You're close to the money as to why they disabled Theatre mode for these games. As it was easily exploitable for "unauthorised modding" of the game, they took it out to improve the "Quality of Life" for average players. A sequel for Black Ops is bound to bring players back into the previous games, and whilst they officially "sunset" support for BO1 and BO2 all those years ago, it looks better for Treyarch and Activision if they ensure their previous games are still playable. There are many examples of game developers quietly patching old games to keep them playable and it's usually (but not always) because they're working on a sequel, or keeping their options open for a potential sequel or spin-off.

Remaster WaW-bo2 end the series and bring money in with all those great titles on next gen

The infection mods still exist. They did disable theater mode, that part is true, however so many people got on that day that the servers crashed. So, what did they do? Well, they re-enabled theater mode, the modders got their mods back, players left, and the player count plummeted, but the servers were working again. BO2 was finally playable again for less than 24 hours, and it was the most fun i’ve had on that game in a while.

Ahem, CoD MW is not shit. It is the best CoD we have had in a while. Ghosts was a complete flop, AW was a bit better, BO3 was nothing to tell mom about, Infinite Warfare sucked ass and MWR was good but not the OG CoD 4, WW2 was alright in my opinion, and don’t get me started on BO4 but MW, it ain’t perfect but it is much better than what we got for 6 years straight and I am not saying these are bad I just saying they aren’t as good as the previous ones but MW was a refresh, a new start and is much better. Also by saying MW is dogshit you are saying CoD BO Cold War is too because they will be in the same universe now.
