Great British Market Towns - Henley on Thames
Henley on Thames is one of the most beautiful towns in England. Henley’s riverside location, surrounded by a Chiltern landscape of wooded hills and green fields, lends itself to relaxation, long lunches and quirky shopping. There’s a pub where Charles I drank, a Chantry house, a butcher that smokes his own meat and independent shops still offering the personal touch.

Great British Market Towns - Ware 4K

In the 18th century, Ware was the premier malting town in England, specialising in brown malt for the brewing of a beer known as `porter'. Fortunes were made (and lost) in the malting industry and men were drawn to the town to work in the maltings or on the barges which took the malt to the breweries of London. Ware is full of architectural jewels - many of them timber-framed. English Heritage ...

Great to see my home town though not lived there since late 80's. it's lovely now , but in the late '60's and '70's was rather different prospect , only 30- 35 miles from London, but half the population had never been there! furthest they ever got was Aylesbury. Lot of local's rural accents so thick you almost think you where in the West Country .As for local secondary school I attended.... enough said !😂

Nice to see how little has changed like the Kings Arms where, after he had retired, he went each morning for his half-pint and then did the shopping and Lloyd's Bank where I and my mother both banked -- if you asked to see your account they showed you a 6 x 8in index card carefully written up in ink!

Agreed, that was a fail, a tour of Gascoyne Way (the relief road) then back into Parliament Square and The Wash, then via Old Cross and Cowbridge to Bengeo. I've lived in the town since 1953, so in your next video be sure to show viewers actually what the town has to offer, including some of the main historic buildings and churches, its riverside walks and do it on foot! Notice how there are a number of stone buildings, when in fact there is no local stone, only flint and the conglomerate "pudding stone". Most of the smaller and therefore older buildings are largely constructed of timber and faced with a render over rough wooden battens. The clue is All Saints Church, built in Runcorn stone from Cheshire because when the original church burnt down, Lancastrian architects were employed to design a grander replacement parish church.
