In this episode we conclude our almost 11 week Baltic circumnavigation with the Willem Johannes. The final miles across the North Sea, Wadden-sea and lake IJssel are sailed as dog Rif wonders if we're having fun yet :-).
Making this many miles with him is sometimes still a challenge, but he does well.

Welcome to our neighbourhood! ⛵️🇳🇴 I noticed your creative line for the self tacking jib. I have been thinking of something like this so I dont need the big rail on the boat. Can you explain how it works? Or perhaps you have a video showing it? Best regards from Sandefjord, Norway. ⛵️
Hi, this is an easy solution to prevent us to install a expensive rail, like you said. We have the attachementspoints on deck to attach a block and a harp-fitting with in between a Dynema line. The end of the dynema line runs trough to a winch, to put the line on ‘tension’. Attached to that dynema line is a sliding ring and a block for the sheet to the front sail. This makes our front sail self tacking without a rail. I will try to make a video of it, because my explanation might raise some questions ;-)

Hoi ja, klopt. We wilden het proffesioneel laten doen, maar daar hing een bedragje met meerdere nullen aan vast. Dus met hulp van Jan van de Gandalf een constructie bedacht met dynema-lijn. Niet optimaal, maar bijna het zelfde resultaat voor een paar euro ;-)

Hi Clive, hahaha...we are sorts of a ship right? Yes, the entire ship was insulated entirely. Alle the ports and windows included. We have extra plastic see through plates we can put on the inside of the deck windows for extra insulation. We are 50 tons pure steel indeed 🙂

Nice traditional stilled heavy boat... Is she Dutch, steel? I will have to search back through your posts for more views. A quarry...is the name for for a Stone mining site... though that is its true function 😊 Beautiful Scandinavian coastlines they grow spectacular the further North you head into Norway.

Hello and thank you for your kind response. Indeed He (the manly name) is a she and our Bronsveen Cutter is a Dutch built Steel ship with a lifting keel. Our draft is 1.35 (flatbottom which is awesome for shallow waters in Holland and the UK) with a maximum draft of 2.79 m.
