Riding from Lake Havasu City to Quartzsite, Arizona on a 2022 Kawasaki Voyager
Просмотров 209День назад
The video starts in Lake Havasu City. I rode from Golden Valley to Quartzsite, Arizona. The winds were about 30 mph and a light drizzle about half of the ride. The Voyager ran perfect and took it all in stride. Round trip mileage was about 280 miles.

Finally cleaned it with real soap and water

I used real soap and water to clean it for the first time in about six months. I usually use a waterless clean and wax because I want to avoid electrical problems. It needed a good cleaning.

This is a ride from Golden Valley to Sedona. Round trip it was just a little over 400 miles. I left home about 10:30 am friday morning. Debbie was going to Sams Club in Bullhead City and she said “why don’t you take a ride”. So I did. I took I-40 through Seligman and Flagstaff and then took Hwy 89A south down through Oak Creek Canyon and Slide Rock State Park to Sedona. What a beautiful ride. M...

George gave me a class in carburetor rebuilding today. I was impressed. He tore that Holley 4 barrel apart down to nothing. We cleaned it in a gallon of carburetor cleaner. Then washed everything with dish soap and water and then rinsed everything thoroughly. Then blew everything out with compressed air. He just put it all back together like it was nothing. Yes. I know he has done it many times...

Ah Gunny.... you youngsters and your fancy electronic devices!
First to comment, watching from South Africa 🎉🎉
You can take the key out when it is on, then just turn the switch to accessory
Nice bike boss!! I’m 30 years old and soon ima get myself a voyager
I really love these videos, keep them coming. They're very calming and relaxing
Me comprare mi Kawasaki para viajar así!!
how did you turn it on without a key?
It does look good! How many miles ya got on her now?
Hi Ken....Just under 16,000. It has been just too hot to do much riding lately. Hope all is good with you and your family.
Gunny where do they mount the M60 on that Winnebago?
Was in a tent next to them at a CAX about that time and the Black Knights were a high-spirited, fun group back then. Hog Body was the CO at the time--a good man.
Hello, I'm trying to track down a Studebaker owner from Kingman that sold a 1964 Chrysler 300K back in 2017. Would you happen to know who that is?
Sorry. No idea.

Beautiful ❤
How do you keep your Voyager running so cool in that desert? I live in Michigan and mines runs hot especially in traffic.
I sent my ECU to Ivan's and had it re-flashed so the cooling fan comes on earlier. Yesterday I rode from Golden Valley, AZ to Las Vegas and back and the temperature gauge never reached the "red" hot zone. The temperature was 114 degrees. I was hot and the bike was very hot to the touch, but the engine never overheated.
Great video, Gunny. I love the 2022 Voyager's paint scheme. I know that a lot of younger guys like their baggers all "blacked-out," but I like some color (for aesthetics and visibility). I will likely be getting a Voyager or a Vaquero sometime in 2025. Did you reflash the ECU?
Yes I did. The second week I had the bike I sent it out to Ivan's and had it done. I've never had any engine issues and the warranty is up in 8 months so I don't anticipate any warranty problems.
If you want to ride a more scenic route home from Wickenburg: > Congress> Yarnell> Kirkland> Bagdad , then west to hwy 93 and up to Wickieup.
@The_Tactical_Sombrero..Thanks. I will give that route a try.
Hey Gunny, would have loved to had a bike even a car back at Camp Horno 1979-1982. Can't say I had a good time at Pendleton, as an 18 yr the home sick blues got the best of me. Though after some time sank in I knew I was stuck till 82. I graduated ITS - Infantry Training School San Onofre sometime after 02/80. After that many of us in our class dreamed of getting stationed somewhere around the world. Until I heard my name along with others going down the street to Camp Horno. What a bummer, during ITS many of us would hear stories about boring Horno. That's what stood out. But I was blessed to have been chosen to S-2 ST&A Platoon - Surveillance Target & Acquisition, not a line company. ST&A Platoon was the forward observers of the battalion in the field. They had a week long course in mainside that taught us about ground sensors, night observation devices & small areal radars. Mostly for troop & vehicle detection while in the field. Nothing against grunt line companies but back than the living amenities were not a priority for grunts in my beloved Marine Corp. Goes back to the ole Marine Corp philosophy don't give the grunts shit, keep them hungry & ready for battle. Ooh Ra!!! Mainside Marines didn't know crap about that, they were living in modern day facilities with all the perks. But I had some great friends in line companies that were with me on the 1982 Super Squad Team. We ended up competing in Quantico, with 8 other super squad teams. I'm reminded of this great video you have shared with us. A couple of times when hunger appeared on the radar late at night at horno. I would borrow my best friends motorcycle get in all the other orders. Make a mad dash to Oceanside I believe Jack n Box. I just remember leaving Horno driving towards Pulgas somewhere down the road exiting the gate and driving down I-5 south for about 20 min. My version of Peter Fonda ( Easy Rider) with a high n tight, only my version included an igloo cooler on the back seat to accommodate chow for many hungry marines. Towards the end of 82 I was no exception to the ole marine corp myth called short timer phase. Can't tell you how happy I was for that time to arrive. Don't get me wrong the Marine Corp was an essential important part of my life. I'm happy to say it taught me valuable lessons in life and made me a man. But as anything in life it wasn't for me. I guess Easy Rider gave me that free spirit liberty that we all dream about. I apologize for the extended history story on this former marine. I thank you along with all the others for sharing this great video. If for no other reason to reminisce of such an important place in our lives, that we still cherish till this day. Blessings Always!! Ooh Ra!!
@m.ramirez2375 .....I'm really glad to hear your stories. The Corps taught every one of us some things we will never forget. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us.
So Gunny, I have a question for you. I'm an old guy who loves motorcycles and gave my Yamaha FJR1300 away to a friend a few years ago after I had back surgery and didn't think that I was ever able to ride again. Well, I feel great and I work out at the gym 3+ days a week and I KNOW that I can ride. I miss it terribly! But, being 75, do you think that the Voyager might be too heavy of a bike for me. I know there are "lift" devices that can help raise a bike up again after it's gone down (not that I think that's going to happen, but it has in the past) but I still worry about not being as strong as I used to be. What do you think? Voyager or smaller? Greg
Greg....I have a bad back. It goes out if I just sneeze wrong. I do carry a lift device when I ride by myself just in case. Although I have never used it yet. The Voyager is a heavy bike. No getting around that. But I love it. It's just so comfortable to ride. I'm 73 and don't plan on quiting anytime soon. I also ride a 2012 Harley Road Glide Ultra. They are both about the same weight.
No GPS ?
Nope. Just never have bought one.
I recently had a woman rear-end me on my 2005 Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1700 and totaled my bike. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years, a Harley (won't ever buy another one), several Yamaha's and Honda's including 3 Goldwing's, and that Yamaha was my favorite. I got 2 cracked ribs, a badly sprained shoulder, and 2 large hematoma's on my legs. Other than that, I think GOD was watching out for me. Anyhow, when the woman's insurance paid for my bike, I bought a 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager! A definite UPGRADE! This Kawasaki is my new favorite bike! It's just that the previous owner wanted LOUD, so they put a Vance & Hines exhaust on it. I don't like LOUD! I love the way your bike sounds and wish mine was that quiet! But it costs too much money to buy a stock exhaust for it. So, I guess I'm going to try repacking the baffles to quiet it down. Stay safe out there!
Sorry to hear about your Road Star. Yamaha's are great bikes. Here is a list of the bikes I've had. Most were Yamaha's. ruclips.net/video/rtL4IZ6iLrg/видео.html
@zachredner8....I bought almost new stock exhaust at a Harley dealer for my Road Glide for only $150.00. I bought the bike used and hated the loud exhaust. The Harley dealer employee "upgraded" his exhaust to Vance and Hines and Python head pipes, so he sold his stock stuff to me cheap. You might look around on Ebay or Craigslist. I called Harley dealers and found mine about 80 miles away. It was worth the drive.
@@oldgunnyjones4452 Thanks for the information, but I already did something close to what you did. I went to the local Kawasaki dealership and 1 of the employees had a Vaquero with a stock exhaust and he offered to trade me for the Vance and Hines that my bike had and he paid the mechanic for switching them. So it didn't cost me anything and now my bike is nice and quiet. :)
@zachredner8....I also have a Harley Road Glide that I bought used. It had Vance and Hines Ovals on it. I traded the Vance and Hines slip on's for a complete set of stock Harley exhaust that I found on Craigslist. Didn't cost me anything. You might try a trade with someone who wants loud exhaust.
@@oldgunnyjones4452 I went by the Kawasaki dealer to see about getting stock slip on mufflers, and turns out that one of the guys there had a Vaquero with stock mufflers on it, and he wanted "loud" and I wanted "quiet" so we swapped even up! Didn't cost me a dime! And now my bike is nice & quiet! :)
Great stuff.
It's too bad it has degraded so much with age.
I am so glad you got this. ❤
Wow, it feels like I'm riding the bike...
I've ridden those roads lots of times..
good ride , who does the music ?
I just added some Alan Jackson songs to it. None of my video's are monetized so I don't think he minds. I figure it just gives him extra exposure.
Nice ride, thanks for sharing. Someday I will do Route 66 on my motorcycle. Just curious did you get a copyright warning with the background music?
That's the first thing that ran through my mind.
Yes I did. None of my video's are monetized. It is blocked from viewing in Russia. So it doesn't bother me.
@@oldgunnyjones4452 Yes, I received one of those blocked in certain countries as well. No strike so I didn't stress. I'm not monetized either. 21 years Air Force vet, don't hold it against me ;-)
@@RobC41 ...Can't hold anything against you. The Air Force is good at what they do.

You made us feel very welcome. Thank you for a great day.
Come on dad, we don't know how it turned out???
I think its good sweetie. Mom says it needs more apples. OK. I will add more apples next time.😘
Ya left me in suspense my friend. I gotta know......how was it? I'd lop off a slice! Butter or maybe apple butter on it.
Ha! Hi Ken. Yep. Its good. Especially after Debbie at some butter and Cinnamon Butter on it.
Thank you for posting these Time Traveler Car Club vids. We had a fun time today

Looks great !! nice ride ! I got one as well, love that color!
That music sounds familiar, is it off a children’s channel ?
Beautiful
Did you have the ECU flashed? Im thinking of switching from my Goldwing (because of the leg position) and i hear they are slow and underpowered if you dont have it done
Yes. I sent the ECU to Ivan's
@oldgunnyjones4452 did it make it faster or stronger? I want to make sure I can still keep up with the club
Love your old 314 videos! We watched the coral sea cruise video in the bar. Did you have to take it down for some reason?
Yes, it was blocked because of copyright violations in the music. Sorry about that.
a lot of people miss the value of reliability. you should have more enjoyment from riding than repairing.
👍 glad I got to work with ya!

Hello from Ohio.I'm currently on the fence about purchasing a new leftover 2002 voyager 1700. My question is, would you purchase the bike again, and is a total out the door price of $15000 a good deal for a brand new 2 year old bike. Thanks ohiobackroads
@ohiobackroads1548 - - honestly, after I bought it I was feeling like I might be sorry I bought it. But I now have over 10,000 miles on it and I absolutely love riding it. I still have a Harley Road Glide Ultra that is an absolutely beautiful bike and runs awesome. I ride the Voyager way more than the Harley now. Yes! I would absolutely buy it again. I think its the best bike for the money. My Harley would be way more expensive to buy new. So would a Gold Wing or a BMW, etc., etc.. I love it.
Sexy BEAST!!! I've got a muscle cruiser right now and I'm thinking of getting a full dresser. This is on the list because I can get a new one for the same price or less than a few years old glide. Also is that a custom paint job or factory? Its soo gd pretty.
Its a factory paint job.
Lovely little Chevy Coupe!
