Ai-Kon Winnipeg 2023 | artist alley vlog, my first travel con, behind the scenes, how much $ I made!
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
Hi all! Welcome to my first video!! :) Take a shot everytime I mention "first travel con" in my video. 😂 I recently went and sold at my first anime convention in artist alley AND travel convention so I thought I'd bring you guys along with me to the convention prep, the actual convention, and lots of behind the scenes. I hope to do more larger events like this in the future, and more videos for...
People might not be aware that they notice your product grouping but in a subtle, psychological way it likely helps the consumer have a less chaotic experience.
I agree! I think the design organization helps customers subconsciously. It's always interesting to see what catches someone's eyes first, and where it drifts off too, and I definitely notice patterns.
I love watching your videos, new subbie :)
Aw thank you!! Welcome :)
Vlog quality improving love it. Insane escalators bonanza at fan expo 👹
hehe thanks! <3
I appreciate you in your position as a seller acknowledging that conventions can be overstimulating. I always feel bad when I ask a question about prices, only to see a sign with it two seconds later. Even if the halls are pretty dead, I am mentally unable to process so much stuff in one place, even though I’d love to!
I totally get it! I get overwhelmed often myself. I feel like sometimes us artists and exhibitors forget we spend majority of our times tucked away behind our booths away from the crowds. I usually like to walk around to get a feel for what being an attendee feels like. There's a lot to look at when you visit a SINGLE table. Now as a browser, you could be looking at dozens or hundreds of tables!
ok nice
thanks! xoxo
Do you have an WTA on when a restock of the corgi keychains will be?
I think I'll have them by mid-October! :)
this was such a fun watch! glad to see another Canadian artist
thanks for your kind feedback!! :)
id bark for a chance w u baby girl say the word
WOOF WOOF BARK BARK WOOF AWOOOOOOO
RUFF RUFF RUFF RUUUUUUH 👹👹👹👹
So inspiring!
aw!! thank you
*me being sad I am in the U.S and can't bark nor give you my best puppy dawg eyes for a ribbon.....*
hahah maybe I'll do a ribbon rally at a US event one day! :D
Heh con artists 😅 3:44
Heh oops! Convention artist 🤣
This is going to sound very silly----but have you thought of putting the baby corgos in a cage so when people adopt them they "set them free???" This sounds so silly but I think that would be so silly and fun!
omg I already get so much "hate" from vacuum sealing them into bags. that would be EVIL LOL
YAY so nice to finally meet u and mr. corgooo :) hopefully will see u again soon 🥺
YESS SO NICE TO FINALLY MEET!! Until our paths cross again <3
it was so interesting to hear the experience of a seller. The artist alley was really hard to travel this year with the high amounts of people, the heat and the costumes. i would lie if I said I didn't rush thru some row just so I could take a breath but I know a lot of people would go back to do the rows they rushed thru during a less busy moment of the day. If people are interested in your merch they will for sure come back and it helps that you have a visible banner higher up!
I definitely agree! I think the general consensus amongst everyone was that it was HOOOT and cramped. I love walking around artist alley, and this was my first event choosing not to do a walk through. Regardless, I hope you had a great time! And I agree, if people are interested, they'll definitely come back. It also helps to have some higher up signage (ex: my banner). :) It means the world when people do take time out of their day to come back, it means we left a great impression!! hehe
Soooo nice to finally meet you in person!! 🥹🥰
WAH T___T so nice to finally meet you after all these years. Hope to see you again, already missing you guys!!
Your setup looks so good 😭 I didn't attend Otakuthon this year but now I wish I did so I could've gotten a couple things from your booth!
AW thank you!! I appreciate the thought HAHA. We hope to be back next year, so maybe we can catch each other then! :D
hello! I really love your banner. would you mind sharing where you got it? Thank you!
thanks! they're vinyl banners, which you can get from many printing shops. the scallop shaping is from me cutting it!
girl.. your hair looks so soft can we get the haircare routine HAHA
honestly... all genetics... LOL I just wash, dry, and comb! HAHA
An idea you can use is the artist here on RUclips, Le Spirit Design, she uses piechart of income vs expenses, so she doesnt need to use specific numbers. Check out her market vlogs towards the end to see an idea of what she does, it may be easier for you if you want honesty without exposure 🙌
Love this idea!! Will definitely explore this and see what works for me! :) Thanks for sharing!!
omg i was at aikon as well!!
Did you have a good time?! 🥰
@@littlecorgo I did!!
I hope you come back next year 😭 everything was so cute!
Aw thank you so much!! We love Ai-Kon so much, the vibes are immaculate so we definitely want to be back for 2025 ❤
People sure love their Corgies. You’re the second small business I follow dedicated to them. Did you see Tuna there?
@@Christina24life Hahaha we love our bread looking dogs! 😂 and yes, I saw Tuna! She’s a good artist friend of mine heh
This was a very entertaining and insightful vlog! I was also one of those con-goers who approached you to mention your vlog haha! Glad you had a generally positive Ai-kon experience this year. :) I actually spotted myself in the background of your video as well for like a second which was super cool as well!!
@@foreverhelloween3569 Ahhh!! Thank you so much for popping by, and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the vlog!! Hope you enjoyed the con 🥰
Glad this vlog was uploaded so soon! I was one of those people that went up to you on Day 1, again really great that you had another wonderful Ai-kon! The vlogs are pretty great view from the vendor side, which is not really a side that is seen by most. Hope to see y'all again next year!
@@onionbananas on my gosh!! Thank you for popping by, it really meant the world to me. 🥺 I appreciate you taking time to watch the vlog, glad to hear you enjoyed it. Hoping to be back for 2025 💕
Are you guys coming back to aikon!
We will!!! See you in 3 weeks 😉
The green for sure. If I can't get it in black a deep green/grey or brown are def the next best
im big corgo fam fan CORGO PHAN ....
amaze thank u we love tobifam too <3
I'm just seeing this now but thank you for making this vlog!! I was cosplaying at Ai-kon 2023 so it's really cool to come across a vlog of someone else who was there! I'm considering becoming a vendor myself in the future so this video was very informative on what that experience might be like :)
Aww thank you! I hope you had fun as an attendee. :) I really love Ai-Kon, the vibes are immaculate and Winnipeg locals are very sweet. Will you be coming this year?
@@littlecorgo Absolutely, it was so fun that it was the highlight of my entire year!! I am for sure coming again this year (I will be in a hijabi cosplay as Byleth from Fire Emblem) so I look forward to checking out your booth if you are also coming again! :)
@@foreverhelloween3569 We'll be back this summer! See you in a couple weeks. :)
should have just put your stuff in the car, save lots on shipping which takes from your profits
Yep I know! I usually just travel with my inventory and set up. I was under certain circumstances, so I had to ship my items to Seattle!
who gave u yellow yeti cup lol!
omg babes.. it appears for 10 seconds weirdo.. 😂
Seattle was so much fun! Love the honest opinions on your trip ❤
Thanks for always being the best travel partner! 🥰💛
Loved the vlog as well as your transparency on how the market went and Oliver's reactivity! 💖
Thanks for watching!! Appreciate the comment ❤❤
Loved all the Oliver content!!
HI TINA!! Thanks for watching! I should've filmed him more, I didn't want this to be so Oliver-centric but I'll include more of him next timeee HEHE
I love corgis! I went to Ai-Kon last year but I must have missed your shop. If you're coming back this year, I'll try and buy something!
HAHA no worries, the artist alley is HUGE! Hope to see you at my table next month!
I only got recommended this now but I'm glad you were able to make your money back and then some. I remember seeing your table and really wanting to get something but my budget isn't the greatest😔 But if I see you again this year I'll make sure to pick something up :]
Aw thank you so much! This is such a sweet comment! Don't worry about purchasing, I know money has been tight for everyone. Your support and kind message is plenty for me! I will be back again this year at Ai-Kon, stop by and say hello! :)
omg i remember you at ai kon!!!
Aw that's so awesome to hear! I'll be back again this summer, are you attending?!
@@littlecorgo I am! I can’t wait to see you guys again!!
@@huyn_ebuns Ahh!! See you!! I'm super stoked haha
This was very informative, thank you for sharing! Very interesting to hear the Vancouver/Winnipeg differences. I wonder if it will be helpful to contact local artists to help you gauge the items to bring better
The regional and city differences is really interesting to see! I've started travelling to other places for events, and my best sellers are all over the place, it's strange!
Please go to aikon again sometime!!
I will be back this July!!
Hi, it’s nice to find another Canadian artist on RUclips. I love following artists and seeing their journeys. Keep up the good work 😊
Aw, thanks so much for such a sweet comment!! I appreciate it :)
Hello❤ new subbie here 💗🥰
Hello!!! <3
Thank you for breaking down everything in the costs and revenue! You have really great tips and things to keep in mind for other people who are looking in to getting into artist alley - especially liked the hot tip about vacuum seal packing, and remembering to count pet care into the costs❤ I've tried tabling at an artist alley a month ago, and I made table back, but the profits were modest. Do you have any suggestions for people who are just starting out?
Thanks so much for your comment!! I'd love to make a video sharing my suggestions and tips, so keep an eye out for that!
I love your art! I’m not a huge corgi fan but I will try out your stationery. It looks high quality. Keep up the great work!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the event! This is probably more helpful to a lot of us small business owners than you think! Thanks for being honest and transparent showing the ups and downs. You did amazing and I’m sure if you could of fit more inventory it would of been great but don’t beat yourself up about that. Traveling to market events is hard when you’re limited what you can bring. Hopefully those people who didn’t purchase at the event will purchase online! ❤❤
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message, and for taking the time to watch!! ❤❤
what a great watch!! the first travel con experience seems like such a scary thing to me, this video really helped! 🤗👍🌸
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! It's definitely scary, but now that I've gone through it, it's pretty similar to going to a local event... but you're spending more money, and stuffing your luggages. 🤣
Dang! You've made more money in one convention than I have my entire convention run! UK conventions are rubbish!
I think it definitely depends on the conventions you go to, and what you sell! I've had my fair share of bad markets and events.
As a Corgi owner and Dog crazy lady you should totally look into go selling at a Dog Show or even a Corgi Community event. ^.^ I would buy all your stuff If I saw your things. <3
Aw thank you! I've been considering going to local Corgi events, but surprisingly there's not many, or I just missed all of them.. HAHA
Super Cute!
