Herringbone Bind Off
Просмотров 479Год назад
This is the Bind Off method I used for my Monroe Beach Cardigan Replica and for the Starsky Cardigan Replica. It consists of a couple of rows of herringbone in the round and then the stitches are placed on one needle to make the bind off. The result is a nice braided edge. Just a note that this cuff is not at all stretchy, but it is nicely decorative.
Double Sided Twisted Ribbing Stitch
Просмотров 455Год назад
This is the main body stitch pattern for my Monroe Beach Cardigan Replica and my Starsky Cardigan Replica. It’s sort of like a twisted ribbing, but the stitches are twisted in different directions every row and every stitch. It’s also a fully reversible stitch pattern. It looks exactly the same on the front and the back. This is a four row repeat pattern that can be worked on any number of even...

Herringbone Cast On
Просмотров 741Год назад
This is the cast on method I used for the Monroe Beach Cardigan Replica and the Starsky Cardigan Replica. It uses waste yarn, a crochet hook and two cable needles. It’s an unusual way of casting on stitches, but it’s fun and it makes a reversible edge that is very unique.

Thanks! Now I can finally fix my mistakes instead of having to frog entire rows!
@@stokdrol yay!!
Other than wishing you had a towel on the table, I found this video helpful ☺️
Everytime I try it this way my stitches are wrong side out I don't understand
Thanks so much. This way of holding the yarn makes it so easy.
Amazing thank you
I know this is an older video but it’s so helpful being able to access this kind of help when you’re new to yarn! Thank you😊
This is simply gorgeous! I am looking frantically for 2-color corrugated ribbing on double knitting!😅 Is it even possible to do? I have an afghan in fair isle pattern that has corrugated ribbing around edges…I want to do it double knitting so the floats don’t catch on nails & little fingers….Thank you for reading my question!
Feest Turnpike
Now I can dust off my old steamer that's been in the basement for 9 years and me, just learning this technique after 5 years of being a knitter. Just started knitting cotton projects. Keep this post up forever. It's a God-send.
How to get even tension when knitting continental
@@annettefranklin158 the tension is regulated by the yarn wrapped around my pinky. There are many different ways to keep tension even, but that is my preferred method. If the yarn is really slippery, I wrap it several times. If the yarn is “sticky”, I only wrap once or not at all.
@@donielleshowvaytheknitting165 thank you so very much
If one were following a pattern that didn’t have that contrast stripe at the bottom, would you just knit the dark stitches with the dark yarn or would you skip that step and go right to Kitchener stitch?
You’ll need to knit across just one side of the fabric first before using kitchener to graft. So without the contrast for your pattern, you would use the dark yarn on dark and then kitchener with the light color.
Just found this. Thank you so very much. Even though this is 3 years old it's helping me today. Brilliant.
Do you only knit into the back leg for that first row or is this continuous through out?
You will continue knitting into the back leg. Please see the Slipped Stitch Edge for Double Knitting video to see how to knit across subsequent rows: ruclips.net/video/K0F0Z3A1yL0/видео.htmlsi=CPL0ItYjJ8I0TAu6
Can you show me how to make the cardigan collar?
May I ask For the needle, what number needle can be use for double knitting so the the knitting look beautiful. Thank you frm indonesia.
Turn off the music. It makes it hard to hear what you're saying (and it's not necessary). Thanks for the lesson!!
Why are you putting the dark stitches on the two needles knitwise through the back loop and then knitting through the back loop? Couldn’t you just do the dark stitches on purlwise just like the lighter and knit normally?
I just started your Tree of Gondor blanket and when I come to the end of the first row should I unravel the slip knot?
The answer to that question depends on whether you counted the beginning two strands of yarn in your slip knot as part of the count for the cast on. If you included them, then you would not slip it out, but instead use the two strands as part of your next row. If you did not include them in the cast on count, then you will need to slip it out. 😁
This was very helpful ❤ i have a cart whit cddp... is that the same as pccd?
working on a patchwork knit blanket kit and almost done with the last set of 6 blocks. the pattern calls for dpn's for the join so i searched and this came up. I hope this technique will work for the short joins used to make long strips and for joining the long strips...
It is beautiful
Thank you! ❤️
What’s the Congo or whatever method you did? Why knit in the back loop to orientate? Is there a different cast on that’s correct from the start?
Combo knitting is basically winding the yarn in a clockwise direction when purling and a counter clockwise direction when knitting. You can do the same cast on as in the video, but wind the yarn counter clockwise for the purl stitches and it will be oriented differently.
Plse tell me, if I want to knit a cap in the round with 144 sts but I am double knitting, do I need to cast on double that amount of stitches?
You are correct! Since double knitting is basically knitting two side of fabric at once, you’ll need double the amount of stitches. Be sure to do a swatch to make sure your hat will fit perfectly! 😉
You're an angel. Thank you for the video, it was easy to follow. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
I like this very much - it's nice to make a unifying feature of the join - especially if you're joining different-coloured squares. Thanks for posting!
Glad you liked this technique!
What a wonderful video. I just stumbled upon your channel and I am a new subscriber. Thanks so much.
Thanks for subbing!
So well demonstrated ❤🎉
Only difference is my index finger is bent by some reason when I do like that
0:45 so helpful thanks!!!@ ❤❤❤😊😊😊 new sibscriber ❤❤😊😊
Thanks for subbing!
Thank you so so much, your video is much much better than the other cat’s paws, than the one I Saw. Now I know how I Will make my niece’s sweater. You are the best to explain. ❤❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Would you say this joining stitch is strong enough to use on a big blanket made of a very chunky yarn? I'm concerned the stitches would stretch due to the weight of the blanket.
This should be a very strong join. 👍🏻
I really liked this stitch. I like the embroidery effect, the flat seam and using crochet on a knitted piece! Easy to do once your practice a little and it’s a great finish, thank you!
I KNOW YOU ❤️ 😁😁😁
I know you too! Hi Ella! 🥰
This is great thanks, it also looks symmetrical from the wrong side! 😁
You are right!
Any newbies watching, DO NOT COPY THIS VIDEO! SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE DOING! You must have only been knitting in total of your life for 1 hour! If that! Your very first purl stitch you did the correct way way, counter clock wise! The rest where you tried to show off, you're wrapping it clockwise, thus twisting the stitch each time! Then there's your choice of yarn to demonstrate! Why didn't you use dental floss, it's even thinner, or sewing thread to make even harder to see if that's what you were trying to do!!!!🤨🙄 So it can be seen clearer, use at least a Double Knit weight yarn!
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. The way I twist the yarn is purposeful in order to allow for less movement in the yarn when holding it Continental and using combination knitting to do this double knitting technique. I apologize for the thin yarn I used. I am a professional knitter but I don’t claim to be a professional videographer.
Why did you go on the attack at the outset? You could have brought your point across without all that drama and the insults. Everyone does the best they an with what they have, with what they know and with their particular skill set. If you didn't enjoy the video, or you felt it didn't give you what you needed to know, you could have asked a question or moved on. There are so many other tutorials, I am sure you would have found what ypu were looking for elsewhere. And if your knitting is so very outstanding and you're an expert videographer, then by all means go ahead and make your own videos and help those of us still navigating this world. Please. And I hope that those viewing are kinder to you than you have been here. Love and light to you❤
So cool. Thank you.
This is an amazing tutorial thanks!
Great video! Thank you for showing them both in combination and as part of the larger work. This makes a lot more sense efficiency-wise than picking up a cable needle and putting it down a million times. 🤩 I also knit continental, so that was super helpful, too! ❤ from Iowa
Thank you sooooo much❤❤❤ You are my big teacher😊
Thank you for sharing this tutorial, but what if we are finishing a project that does not require an I-cord? How do we finish those last three stitches?
Thanks for asking! You would just continue to use Kitchener as on previous stitches until you reach the end of the row. Then cut the yarn and weave in the ends neatly.
@@donielleshowvaytheknitting165Thank you!
Thanks very much for this simple explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Good video, straight to the point. Thx 👍👍
I wish this video show more about how to make the slip stitched edge and less of continental knitting tips 😢
Thank you for the constructive criticism. I appreciate tips on how to make my tutorial videos better. :)
It would be more helpful if you showed what the pattern is before you work on it. The video is good, but you go to fast. I am new to traveling cables .
Thank you for the helpful criticism. I’ll work on slowing it down on my future videos to make the process clearer. :)
Wow!! 🤩
Absolutely the BEST tutorial for Intarsia cables and how to make the back look neat. Thank you so much for the fantastic video!!
Happy you enjoyed it!
This video is a game changer for my purling! Thanks!
Do you need to have the same number of stitches? I am learning how to do different stitches to make a patch-work looking blanket and I’ve noticed that one of the squares is much smaller than the other ones even though I casted the same number of stitches on. What are your thoughts? Thanks!!!
If you have different sizes of squares or differing numbers of stitches/rows, you can ease the sewing together by pinning the two pieces together first and then you can skip a stitch here and there to make the two fit together smoothly. Hope that helps!
Are you knitting every stitch?
Yes. In this video I am knitting both front and back because I’m making a pocket on the leg of a sock. 😁 Normally in double knitting you knit the front and purl the back. 👍🏻
@@donielleshowvaytheknitting165 Thank you for clarifying 🙂
I really like your videos but I strongly prefer that you don’t have on background music bc its very distracting while I’m processing your lessons.
Thank you for the advice! I’ll keep it in mind for the next time I make another tutorial. 😁
