A favourite short walk of mine today. I parked in the lay-by on the A57 just before the Ladybower bridge. Starting the walk I headed over the bridge and turned down the Derwent/Howden road and took the path that follows the shoreline of Ladybower reservoir. The path follows the waters edge before heading through the trees running parallel to the road. Just past the war memorial on the left of t...

A walk up the majestic Stac Pollaidh in the beautiful region of Coigach, North West Scotland: It is strange to think that once upon a time people used to be afraid of the wilderness. People used to fear the dark foreboding mountains. A sense of dread filled the minds at the mere thought of the danger and unknown nature of the wild. Things are much different now. When I am in the company of moun...

The pine woodland has been planted and is not a natural woodland, which is a shame. But it does look peaceful. Winter looks a great time for a hike.
Awesome, keep the videos coming, love the color.
Some times it's just so nice to get out, nobody else around, taking it all in, hopefully you'll get your knob sorted soon, 👍
Nice to see you having fun together
Glad you are loving it, enjoy it youth .
Lovely!
Love the Landy … please make sure you get decent security on it… mine got nicked last year and I’ve really missed it ..good to see someone else who loves old ladies as much as me ..keep on with it.. awesome 😊
Lovely truck..reminds me of mine..bit similar but without a roofrack... Anyway thats a cool roofrack, brownchurch roofrack? Never seen one with a 3/4 length on the hardtop only . usually they go full on the hardtop?
It’s christmas so a wonderful time to drive my series 3 from 1980. A couple of years ago I installed a little cap, don’t know how to call It in English but she (yes It is a ‘she’) is a two sitter now and I love every second of It. Enjoy the ride and a happy new year. Greetings from Holland.
You went past my house... if id known i would have waved, ha.
Merry Christmas! I've had 4 series IIIs and apart from one dog they were great fun, reliable, a fabulous 'feel good' wagon and have cheap parts. The only thing I realised is that the more owners they have had the more bog jobs have been done prior to your ownership! Buy with caution, but if you get a good looked after one, you're on to a winner. I always preferred the 2.2 petrol over the diesel and wallet sapping fuel consumption of the 2.6ltr. My lads have very fond memories of my series III's with canoes strapped to the roof and splashing on the beach at Southport where they learned to drive!!! Thank you and enjoy, I hope you sort your head lamps out xxx
lovely motor think series 3 was best looking
Wheels would look better in limestone rather than white.
Strip the black paint off the bumper and get some period plates with the raised numbers, not black and silver. Looks pretty original apart from the window locks you've added, they're for series 2 if we're getting pedantic. Nice clean s3 though, enjoy.
Lovely, and much quieter than my Series 3 diesel!
nice land rover👍 from someone who never really worked on cars to 20 months in to getting a series 3 back on the road its easy to work on but give plenty of time to work things out, i'm currently doing the eletrics somehow getting things to work 🤣
Just a word of advice, you tap the glass on the speedo several times. Not a good idea - the glass is fairly thin and can crack. OK on modern cars as it's plastic but best not to tap any instrument which has real glass.
Congratulations on doing the cable 👍 live and learn, check light fuses and connections, thank you for sharing, I'll be taking my series out over the weekend, 👍😁
Nice Landy Pee Jay 👍
You fail to mention whether in the 6 months you own the LR you have learned how to use the transfer-box i.e. the yellow and red levers CORRECTLY. Surprisingly few owners know.
Who are you, the landrover police?
@@adeh503 Jokes aside the matter needs policing for the damage that can be done by improper use to this splendid classics.
I already dropped a comment on another video of yours. This time I want to remark the lack of mudflaps, as your Series looks very nice just as she is. Greetings from South America
What a beautiful machine you have. I just love it. A truly enjoyable video
pj its the head light switche. It didn't work when i got it. If you won't the gearbox cover please get in touch from gaz..............😃
Its nice to see another Series Land Rover being looked after....
I enjoy watching you and your little dog. Glad your enjoying your land Rover, my cousin's hubby had one many years ago. I thought it was great fun. Hope you get your lights and windscreen washers sorted and whatever you fancy needs sorting. My cousin said it was too uncomfortable in the back to go out in. Yours is for your hobby so enjoy it.
@@annsivitter6130 thanks Ann, I will still be doing hiking/walking videos when I can 😊
Expensive way of traveling uncomfortably, and I have been in love for 50 years 😂❤
Like an old faithful dog in my opinion. Also totally classless which I love.
Absolutely agree!👌
I bought my 1966 S2A88”, about a year ago as a retirement project/ hobby. There are so many things on the to do list that I don’t believe I’ll ever be finished. But it makes me smile and attracts a small crowd when ever I take it out.
Nice vid pal. Keep em coming!
Why do I keep torturing myself watching Land Rover videos when I miss my Series 111 109 so much it hurts!!
there is somethig really special about Landy I have a 2008 and i am keeping it
its the switch on the wipers
@@1234567890garry they have been working on and off which made me think it’s a loose wire somewhere.
its smart to see my old landy😇🛻
🙈 So sorry, the wheels! they are 7.50 16 i think, but witch Model? I had almost the same as your landy, with Avon Rangemaster wheels. Was ok but in wet grass or mud Not so good. I have now a Serie 2a at the moment for a projekt... Far away to think about new wheels, but anyway 😅 Ist an ex Miliary and fits with Michelin xzl... very good for Hard condition but Not for the road. Now a Look around ans saw your very nice Video with your beautyful Landy but Not the Details from the wheels. Best wishes from Austria, fred
@@ManfredFischer-c7r i put a fresh set of Insa Turbo Ranger tyres on the truck when I got it 6 months or so ago (205/80/16) so far I am happy with them but i haven’t driven far really. Good luck with your series 2a project 👍
Hallo, very fine! May i ask, wich hoop do You use? Happy rovering!
@@manfredfischer662 hi, apologies but not quite sure what you mean by ‘hoop’
Welcome! Currently on my 3rd Series III out of 5 LRs owned. There's something about them - forever needing maintenance and repairs but it's like an addiction. Greatest vehicles ever made. They have soul.
Love your landy, I have a 1973 series 3 with the safari roof, all original, love it too bits, 👍💯
Driving a Landrover dressed in a Parka in the snow is about as Zen as it gets.

Nice little video. Wouldn't suffix S reg be 1977/8 rsther than 1981 though?
@@onetonlandrover it was first registered in 1981 but manufactured in 1978 hence the S reg (according to DVLA records)
@@PJ_6912 Any idea what it did for the first couple of years?
@ no idea, would be interesting to know but 🤷♂️
Owned a 2a for 9 years then 3 lightweight and 3 LWB then a luxury defender 90. But out of all of them the series 3 LWB was my favourite. This has bought back great memories 👍
did you by it off josh
👍
i got a landy 2a 109. i just did it up a new paint job.cart what for next year shows. ps itsa 1971
My Series 3 had quite a few electrical issues too. I ended up rewiring it. It was worth the effort. Enjoy your Landy, you'll learn as you go :-)
I rewired mine and added fuses in every line. Fuse boxes are cheap.....and a long time ago (30 years), I took the wiring harness from a scrap Japanese car.....I,m still using some of those wires today for little jobs here and there.
Landrover electrics aren’t bad. What’s bad is forty years of idiots repairing the loom with twisted wire and tape then expecting it to be a permanent repair. Sensible mods are the way to go. Eg Vaseline inside side lights indicators brake lights etc. wire from sides replaced or properly spliced ( solder and heat shrink) and long enough to run right through to engine bay and you have your bullet connection in the dry there. Steamwally’s lr videos on RUclips are very good and if you’re doing anything mechanical see if he’s done it for you to watch. If you know fcll now, then after a couple of years you should be able to tackle most jobs, as they say Been turning drivers into mechanics since 1948. You’re much better off doing as much as you can yourself for the simple reason, you’ll know your vehicle. You’ll develop a mechanical sympathy and be able to shout to a passenger. CAN YOU HEAR THAT NOISE? IT WASNT DOING THAT YESTERDAY!! But you’ll check it and find something loose or run out of oil or whatever. They’re an acquired taste but if you love em, you’ll enjoy nearly every minute of it. Have fun.
@@highdownmartin thanks for the advice 👍
About 15 years ago I had a Series 3 long wheel base {109} van back petrol. I'd had it for 8 years and I reluctantly sold it due to family pressure and I've missed it everyday since. It was the only motor I have ever loved. When it snowed I'd be out on the road double quick! I can no longer afford to buy a decent one as the prices have gone through the roof. Long live the Series Land Rover!!
@@geoff2212 I was lucky to get this one for the price I did and that was a struggle for me to be honest but I’ve wanted one for years and it was a now or never situation. God knows how long I’ll be able to keep him for and if the time comes where I have to let go at least I will have some fond memories to look back on, just like yourself 👍
Did you buy it privately or from a dealer? I’m in West Yorks and am looking for one too.
@@andrewwelch1659 Didn’t have much budget really and didn’t think I’d find one for the money I had. Went private in the end and dropped lucky, nice guy who had a good truck for decent price. Good luck with your search 👍
Looks like Derwent Water had my Defender up the gated Road last week!
Here in Canada we shudder at the lack of sound deadening/slash thermal insulation. Having driven my Series IIA at -25C. I speak from experience. Oddly, mine had a tropicial roof. In Canada? Ha! I had to add a second heater in the back. I enjoyed it when I was young but wouldn't put up with it for a long drive now. Its best feature was the PTO winch and the vehicle simpicity for DIY repair. It was old when I got it but surprisingly relaible for an old junker. Land Rovers where never popular here as they were too small on the inside, too uncomfortable, too gutless, too slow, too hard to get parts for, the ride was harsh and the brakes so-so, plus it was too foreign. The space for the driver's feet on the left hand drive model was bad joke. The seat had no fore and aft adjustment and the wipers were hilarious. No other utility or farm vehciles here ever had any thing less than a six cylinder, while Land Rovers had a four. Of course I had to buy one. It came with a small calibre bulltet hole in the passenger door, a cracked road wheel and a defective ignition coil. I did drive it to Belize and back in '81 ( seven thousand miles ) without any problem except a set of points going bad in Mexica. I replaced them with a spare set by the side the road. The Series models were basically high-speed tractors and not suitable for the North American market and vast distances. People think nothing of driving 1,200 kms to go visit somene two provinces over, or more. So, I had my fun but after while it had to go.
Back around 1984 to 86 I had a Series IIA here in Ontario as a second vehicle and my toy. Have a picture of our black Labrador in the driver's seat and our year old son beside him.
Aye very nice! Good to see the freewheeling hubs, next to useless as a fuel saving measure but excellent to stand on to access the engine 😅
Make a big difference when you’re on full lock, hubs out all good .hubs in, can feel the ujs protesting and cogging. Quieter as well.
Looks great, quieter running than mine....
Probably due to the 3” of snow on the roof of this one. A good sound dampener.
