thank you for this! i have been a home roaster for four years now and looking to expand into something that i can do back to back roasts and a nice capacity i think the kaldi might be the ticket great vid nice roast.

Is chaft collecter worth it?

Honestly, for that kind of money, I'd want temperature control and I would expect the burner to be built into the roaster. It's nice though, looks like good roasts.

Is that a hopper from a Hottop I see on your table? Did you upgrade from a Hottop to a Kali wide?

Your beans came out looking great! How are you liking it so far? Have the roast been getting better? I am also looking at the Kaldi Wide 400 and the Aillio Bullet v2, but the bullet is like a grand more than the Kaldi, so that might be a deal breaker for me. Right now I am roasting on a home built roaster using a cheap eBay mini drum roaster I picked up for $50 and my butane grill. I get some decent roasts out of it as I modded it quite a bit with a thermocouple and a cage around the drum. I am not as good a narrator as you are but I did make a video when I roasted some beans for my brother. Check it out if you would like, forgive the music...lol. I built my own cooling box using some left over wood, a screen, a blower fan and an Amazon delivery box. Uploaded July 2021, after many years of home coffee roasting initially with a popcorn popper and then with the Hottop home coffee roaster. Did a lot of research and settled on the Kaldi Wide 400 home coffee roaster. Check out my video including my little mishap where I burn part of the paint on the roaster. Anyway overall I’m very happy with the roaster as well as the shaft collector cooler. Compared to the Hottop Roaster my roasting is much cleaner and less messy. The taste of the coffee is amazing and I like having complete control over the roast. I modulated the temperature using the gas as well as the controller on the chaff collector and cooler which I highly recommend.. On my next roasting session I plan to roast in the garage as there’s little to no chaff that gets left on the ground.
