The Bluffs at Long Ridge
This was our second hike of the new year and it was a great one. We went south and east of Deer, AR. to check out the bluff line at Long Ridge. There are some amazing rock features and cave like shelters along this relatively short bluff line.

Upper Eldridge Hollow
Просмотров 77День назад
This was my 'First Day' hike for 2025. Shortcut couldn't make this hike due to a nasty head cold. This is upper section of Eldridge Hollow. There is a lower section which also contains numerous waterfalls, but it is better to wait until there is a lot more water to see those falls. These falls in the upper section were running fairly well on this day. There are actually two drainages of this up...
The Waterfalls of Sally Ann Hollow
Просмотров 11714 дней назад
This past Sunday we ventured out with a few others to explore the waterfalls of Sally Ann Hollow. After several days of good rain the creeks and streams were full and flowing nicely. This hike starts out easy but as you make your way up the drainage the hillsides become steeper thus more difficult to climb up them. This was our last hike of 2024. It was a good year.
The North Chinquapin Bluff Line
Просмотров 11621 день назад
This weekend we joined up with some other folks and hiked the North Chinquapin Ridge just north of Clarksville near the town of Harmony. All the the ridges in and around the Horsehead lake area are steep and getting to the bluff lines and the waterfalls is tough. Within the first mile of this hike, we had a 500' elevation gain and then basically had to side hill walk the entire bluff line. Not ...
Accord Hollow

After about a two week layoff from hiking due to dental surgery and poor weather, Shortcut and I finally made it back into the woods. On this trip we headed into Accord Hollow just off the Ozark Highland Trail. We had Shortcut's sister and brother-in-law join us for this trip. This area has two very nice size falls in it and two other smaller falls.
Accord Hollow Falls

Here is a little short reel of the two large falls in Accord Hollow. The full length video will be out later this week. (I'm just coming off of dental surgery so I haven't hiked much in the last 2 weeks).
The Chancel Bluffs
Просмотров 172Месяц назад
We decided to make another trip out to the Chancel Bluffs near the Hurricane Creek Wilderness area. Our last visit there was back in late September. This time we went with a few other people and explored the entire bluff line, unlike on our last trip. This place offers a lot of neat rock formations and some huge shelters to enjoy.
Warm Fork Creek (Tea Kettle Falls)
Просмотров 95Месяц назад
On a whim I decided to go visit a creek area I hadn't been to in a long time. There is a semi-popular waterfall there called Tea Kettle Falls. I was a little surprised that the water level of the creek was so low. Needless to say, but the waterfall wasn't flowing. Regardless, I was able to take in the scenery and enjoy my time there.
Dismal Hollow 2024 (Part II)
Просмотров 146Месяц назад
Part II of our 2024 Dismal Hollow bushwhack. I really wanted to capture not only the beauty of this place but also the difficulty of the terrain. It's a tough hike to be sure.
Dismal Hollow 2024 (Part I)
Просмотров 151Месяц назад
This is part I of our hike through Dismal Hollow. This part shows the top of the bluff line heading towards the East Fork of the Little Buffalo River. There are lots of cool things to see- waterfalls, grottos, and of course some great views. My last trip there was in 2017 but the fog never cleared but the rock formations alone are worth seeing. This is NOT an easy hike. We averaged about one mi...
Stepp Creek
Просмотров 764Месяц назад
On this hike Shortcut and I decided to explore a nice little area near Nail, Arkansas called Stepp Creek. The weather was great and the water was flowing decently, but not great. It is a beautiful hollow and definitely worth the effort.
Mountain Fork Creek Short

I took my ProMax out yesterday for its first real world test hike running the latest firmware 7.2.5. Didn't fly it out over the waterfall edge since I wasn't sure the omni terrain would function properly, although it seemed as if it was. Just being overly cautious. Loving this drone so far but my pilot skills need improvement.
Murray Falls at Mountain Fork Creek
Просмотров 852 месяца назад
This hike is a nice route I like to do occasionally. There are two nice waterfalls at the top of Mountain Fork Creek and a side drainage that is east of there that allows you to connect to the OHT, and thus make a loop back to the trail head. It's about 2.5 miles but has some steep hillsides. 0:00 Drop In to Mountain Fork Creek 20:14 Drone Footage 24:35 Bluff Line to Waterfall 28:03 Bushwhack t...
Valley of the Blind
Просмотров 1032 месяца назад
Some friends and I got together to explore a bluff line commonly referred to as the 'Valley of the Blind.' This hike was about 3 miles and 500 ft. of elevation gain. Not too bad at all. I was a little under the weather but managed it just fine. The fall colors were popping pretty good but it has been so dry they weren't their usual brightness.
The Bluffs at Chancel
Просмотров 1233 месяца назад
This was our second hike of the day. We drove from Round Top Mountain to the Chancel area to explore part of the bluff line there over looking the Hurricane Creek Wilderness. It was very hot for this time of year but we really enjoyed this little trip.

I hiked to that area when I was there in October. Such a cool spot!
This was my first trip there. Very interesting area. A lot of logging work is currently going on there at the moment.
That's cool down there SpinnerBait. My path often misses what's below the bluff line. I have been on the top of that one one but not below. That's a nice bear's butt crack at 3:00. Looks like you needed a flashlight up in there. That's a spiff area dude. Your hikes are turning into Ozark Society hikes (SpinBob Society). ruclips.net/video/BMxqlfkrVaA/видео.htmlsi=AUem3zCsjh5WiEUs&t=794
Lol. Yeah, SpinSusie and I have been joining up with a few others lately on our trips. She was bugging me this morning about where we were going to go this weekend. I said it looks like snow Friday so we likely won't be going anywhere. That bluff line was very spiff indeed.
It was a fun hike. It's a very neat area in that crevice. Good song included in the video
I really enjoyed it too.
@@travelingwithspinoza what song did you use?

Chick on chick waterfall action. What a good lookin day! JimBob Eldridge was a local cheese maker.
There were about 8 of us on this trip. It's a cool hollow. Going back later after a good rain to check out the lower part.
@@travelingwithspinoza I counted six.
@@travelingwithspinoza the lower part is one of my favorite areas in the Ozarks
Did you have your drone with you? You must have
Yes, but only used it once at the last waterfall.
Do you leave the OHT to descend into the hollow?
Yes, at a couple of points.
@ I prefer when you’re hiking without the wife, as you are mostly silent and fixated on the scenery and trail tread and objects. In other words, your viewers feel like they’re hiking along with you. Great job.
@@luciejerry9529 Were you with him on this hike? No conversation that I could tell. Spinoza was quiet. 👍👍
I went back there first thing this morning. I wanted to be on my way home by 11:00 am but I decided to go past Danny's markers to see what else was up there in those steeper hills. I felt that there would be a bluff and a taller waterfall and there was. Going past his markers took me another 35 minutes so I was on my way home at 11:35 am
I climbed the rocks right by the waterfalls multiple times instead of going around. I was waiting to see if you staid by the water and took the steps up along the rocks at any point and see that you did at the 16:40 min mark
Yeah, I was only able to climb up that one waterfall. The others I had to backtrack and climb up and around the others.
Your voice sounds even more manly now. I saw you last night in the movie "The Postman". You were the bad guy. Lotsa logging in that area...not for me. Many drops on that creek...nice. "And she slips" at 9:20. Don't you know that women don't need our help? That was a near deadly hike Spin Nosa. Always explore, dream and discover.
I haven't seen that movie. Maybe I should. Yes, lots of drops. There was even a larger one further up at the head of the drainage that we couldn't get to. She slips often but overall does really well out there. Don't worry about her as much as I used to. Darn near a mountain goat.
Nice waterfalls!
Yep, lots of them in that area.
Still not as bad as the Hanging Rock Hollow hike or the Whitaker Creek backpacking trip?
It was a fun hike once again. Thanks for joining us. I'm in front but through your videos, I can see the hike from the back with you at the end in the back
Gnarly dude. Nice arch and hole action. Susie got "hung up big time" near the poison ivy wall of deth. That was quite an expeditionary team you had there. That's the bluff line above Hwy 103, right? Lovely pre Christmas action SpinBobby.
Yeah, there were several close calls for Susie on this hike. Lose rocks, soft dirt, and briars for two miles but she did well. I gifted her some new gear for her pack along with a new hoodie and pants so she enjoyed looking like a stylish hiker on this trip...lol. This was a group hike by design that a friend of mine put together. Yes, it's right off of hwy. 103: www.relive.cc/view/vE6JNrZe4g6
A-Cord Hollow? Did you have yer jaw removed dude? My god...not a bushwhack! Susie don't like bein called Shortcut. Every time I turn on my faucet...waterfall...no big whoop. You've been to the parking area twice...that's two times more than me. That was a fine day of whacking SpinMaster.
Well my dental work was pretty extensive but it's healing up nicely, my dentist told me that today. Yeah, I forget that you're not a fan of the word "bushwhack." Shortcut is the perfect trail name for that gal, and she prefers bluffs to waterfalls. Something just ain't right with her I tell ya...lol.
Dental work is the worst...glad yer doing well there. I like bushes and I like whacking...separately. Yeah, she just ain't right, except for the bluff preference.
Timbuh trash hollow, but nice.
Yep, there was a lot down there. Not so bad at the main falls though.
Pretty
Accord ing to you...😁
@@NoTrail 🤣
Is this a rerun? This is the Cubnugget Caves and Arch area near Chancel. Many Jibobwhe Indians lived here 20 to 30 years ago...could be longer. Crappin loggers. Tell that guy to get bended. You guys really wacked those bushes.
Sort of I guess. Cub Creek flows in from the west of where we were into Hurricane Creek, so Cubnugget Caves is a good name for those shelters. However, we didn't see any old carvings of the Jibowhes...lol. The logger in the truck was a little annoyed with us because he was surprised we where there. He gave us a little safety speech but we never even got close to where he was working. Sad to see them doing all that cutting.
I don't like tea, so.....yeah. I was out Tuesday as well. That spot, I am aware of, but have never been. Nice bedrock and gravel style action there. Too many d@m roads. You should wear Crocks with yer gators. Nice pre Thanksgiving outing SpinnerBait.
Don't care for tea myself. Coffee drinker. We're headed over to the Chancel Shelters tomorrow. Should be a good hike. Ordered another pair of those fjallraven stylist hiking tights yesterday...lol. Susie made me. 🤪
@@travelingwithspinoza Susie made you...right.
@@NoTrail Lol.
@@travelingwithspinoza Which new drone did you get?
Happy Thanksgiving dudes.
I've been to Tea Kettle Falls just once. It was running some
You have to catch it just right after a good rain.
It was running some what?
Nice hike...thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Wish there would have been more water...lol.
Enjoyed this video. I need to get out there to check it out sometime.
It's a nice area. There are more drainages west of where we were.
Toughest b***wack in Arkansas? I think not.
It is a beautiful place.
Indeed. We were lucky to see some waterfalls. Wasn't expecting that.
@@travelingwithspinoza Always expect the unexpected SpinBob with his sidekick Susie. I love that boulder at 11:00 when seen from a distance.
Great video
Glad you liked it.
Another good video. It was good hiking with you both again
Glad you decided to join us.
Yeah man.
It was a good one. I'm working on part II later today. Should be up by tomorrow.
That upper area of the creek has lots of action...I've never seen it...just the lower end. Go Susie go.
Great hike with a great group! Thanks for the videography.
It was fun. It was good to see you again. We need to get back out there again soon.
I had a great time joining the group and doing one of my first bushwhacking hikes. Great meeting all of you.
@@travelingwithspinoza Yes regarding getting back out there. Much to see off Hwy 123. I hiked 2 parts of Cave Creek bluffs this weekend and George Mtn bluffs. All off Hwy 123. I watched the sunset at Sam's Throne tonight and was looking across the way at this bluff line and all the parts to Big Creek bluffs
@@markvanbaale Good seeing you again
Why is the water gray?
Not sure either.
@travelingwithspinoza i am sorry to think it may be for coal mining activities.
🦝
hey, when ya'll did this hike did you approach entirely through public land, or did you get permission from the owners of the property off of 43 to cross over?
We were with the Ozark Society and they had permission beforehand.
Hope to get to backpack with you this season. I enjoy your vids
This is Hammerle
@@Seesu1 yes, me too. Looking forward to it. It's been a long, hot summer.
Outstanding atmosphere my friend, love this episode! Lovely mood 👌👌
Thanks! It was a fun hike to do. Once the rain cleared out the views were awesome.
Hopefully, you'' be interested to go camp there again and see some of the waterfalls up a couple of the 4 drainages that have a few big waterfalls each. I know I'll set it up for March again. That's an annual event for me since hiking to the falls from the bottom is much easier than starting all the way from the top. Then there is Horsehead Creek where I've backpacked into a couple of times and set up a basecamp where Dawson Branch is. Then there's Turner Hollow, Slogan Hollow and Emerald Hollow with many waterfalls
Definitely interested in going back.
Come on over to Chicago lakefront sep 1 bike the drive 26 Miles no cars allowed😅😂 traffic will be shut down from 5:30 in the morning to 10:30 in the morning Bank of America bike to drive
You would love Pfeiffer Loop at Maumelle, I promise!!!!
Is it like this area? We have road bikes.
Love the music!!!!!!
Pretty sure he added the music to cover up the sound of me complaining 😂 I was a little afraid I wouldn't be able to make it back.
Love your video. G-Pop would be so proud of your work.
What’s the tarp you are using? Thanks!! Also, I have a Dirigo that I’m refurbishing and have been kayak camping from!!
I have the Hyperlite square 8.5 x 8.5. I really like it. Pricey though.
What country is this in? If in the Untiede States, what State is it in? Neither the narration nor the written commentary provides that information which, so it would seem, is rather important...
It's in the U.S., Arkansas. 99.9% of my videos are shot in Arkansas unless otherwise stated.
Nice hike!
We had a great time! Sandi and I had never hiked together. When are you coming with us?
You are a brave soul to keep saying your woman was in a mood!!
The heat is my biggest enemy when hiking!!
I used to handle it better, but no so much anymore.
Looks like a nice place to hike!
It was really nice!
Is this the same Horsehead Creek that feeds Horsehead Lake just north of I-40? I was trying to figure out your parking and camp location but the miles don't add up. Love all your videos. Thanks for sharing!
This is the West Fork Horsehead Creek, not the main Horsehead Creek (which is east and north from where we were) that flows under the new bride into Horsehead lake. If you go down to the day use area there's a road that goes west for a little bit and intersects with another dirt road and the West Fork Creek itself. Park there and cross the creek and follow the ATV road out for 3 miles. That's where we camped.
Very good video
Good job on the video. It's a nice area. It would have been too much to go further down the drainage than what we did but there's more. You came out and got back onto the old road where I did the first time I hiked the shorter loop and where I said we would when we were up there at the beginning
Looks like a great hike.. wish I would have come along.
Yes R, should have have joined us. Been too long.
