This scene is a false memory from Cloud. It was confirmed in the Remake Ultimania that it was Tifa that ignored Cloud as a kid. Not the other way around.

Also, Heroine my arse lol she doesn’t even fight Sephiroth with Cloud in the final battle of Rebirth. Instead she is fighting Sephiroth Reborn with the supporting cast! It's not that Cloud was incredibly handsome it's just that there weren't as many eligible young men available. A bit more diversity would have been nice to see rather than everyone going after Cloud since he's all there is. Maybe would be good to see Cloud as even average looking.

so... if Tifa "isn't real" in the current timeline, and Aerith "dies" (offscreen), then Tifa is Aerith / they are one now? (how Tifa acted in the flashback is exactly how Aerith did all along) similar to how Zack acts, but Cloud does it?
Why would you take Sephiroth at his word? He's lying because he knows Tifa can restore Cloud's true memories and that's inconvenient for him since he wants Cloud to join him and be his puppet.
