VIDIUS Sustainability is a student-led committee organised by 5 students at Utrecht University. Our goal is to educate current and new coming students at Utrecht and in the Netherlands about how to live more sustainably and participate in interesting activities.
What is greenwashing ?
In this video we will explore the topic of greenwashing and why it is relevant for students to understand it. We will discuss 3 companies that have been accused of greenwashing and 3 companies that are actively trying to improve on their sustainability goals.

However, many students have been throwing away these cups instead of keeping them or returning them. Coca Cola is also funding "The Ocean Cleanup" to be able to present the company in a good light. But it really is just them partially owning up to the mess they created themselves. A good friend of mine is leading an initiative in the Philippines called "Tropical Ocean Cleanup" where he tried to educate, introduce recyling, and most importantly uses floating barriers to catch garbage going down canals into the ocean. And Coca Cola brand plastic bottles are one of the most frequent findings in the garbage heaps collected from the rivers and canals.
Great video! The easiest way to ensure you actually buy sustainable products is to buy less so you can spend the time that you've saved, researching the most sustainable option for the products you do actually need :)
