Looking For Pond Maintenance Or Water Feature Repair?
❤
I’m loving the music and education
Outstanding!!!
Native to Australia, West Papua & Papua New Guinea. Additionally, all specimens in the USA are wild harvested. There’s no captive bred animals in the USA.
Thanks for the comment! Fortunately wild harvesting isn't legal in many of these places, though poaching does still happen tragically. There are listings of captive bred legal fly river turtles with papers, but it is possible there is shady business going on. I feel captive bred options would have to be more abundant before a person should feel comfortable pursuing one as a pet.
❤❤❤❤
Ironically, that looks like the evil turtle from the Amazing World of Gumball
Ohhh it does look that that 😂 I’m not positive but I think that may be a soft shell turtle, those are a lot more fierce and carnivorous.
Very informative thank you
Awesome to know the app i was using to try identifying mine just said it was duck weed I didn't think that was correct
@@patrickprudhume8837 ohh very interesting! Duckweed is a lot smaller than frogbit, duckweed is smaller than a pinky fingernail normally while frogbit is a lot bigger than that, as big as a baseball or bigger.
This is gorgeous!!
This song is used in Cat Goes Fishing!
That’s super cool I didn’t know that 🙌 we just found it going through Kevin Macleods stuff
I would only build one if it could be used by wildlife. Seems awfully wasteful otherwise. I guess some people prefer aesthetics...
@@mrjonesyyy I respect the priority 🙌 why not include the wildlife with something that we also find beautiful? Local animals often make them their home 🙌
I would love to make something like this in my garden but it will give mosquitos a breeding place and they bite me enough already :(
It's actually pretty convenient because mosquitos can't grow in flowing water 🙌 and if you were to have a large enough pool of water that moved slowly enough you could always put mosquito fish (livebearers similar to guppies) or mosquito fern (the worlds smallest species of fern) in the pond and they will totally control mosquitos I think.
@@blackkoiwaterfeatures Are you sure about the moving water part? Wouldnt it always have some stagnant water somewhere at the corners?
@@ReneGamper Yep! The only way i've seen mosquitos grow in a water feature is if the pump is off or isn't working
So many lakes in Michigan but I don’t live on one, I need a pond or fountain in the garden! I love this! ❤
They really do add a lot to the space! Thanks so much ❤
Get a kiddy pool dig it into the ground and get a water pump and some rocks. Bam easy DIY pond and costs like $60 and would take a day. Its a start right, maybe replace it with a better one when you can afford it etc
How?
Most water features need water treatments or some regular maintenance, either in the form of plant removal or water treatments. In this system, you need very little plant management because the plants are slow growing and there aren't fish adding nutrients to the system, and algae doesn't normally grow any more then is seen in this video because the plants compete with the algae and there aren't many nutrients in the system feeding the algae to begin with. Of course if it is in an area where branches or leaves will fall into it those ought be removed, but thats for anything where leaves and sticks fall into it really.
Obviously, you need constant electricity for pump under water reservoir?
@@syon600 yes that’s right 🙌 some people pull water from nearby streams or ponds and then cycle the water back but this has certain complications and legal restrictions
@@blackkoiwaterfeatures it's just that it's being portrayed to be 'maintenance' free when it's constant electricity bill
@@syon600 The whole point was that it doesn't cost a lot of time to maintain specifically. No water features are not cheap in any capacity unfortunately.
You don’t need fish to stay captivated if you have the right plants to keep your interest. Lately, I’ve been really enjoying some native aquatic plants: broadleaf arrowhead, American water plantain, fragrant water lily, floating primrose-willow, and watercress. Many of them are edible and make excellent additions to a bog filter or even a terracotta pot filled with residual clay.
@@Westbound100 so true the plants are a ton of fun 🙌
I would love to have one. Can you tell me how that works? Do you build these & and I would love to do it so animals can drink water & more so since I'm not too far from the mountains & animals are thirsty😢
@@norasanchez2348 yes we build these 🙌 essentially they are just rocks liner and a pump that recirculates the water. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to make a guide but aquascape has some I think and other people do as well. Definitely do research first though because fixing issues down the road can be almost impossible depending on what it is 🙌
Kits available on Amazon! Loads of options.
I would love one and have the perfect spot on a little hill and my animals would LOVE to drink living water
@@itscommonsense3128 ohh that sounds awesome! Animals often do love these
Fuck that I'm putting brook trout in
@@Cubano1986 😂 well the reason you don’t want to put fish in this type of water feature specifically is because if the pump goes out all the water can drain below the false bottom of the water feature and the fish can dry up 😬 I’m sure one could be designed for brook trout though 🙌
@@blackkoiwaterfeatures so what you're saying is automated fish jerky
Don't get fooled. All of them will grow algae and require maintenance. All my algae grows under the waterfall and spreads. There is no such thing as maintenance free. I have been taking care of mine for 20 years.
That’s true! This water feature grows the amount of algae you can see in the water feature. This water feature, and other like it, happen to only require about an hour or less of maintenance a year as long as it isn’t in an area where a lot of stuff will fall into it 🙌
Wonderful! Wonderful! I'd like to fix one of these up for my daughter but I will have to fence it in so the goats don't eat the plants. Thank you. Now if I can just find a vendor
@@kensebring3683 Aquascape has a vendor located for their affiliates on their website 🙌
Many kits available on Amazon! They're super easy.
How much is that?
@@dicas1988 for us a water feature like this would be between $6,000 and $18,000. It depends on what materials, how much rock, and how many days it takes our crew 🙌
How did you tie the liner into the massive rock in the chlorinated pool rebuild?
Basically, by cleaning the surface, using flat brackets, screws, and a ton of silicone.
Thak you
I love it!
Thank you! 🙌
🤩
Well they're eatable
Tucker❤❤
As a cacti gardener, the pain is worth the beauty!
