I have explored the Argentia Naval station site many times and I did come upon a bunker that was slanted and contained a track but I don't think it was in the area known as "site Sam', Site Sam was on the road leading to Gull pond and I didn't see any evidence of anything there only a cleared area.

My Dad was a OTM (Oceanographic Technicians Mate) in the US Navy the rate that worked on and fixed the computers in the processing center. We were there in the 80s. I can say yes SOSUS is actually used by NOHA now and they use it for exactly what you said. The reason, satellites we have are actually far better than SOSUS was in terms of detection capability. Not to say SOSUS is not still in the US Navy inventory, because it is. Think of it as a tertiary redundancy, its always good to have back ups.

Went out to the Arms a few times while stationed at Navcommsta Argentia from November 67 to May 69. Slept under a pine tree there on night. Canoed all over the place. We had our unit picnic there and I remember putting a slap tag on our skipper as he ran down to 1st base during a softball game. Still laughing over that one.

Our family spent alot of time. The barbaques were awesome. It's the first time I ever had watermelon. The playground was great.

I was there in 1979 - 1980 to rebuild the wharf. About 40 - 45 Navy Seabees went on a detachment there from NMCB-40. We took out the rotted old concrete and timbers and replaced them with new. Argentia and Newfoundland as a whole is an amazingly beautiful place.

We used to go drag racing on the decommissioned runways in the 1970's.

That guard shack looks exactly the same in 1990 when I stood guard there. A guy named Brad C. actually shot through that guard shack while playing around with his gun. Luckily no one got hurt.

I have been to Argentia many times exploring (8-10 times) now and have explored the hills and it’s multiple multiple hidden grown over bunkers in the hills (like the ones in east white hills St. John’s )but I haven’t seen this site you call sam ? I know there are many roads that are paved up in the hills but where would this larger spot that’s paved over be ? Again great video keep up the good work it’s informative and we need to keep its history going .

This is actually fascinating. I live an hour away from the former Naval Station at Argentia, and it was a fun place to visit when I was a child. I had no idea there was so much espionage and high tech surveillance going on there. I bet most Newfoundlanders didn't know about this either. Could be a good Hollywood movie.

Why they didn't show Daeron or Tessarion in the first season I don't know

I wonder what the show will do about Seasmoke's second rider now that Laenor isn't actually dead. Will there be people who try to claim him not knowing he isn't free, and will Rhaenyra and Daemon stand back and allow it to happen? Who will die because of their deception? Or will the claiming of Seasmoke be the sign that Laenor has died, wherever he was?

This is honestly the battle I'm most excited to see, cause there are so many dragons and a 2 v 1seems very interesting, Caraxes vs Vhagar is for sure 2nd

Silverwing is best girl, my head canon is she lived long after the war, undisturbed by men and probably was the only other Targaryen dragon to die of old age
