    Thank you for demonstrating this Conn 2H. I think both you and the horn sound fantastic on this song. It has a very focused tone with a bright edge. How does it feel for you to play since it has a very small bore compared to small bore horns made today?

    • @ericheidner6355
      @ericheidner6355 2 года назад

      Thank you for the kind words! I usually play a large bore symphonic tenor (a Bach 42) as my main horn, so this is indeed quite a change in sound! It definitely is brighter, but not so bright as other small-bore trombones by other makers from that era, such as King, Olds, and Holton. It may have something to do with the fact that this Conn 2H is entirely gold-plated, but I'm not sure. The flexibility is much easier on this horn than on a large tenor (as you can hear in my lip trills), and I can see why Arthur Pryor liked his Conn 2H so much. Incidentally, I was using a modern Bach 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece (small shank, of course) with this instrument, so that may have also affected the overall timbre. Thanks for listening--I had actually forgot that I posted this video!
