I'm old enough to remember Stockton playing. And I'll be completely honest here. He is a fundamentally sound player and did play for quite some time. But at the time I never considered him great. Karl Malone however is a different story. As much as I didn't like Karl Malone. He is responsible for a lot of Stockton's numbers

PG is actually the least important position in NBA. If your team can't handle the ball, you are not going to win a title with or without a good PG. Small forward is rather more important. It makes the team way more versatile in the playoffs. They can play any strategy when a small forward is rock solid. On top of that, the team can sign whoever they want because all style works.

@@Hoops4Breakfast LUL I didn't put names bc this is exactly what's going to happen. Every position have mega super stars. Putting names justifies nothing. Small forward is the gate to everything behind the scenes. They don't have a strong identity like other positions, but they always become the player the team needed, not what they are assigned. Small forward is not a position where you can say, "I don't have this. I'll let the GM figure out a way to build around me so we can avoid my shortcomings."
