Mercedes w123 300TD turbo sound--No Exhaust--No Intake
Просмотров 16 тыс.10 лет назад
I was in the process of fabricating a new turbo down pipe and decided to go for a quick ride with it all off. Turbo is open on both ends. No intake no exhaust pipe = no drone/resonance. I really want to minimize drone because it overpowers the turbo sound. Any ideas on how to keep this sound without having the exhaust blast the fire wall?
1000watt JVC TH-M505 5.1 Home Theater(Louie Bag-Bloodraw)

This is a video showing abilitys of our JVC TH-M505 Digital Home Theater System playing my favorite song Louie Bag by Bloodraw. I have found that this system is perfect for playing any type of music, including my bass heavy songs; and I'm not easily impressed when it comes to bass. The system does not give window shaking; thunder sounding bass but it definitely will send an obvious rumble throu...

    Far be it from me, but pretty sure that sound coming off throttle is just the wastegate dumping built up pressure hot side

    Why does it have a 80 mph gauge cluster?

      @@master7chief yes my dad has quite a few so I knew that, but I was always under the impression that the N/A 300s had a 80mph cluster and the turbo 300s had a 120mph cluster?

    I cut my exhaust pipe in half then turned it to go through the hood of the car, also I originally put my boost gauge the same place as yours but then I moved it next to the dash for a better look.

    Do you lose HP straight pipe bro? I have a CD turbo and want to straight pipe but not sure if it will lose power or damage the engine

    • @master7chief
      @master7chief 7 лет назад

      Carlos Ayala Reducing exhaust back pressure after the turbo reduces the necessary drive pressure for a given boost pressure. The stock exhaust is a good design with flow through mufflers so while you won't do damage don't expect a big power increase.

      @dieselburner4461 7 лет назад

      master7chief thanks for the info bro. The part where it releases the pressure , does it sound that way because it has no intake? I'm thinking of just connecting a GM 545 fram filter on the turbo with custom piping. And running another hose from the valve cover through a water air separator back into the return line

    • @master7chief
      @master7chief 7 лет назад

      Carlos Ayala That chirping sound comes from the exhaust side, I'm not exactly sure what causes that sound. Many have successfully used your setup but it won't sound like this since I had no exhaust pipe to cause resonance after the turbine.

      @dieselburner4461 7 лет назад

      master7chief oh ok I'm going to try and straight pipe it to test how it sounds

    • @g__wizz
      @g__wizz 6 лет назад

      wow you literally couldnt be more wrong. you want NO back pressure after the turbo the bigger the exhaust the better with in reason. that woosh chirp noise is surge and its bad.

    ok it's obviously not getting enough fuel to idle when cold. The older diesels actually had an adjuster knob to set the idle higher when cold, which is what you are doing with your foot. Anyway it is something to do with the injection pump. doesn't sound like an air leak, because it idles smoothly.

    • @master7chief
      @master7chief 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the comment. After very carefully inspecting everything fuel related I decided to reset the rack damper bolt on the injection pump while I was at it. I set it only 1/8 a turn past what was needed to smooth the idle when hot, initially it was in a few turns more than necessary. That seems to have resolved the issue 100%. Hopefully this is helpful for someone.

    This one recently suffered the same fate. For over a year the lose S cord socket caused the sub to turn off immediately after being switched on. Adjusting the cord and a second attempt to power up solved the problem each time. But eventually it didn't and JVC says they no longer sell the amplifier rendering the entire system useless.

      Hi you folks out there with that Lousy JVC 505 subwoofer I'm going to tell you what I found out with mine. I found mine by the road some one thru out on the road as for garbage. Not to mention I had to get a remote, and the s cable cause these items didn't come with it in the garbage. Now after opening and closing this thing about five times "the electronic part" doing all kind of unknown damage to it. As it was lighter I turned it upside down and heard something rattling inside. What is that I ask. I pulled out the four cover screws and pulled off the plastic screen. You pull it by putting a flat item under the large screw driver you have and go around the edge with it and it comes off. Unscrew the speaker and lo and behold the speaker was NEVER HOoKED UP. Guess what was rattling in the box. One McDonalds coffee cup cap. One sea shell, a marking pen, two marbles a piece of wadded up paper. All this was done at the factory cause everything is glued up. Now I'm not saying that is wrong with yours but it's possible. Now if you have taken this thing apart several times you've probably done damage like unfortunately grounding out the speaker wire. so be careful. Try it you might get lucky. Didn't know they had a Mac's in Japan back then.

    @master7chief Thats really not true man. Peak power is what the system is capable in JVC's test labs under strict conditions. Rms is what they know it can do in your house, and continuously. I agree though its all about what your happy with.

  • @master7chief
    @master7chief 14 лет назад

    @murder00redrum Well its not all about "who has the best system" Its being happy with what you have for the time being and, if you want, show others what your system can do. And in many cases, Peak power is just as important as Continuous power. An example would be concerts where you want to "Feel" the music. The speakers peak power is what will give you the chest pounding music, RMS just maintains the lower intensity sounds.

  • @murder00redrum
    @murder00redrum 14 лет назад

    @master7chief Possibly, but it just bugs me with some peoples vids how they try and flaunt. oh wow 1000w system! i mean its probably good, but the rms wattage of my Denon receiver is 805. 115w rms from 20hz to 20khz 0.008 distortion. And i paid 1299Cad for it.

  • @master7chief
    @master7chief 14 лет назад

    @murder00redrum It is actually very loud for the size of the speakers, & believe me I know loud. At this volume it will definitely have your ears ringing. So I'm pretty sure it it a true 140 RMS power. Total 1000w? maybe not RMS, probably the peak power. However, does it have a true: 155w RMS sub, yes and 140w RMS speakers, yes. Its a lot better a system than the video shows. (the camera automatically changes the recorded volume which is why as I turn it up it doesn't seem to get louder)

  • @murder00redrum
    @murder00redrum 14 лет назад

    @bsod4u2 More like PMPO *possible momentary power output* haha

  • @master7chief
    @master7chief 14 лет назад

    Yeah, I think your right. The speakers say "Power handling capacity: 140w" It doesn't say if thats peak power or RMS (continuous power). The powered subwoofer says "AC 120 ~ 60Hz 155w". Do the math and that sums to 855 watts. Thats probably RMS power and 1000w is the systems peak. Either was the system video doesn't do the system justice. Its not the best system ever but it sounds great and will have your ears ringing. I dare to say its definitely one of the better systems in stores.
