To flip octave & bass strings, do you have to change the bridge and nut? I'd like to try this on my 12-string.

Nice playing but, at least to my ears, this was a lot of work put into a guitar that is never going to sound much better that it did before. Indeed, the original ladder bracing probably lent itself more to the strengths, such as they are. Just my two-cents. But hey, whatever someone wants to do with their time and guitars is all good by me!

I own the same guitar but in mahogany compared to this rosewood body. Rid myself of all my guitars and this was the one keeper. As good as any Martin or Gibson from the period and a totally overlooked and underappreciated instrument. To those who own one they know they have a gem and one day the rest of the world will realise.

I got one of his guitars but mine has the fancy inlays.

Amazing tone. The player is very gifted. I have been fascinated by the x brace conversion and purchased one from a smaller company. It was his 33rd rebuild I think. Anyway it’s pretty good. Tonally it’s nice, not quite as complex as showcased in this video, similar fundamentals, yours has more reverb and overtones. The neck set is good but he didn’t wedge the fretboard so there is a sever dip below the 14th which isn’t a huge deal. Frets are laid well, crowning wasn’t great, leveling was okay. Easy fix. Main issue is intonation. The variation is too great throughout the fretboard even if I have it dialed in on the twelfth. So fret placement is still off after crowning the frets, frets were installed in the original place. Does baxendale check the fret placement prior to regretting? Or could that be requested? It’s well known Harmony kind of threw these together. Also, do these guitars break in as they have new bracing and a new bridge plate? Thanks!

I own Martin guitars but I noticed these Iris guitars have a nice tone and good sound to them also. And the player is a good player as well. Is this guitar a short scale or long scale? A true triple -0 is 24.9 .
