Magi's terminal is freaking awesome. Chat with it or use it like a regular terminal. It's up to you. A cool piece of tech here is asr.py, which does all of the voice transcription and dumps what you command over STD out. It stops listening when it sees a e-speak process. Pretty handy and versatile. I think the huuuuuge benefit of upbge is moreso on the art side of things. You dont have to import and export models. You can create a model entirely within blender and then it just looks like that at runtime. No need to build custom shaders in unity or godot everything just works. The other huuuuge benefit is full control over post process effects. You can use the real time compositor to add bloom, vignette, lens distortion, pixelation, posterization etc. it's so much more dynamic and customizable than anything I've seen in any other engine. Long time blender user here who loves to make models and animations. Being able to directly see exactly what I want immediately in actual gameplay all from within one program can not be understated how amazong that is. I hope Upbge gets more eyes on it as it's literally the last piece of the blender puzzle to make it the perfect all in one software.

      Somewhat, I am working on a web interface to expose the MAGI AIs to local devices on your network. The idea is you can use low powered hardware around your house with the web interface of MAGI OS. Technically this functionality could be extended to work over the internet, but that was not in my init purpose.

      Haha. Oh sure, just figured it was not worth the extra compute and delay. To be honest, with the separation of VRAM and system RAM, hardware today isn't built for an operating system like this. I'm really hoping we see some unified memory systems in the near future. (Outside of apple, and more powerful than the Steam Deck)

      Technically this doesn't use containers. It uses a dedicated Python environment per model. In my very biased opinion, my way is much more elegant and efficient than Docker or any containerization system.

  • @guitarmeetsscience
    @guitarmeetsscience Месяц назад

    Very cool! I'm going to keep following developments on this, it would be interesting to have the ability to essentially tell your operating system what to do. Do you plan on eventually integrating its own feedback - meaning that when you give it a task it checks results intermediately and then updates until it achieves the goal? That would be pretty insane. Keep up the good work

    • @davidhamner
      @davidhamner Месяц назад

      Totally! I would like to do something like that. I have been playing with a goal system in bash, it tends to work for at least a few steps. Longer tasks can start to decohere and start doing random things as the context window fills. I think it's definitely doable, but it's going to require a lot of effort to maintain proper context as many steps get taken.

    Nice code

  • @Binxalot
    @Binxalot 2 месяца назад

    This is very cool. It would be interesting to see where this could go. You could have a bunch of saved prompts for each model that will pre-generate apps for use on the fly. "Please make me an image editor" , "please make an email client" etc. As models improve and consumer hardware adapts it'll be possible to do this quickly, this is a great start. Hell you could have the prompts ready on boot, where right after logon, it just asks you 'what are you looking to do today" and your answer builds out the desktop with just the tools you need right then.

    • @davidhamner
      @davidhamner 2 месяца назад

      I love that idea! In the past, I built a bash interface that implemented this. For example, if you typed in ls, it would program a command called ls and then execute it. The biggest downside is it was slow and somewhat inconsistent. Tho it could make up cool commands like "rename_all_files_to_lowercase", which would build that command just based on it's name. Scaled up to a desktop, it would be unbelievably slow for now. Something like two to five minutes to open a basic application for the first time. Perhaps creating a high-level, intermediate programming language that uses few tokens, and is used by AI to create basic interfaces could speed things up. Another idea is to use a stable diffusion type system, where the UI is drawn fully by ai kinda like gamengen.

    Why not work with kvm/qemu source code and let people use your ai tools with any os?

    • @davidhamner
      @davidhamner 2 месяца назад

      The AI tools rely on Ollama an PyTorch. So it's easy to install on other distros. (Just clone and run setup.py). The full distro is to make it simple for others to use without setup. I'd say kvm/qemu is a bit overkill as it really only needs the working Ollama an PyTorch, and most distros make that fairly easy to install native.
