.2 that I’ve had a hard time to get running better and this video is the best I’ve come across and exactly what I need. I have the Motorcraft 2150 on mine and still running the mechanical fuel pump, but basics is basics. Also put in the HEI as well and eliminated the ECU and the vacuum/smog crap.

Is it possible to couple a pto and over driver to the same gearbox? Can you show us how it is assembled? Thanks.

Is the saturn overdrive just a high and low or do you need to shift it along with the tranny.

. when I installed mine the snap ring was a sloppy fit. it was in there but it was not snug. I contacted the person I bought it from and he said that was ok. I have a 420 muncie in a 63cj. I had to fab a complete shift linkage from scratch. made a shift lever from a model 18 in out shift lever. looks oem

This is the old school way to disc swap an early Jeep. Works well and replacement parts are easily available and not proprietary 👍

I have an HEI 1 hot wire ,1 tach. ! vac to advance on the HEI. 1 to the brake booster. That;s it, No vac lines And much less wires. This equals a very clean engine bay. Simple and old school easy, Oh and a Crown 2bbl carb. No elect choke. I rigged a manual choke. GREAT VIDEO Very Very informative!

great video! My 56 CJ5 w the 4-134 L-Head has an issue with compression. I'm only getting about 25 psi. Is that a gasket issue or do cylinders need to be overhauled? Something else?

Boy that engine looks awfully clean were you the original owner? Almost looks like someone else put a new engine in it. If anybody out there is reading this do not buy a Ford😂 we bought ours used and it's been down more than it's driven

I'm just about to do this ,going to order the water pump and timing chain ,not sure what brand to get eBay has ones that have the head gaskets the head bolts I mean everything. My wife was driving the car down the highway she called me and said the lights came on, I told her to shut it off ,I came to the scene and the pulled the dipstick and it was milkshake to the top,i hooked the scanner up to it and it had codes on it like crankshaft position sensor camshaft position sensor etcetera since then I changed the oil and started it back up momentarily, it runs but kind of rough. I'm curious to see how yours ended up holding up

Saying you Rich’d the mixture by turning the air mix screws out but that’s adding air which is lean… or maybe you were just breathing too many exhaust fumes by being 750rpm which is near the high rpm circuit drawing from the main jets rather than being fully in the idle low speed circuit Try again dude

A washer and 22 needle bearings repeat for a total of 6washers and 88 needle bearings for the cluster gear run a dummy shaft through afterwards to seat the needle bearings tight

We had a 1967 Kaiser Truck which I drove for weekly Garbage Detail and other assignments. Wish I had taken detailed slides. Cannot recall if we had a turbo. Ran road diesel, only.

Where do you live

Don't take this the wrong way, but you need a tripod or have someone else run the camera. You have one of the best car videos I have seen. You know what you are doing and you do it right. Its the photography that needs help. You need more time to make the video so you can pick the camera angles before doing the adjustments and have time to cut and move the camera. I wish I could help you with this, but I am in TN.

In the early 70's the only people who really had four wheel drives were ranchers, loggers, farmers, hunters and fishermen. My father had many Willys Jeeps universals. My favorite was his Willys universal (may have been CJ-5) which had a Perkins naturally aspirated diesel engine. He preferred Ramsey P.T.O. winches. We went to some amazing places in Colorado.

You can also undo the top oil filter hose and back pump the oil until it comes out of the oil gauge tube. Once then, reconnect the oil guage tube.

It is a sliding caliper. If the outboard pad wears, the caliper will slide into the knuckle and side load the rotor?

Where can i find electric cable that's connected to the stepper motor, just bought a jeep wrangler yj 1990 and that cable is missing, could that be the reason why my jeep wont start? Can i bypass it since i dont have that cable?

O ring on Intermediate shaft was a good idea,but have never saw these installed,they do not want to compress,they jump off every time,you have to use a good sealer on them!

Is 21deg curb idle or total advance.....and will a hei distributor difer from a stock one according to timing advance....cause I can only go 14deg initial timing at 17 psi on the vacuum gauge......38/38 WEBBER.

The rod off set is then all the 4 rods the same, correct? I saw a video where rods 1 and 3 have the hole pointing one way and rods 2 and 4 point to the other side. It may have been an L head.. Just wondering since I am ready to install the pistons and rods, O don't want to mess something at this point. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Juan

Great content!! I do have a question: Slot in the pistons all face away from the oiling hole. Oil holes on the other side of the camshaft. That means that the offset on the connecting rods all face in the same direction. Is this correct ? Thanks for your reply. I am working on a F134 of unknown vintage, freshly rebuilt.

The fuel pump should be on a lower point because it's not a good sucker.
