How Many Calories Do Each Organ and Tissue Type in Humans Use
The basic metabolic rate (BMR) refers to the amount of energy (in calories or joules) that an individual's body needs to maintain basic physiological functions while at rest. These functions include breathing, circulating blood, regulating body temperature, cell production and repair, and more. BMR varies from person to person based on factors like age, sex, weight, and genetics. It's important to note that BMR is typically measured for the whole body rather than individual organs or tissues. However, I can provide you with a general idea of how much energy different organs and tissues contribute to the overall BMR:

Dr. Baron, MD, with University of California San Francisco Medical School reviews a "meta analysis," which in this case, is a compilation and summary of 43 published major medical studies. These 43 clinical weight loss studies include 3,476 participants. Overall, adding exercise to a weight loss diet resulted in what is statistically (and practically) no difference in weight loss. The "differen...

If so, does having it make us fat? If we don't have it are we thin. Does it really matter? You decide. Some people like this guy want to have a fat gene so they can blame their obesity on the gene and not th...

See why our brains love high-fat foods and why we get "comfort" from them (i.e., comfort food). Our brains respond to high-fat food the same way as if someone was touching/holding and rewarding us (i.e., comforting us). See how the human brain responds to high fat food while being scanned in an MRI. Most of us don't have a sweet tooth as we have always believed. Instead, we have a "fat" tooth b...
Fat gene? Is that common with British ppl?
who came here from the cringe version of run the gauntlet
Alright but question. What about the opposite of these people? The perpetually skinny guys who can't get fat no matter how much they eat? I really would love to see one of these guys who think they pig out every day, and laugh in the face of fat people who can't lose weight despite dieting, only to find out they're actually consuming far less calories than they think they are.
3 cream cakes a minimum of 900 calories if they’re tiny. More like 1500-2400
True
شكراً
I feel bad because I relate. Idk her but I do similar things. I binge then I fast for a day. I get the itch to eat, yet nothing in the fridge fills the void. It's good she's doing belly dancing, and she seems rlly good at it! I have BED; binge eating disorder, so I relate to her struggles and I hope after years this was released she is going well. Even something common (in America at least lol) like BED, it's still a difficult struggle especially if you want to better yourself. I hope she's well and happy and still belly dancing ❤
Binge Eating Disorder is very overlooked since, well, America is the place for overeating, but believe me when I say it's still an eating disorder and having it feels like hell. The only thing that really Sparks that happy chemical in my brain is food. The add-on of depression especially makes it a nightmare since most things don't make me feel anything, so I go to food. I've struggled with it since elementary school. I'm 19 now. I'm sorry for ranting on like this in a random decade-old video, but ig I wanted to get this out especially when I see someone struggling with a similar issue. Have a good day.
The comments are so mean and hateful You people really hate overweight women! She was absolutely delightful
I'm fairly sure I'm in a "comment section war" with her right now, because the person I'm discussing this with persists on her exact form of poor reasoning, nearly using her exact words.
Smh this woman is nuts 🤪
It still has to be food restriction
Just eat less
PLSS LMFAOOO
This woman makes me unreasonably angry.

There are no fat men?
This sounds exactly like Amberlynn Reid..
Lol. *Doctors look nervously at each other* “The error… is in the calorie counting of the food.”
Doctors: you eat too much Lady:😲
I don't understand why she's trying to twist this to "metabolism" lol
'Forgotten'
Just put her in a cell and only shove the necessary 1400 kalories in per day for at least a month. If she still doesnt lose weight then thats a miracle. I wonder how much proof she can deny. If she still doesnt get it after that then lock her up. This level of stupidity approaches intergalactic proportions and is a danger to the space-time continuum.
She really thinks she can “burn off” 2-3 snack cakes by belly dancing very slowly in a circle. Lol.
Did anyone else realize this is Vicky from Sherlock BBC season 2? Guess she really kept it up. Good on her.
Amazing, just looked this up-I had no idea. Just goes to show how freeing this experience was for her.
🤔
This is so what I'm going with in 2021 😂 I haven't moved much for almost a year and don't understand the weight gain😮 all I eat is ice cream, McDonald's and pizza but I am a online belly dance teacher so must be my metabolism 😂🤣😂
Yeah yeah, my metabolic rate is low as well
There are 350 calories in one cream cake. If she eats 3, that’s 1050 calories already in one “meal.” One snickers bar has 245 calories. She’s up to 1300 calories already and she hasn’t even eaten a proper meal meaning she’s gonna be even more hungry due to lack of nutrients and volume. She says she eats fruit and biscuits. A biscuit can be anywhere from 40-100 calories. Fruit depends. A banana can have 70 calories, a cup of raspberry has about 50. She can easily get up 2000 calories without even factoring in a proper meal. I know a lot of people who say “there are day where I don’t eat anything” but in reality, they’re consistently shaking for the entire day.
I need this done to me lol I log everything I eat in different apps and still don't lose any fat although I started exercising. Fat loss is WAY HARDER than they say it is.
Then you need to eat less.
She took that bit of news extremely well. Most wouldn't.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not in the description.
"...thank God..." the sarcasm is dripping.
Would anyone have a link to the rest of this documentary? Very curious indeed.
I more often run into people who claim to have fast metabolism... eating a few times more than other people and still staying skinny. Ya saying that's also fake?
the slimmer you are, the more you perceive the amount you've eaten as "much". Meanwhile the fatter you are, the more you perceive your portions as "small"
To really know if they were eating a few times more, you’d have to get them all to track very carefully, plus track their movement. Sometimes people seem like they eat a lot, but they don’t snack as much or something. Maybe they simply skip those two chocolate bars that the bigger people eat. Candy can be a *lot* of calories sometimes, but it’s so easy to just pop a few in your mouth and forget you even had them.
I was the same way before I lost all my weight.
BEGONE FAT
"I cant blame it on that anymore" :/ pushing blame, yeah shes a real adult.
Dude, everyone does this in one way or another. She changed her mind pretty easily once she had evidence, and admitted it was her fault. Good on her. I know people who wouldn’t do that, even if it was proved to them.
She was just being humorous.
So can we just drop the nice act and just finally lay down hard mean truth? Without sugar coating it? 18 years of this shit has solved nothing. Fat shaming works. S'how I lost all the weight I wanted to lose.
Fat shaming doesn't work for everyone. Motivation and a hard ass trainer who accepts no excuses yes!
@@user-sh2rc5kc7x Nah, it works. At least on the ones who arent mentally retarded
ok seriously woman let's lock you in a room with no food and only water for a week and see what happens. she is lying, straight up.
bbhouk1 those 3-4 cream cakes for dinner she's eating is 1200-1600 calories. That's the weight loss window for women, she's well over doing it.
Eating nothing she should lose 1-2 lbs a day. Eating nothing and walking 10 miles a day she'd lose even more. Protip: don't do this, kids. The American Heart Association recommends 1-2 lbs a week as being a healthy weight loss and that's exactly how I did it. I lost 36 or 37 lbs by now, and my goal was to get down to about 125. I am not a large person and I am not meant to be a large person. All I did was cut out carbs and sugar. Hell I didn't even cut out alcohol, gin and diet tonic for the win. I didn't change my exercise amount, yeah I walk and ride my bike a fair bit but was doing that before.
"It's not the amount of calories, it's what you eat" No. It's literally the opposite. You can eat pretty much anything you want and not get fat provided you don't eat craptons of it. I know this for a fact because I practice this myself and I am not a big fat bastard. Eat less = don't gain weight. It is absolutely that simple.
She might not understand that you can not work-out a bad diet. I would know, I have lost and gain so much weight with the exact same workout routine but different diets. 😬🙂
Btw, isn't she supposed to need a bit more than 2000 calories (maybe 2500) to maintain her weight? In the video it says according to her height and age she needs 2000. But isn't weight also a factor to how much you need to burn?
Yeah, weight is also a factor. I would think maintaining her current weight would be more than 2,000, for sure. Unless she has a REALLY sedentary lifestyle, maybe... When I started my weight loss, I was losing weight at 2,000 calories, and I was smaller than her. Now I need about 1,850 just to maintain.
Her goal wasn't to maintain, but to lose weight. Eat the number of calories for the weight you want to weigh and you will lose weight until you get to that value. As long as you are in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Once you reach your target weight, you will no longer be in a deficit and you will stop losing weight.
I still believe there is more to it than calories in-calories out. Of course this can be used to make excuses and not be honest about what you are eating, but does that mean that when a person complains about not being able to lose weight, it's always 100% their fault? We shouldn't dismiss other variables so easily just to make our case. It's laziness for those who do not have the problem to look further and just say fat people are lazy and dismiss any alternatives. I am actually thinking what does it mean when you are diabetic. Isn't diabetes about your cells resisting insulin, aka they resist to a portion of the energy given from glucose? Doesn't that mean that not all calories-in are efficiently used by your cells/burned and some of them even flow in your blood and converted to more fat in your body. So, wouldn't it mean someone with diabetic conditions (which I think most people that are as obese as this woman would find out if tested) will make the calories-in-out model more complicated?
I'm suspected of Type 2 diabetes. Got my BG levels down to normal by simply paying attention to what I eat. Went from fasting BG of 180 mg/dL (sorry to the readers who use mmols) down to between 95 and 110 mg/dL. I was already pretty active, but you cannot outrun your fork. If you are putting chocolate milk and donuts in your mouth instead of apples, broccoli and other fruits and vegetables, you will gain weight. If you get a food scale and actually measure what you are eating, even if you are a type 2 diabetic, you will lose weight. When you do, there is a good change your insulin resistance will go away because you are not bombarding your cells and liver with excess glucose. Now I'm not totally there yet. I can go to bed 3 - 4 hours after a meal with a BG level of 85 mg/dL and wake up with a BG level that is 10-15mg/dL higher. Then, after a gym or spin class/bike ride I'll be back down to a sub 100 mg/dL reading for normal. If you are insulin resistant, that's no excuse to get fat. That just means you have to pay attention to what you are eating to get your nutrition. I'm 5'11" tall, and down to 242# from 265# over the past 7 weeks. My dietitian has me on a 2250 calorie diet that is 40% carbs at 225g/day, not more than 60g/meal and another 45g/day in snacks. The other 60% of my diet is fats and protein. If you keep putting too much food in your body, especially carbs, you may not be getting enough nutrients, so you are still "hungry." Do that long enough and you may develop IR or T2 diabetes. But start paying attention to what you eat and you just may reverse all of that. T2 diabetes doesn't have to be inevitable. But you do have to actually measure what you eat and be honest and accurate with yourself.
And two months later, I'm down to 227# and my A1C has gone from 7.3 to 5.4 since 14 Feb. Imagine, changing what and how much is on the end of the fork makes a difference.
And then last month, another DR visit and my A1C was down to 5.1 and my weight is down to 215# Fork put downs and table push backs for the win.
If calories aren't being used efficiently, then that just means less calories out, so it still just all boils down to calories-in-calories-out.
The comment section acts like they know everything and have their shit straight. You don't have to be rude on her, even dieticians underreport the calorie intake. Counting calories is a skill that needs to be educated about. So it's not entirely her fault either. Hope she changes her health for better.
saniyauzumaki, unless shes been chained up and forced fed, what she eats is ENTIRELY her fault.
saniyauzumaki counting calories is easy asf
Figuring out portion is a giant pain in the arse. What does 4oz of meat look like? 3/4C almonds? Its easy to mess up, and mess up consistently.
Really easy, get out your food scale, they are about $20 on Amazon and weigh your food. While I don't weigh the spinach or peppers I put in an omelette or salad, you can bet I weigh the chicken breast, cheese and dressings or sauces. I've done it long enough that I can make a pretty good estimate of what is on my plate at a restaurant. So yeah, I agree it takes experience. But you have to want to learn. How many people have a smart phone in their hand, but can't be bothered to look up nutrition information? There are some rules of thumb to use. For me, a 4oz serving of meat is about 2/3rd to 3/4s the size of the palm of my hand. So if I'm having a steak or a chicken breast and it's bigger than my hand, I either cut it down and take the remainder to go, or I log it in my food diary as 6-8oz, not a 4oz serving. So your body does have built in scales if you will, if you learn to use them. But one has to decide they are going to learn to use them and be mindful of what they eat.
purpleanex There’s a difference between something being due to your own changeable actions, and being your fault. Just because it’s her changeable actions that made her fat, doesn’t mean you can say it’s her fault necessarily. Innocent ignorance is a real thing.
Fat _and_ stupid. My kind of girl... =|
Ayy haha
Well, at least she belly dances. There's that. I wonder if she gave up eating fruit and drinking water after a week or two and saw no weight-loss results. I find it sometimes takes a few months of CONSISTENT healthy eating before seeing amy noticeable results.
"Even if I don't eat, I still don't lose wait. ..... ..... ..... That's not the only factor in weight loss, dumbass.
perfect example of the brain dead logic that is fueling the obesity epidemic of westen societies, she heard the same words i did when those doctors spoke to her, but her fucked up mind completely changed it around
