Positive or negative do have any information on the Disciple's Study Bible (CSB issue)? Be as complete as you can. I'm just very much inquiring about this. Many Thanks and God bless you all.
The best study Bible is the one you actually read and study. Start with a regular Bible, read commentaries, study timelines, maps, etc. Write your own notes and cross-references as you go. Otherwise you are relying on content somebody else thinks you should know. As in the David Jeremiah SB you mentioned. I would say, if there is one SB I could ever recommend, is the Dickson Analytical SB. No longer in print, but has primarily objective helps. That is, time lines, charts, outlines etc. No running commentary, which I find is often too subjective
I'm a Lutheran (LCMS) so my primary study Bible is the Lutheran Study Bible ESV from Concordia Publishing House. It's a great resource from my theological tradition. I do also use a NLT Life Application Study Bible and I must say I like it a lot. The NLT is nice to read and I find it along with the notes can be very illuminating for my understanding! Very interested in that CSB Holy Land Illustrated Study Bible as well! The images look nice and it looks like a good resource.
NIV? Are you for real? Ahhh c'mon
1 Corinthisns 13:9-12 We know in part and we prophesy in part... We do not know in part today, nor do we prophesy in part today. We have the whole of scripture today and indeed have had for about 1900 years. When the apostles died out, there was no new prophesy. Only through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, could these abilities be acquired. We have the word and it is sufficient.
Niv you are nieve
Good. I bought a bible like this.
Excellent Video Sir!!! Thank You For Your Time and Help Into What Bibles are Out Here and What They Consist Of... I and Leaning Toward The Life App Bible and The ESV Study Bible - U Have Helped Me Alot - You Be and Stay Blessed and Safe!!!😊
🎉I feel your sincerity and love, for the Word of GOD!🙏😁
Great review! What is your take on the NET Bible Full notes edition?
I bought a Quest Study Bible and ended up taking it back to the store. I did not like that version at all. There wasn’t enough study materials. I didn’t like the question format. I found the outside columns too wide and when flipping through to find a certain book, it was too hard to see the titles along the top of each page.
I am 84 years old and am presently wording my way through the CSB Disciple Study Bible. It is super fantastic.
Thanks so much for this video I'm gonna get the ESV study Bible NIV Study Bible and the NIV Biblical Theological Study Bible too because I'm just weird and i want to cross reference those 3 thanks again for your perspective 🙏🏿✝️♥️
I confirmed with the sellers it is not Smyth sewn but they could not tell me how the binding is made.
I’m getting the hard cover one
A sheet of black paper the same thickness as printer paper will help with ghosting. I have black paper in all my Bibles cos I find the ghosting very annoying.
I love mine!
Thank you!
No such thing as a good study bible. Mens opinions should not be printed alongside God’s word. Many study bibles like Schofield reference bible promote false doctrine. Only lazy Christians need these
The very best study is Jimmy Swaggart expository over 6 million sold they have a Bible -Thon sale the first of every month soled 42 thousand Feb Son Life Broadcasting Television the Longest Christian Ministry in the history of Television if you can not find a Church Become a Media Church member to me it's the best Church in the World Preaching the Message of the Cross 7days a week 24 hours a day Great Christian music if you watch for one week you will not change the station Glory be To God And the Lanb Forever
No love for KJV and NKJV?
It hurt that all of my favorite N.T. scholars are no longer alive. Is there a way I could e-mail someone who can tell me what I am looking for? ( I know there is a need to be careful about posting contact info on-line.)
What is the difference between the NIV, Biblical Theology Study Bible and the Reforamtion Study Bible?
If it aint King James, you can torch them.
Thank you!
Good review. Bought my NIRV bible and I'm forward to reading it 📖
I have the MacArthur Study Bible in the NKJV.. I think the cross references and textual footnotes are in a - 2 point font. But then, do you really need cross references or textual footnotes in a study Bible? Isn't that what the study notes are for? They just seem redundant to me.
For a deeper study get the Matthew Henry study Bible.
Did you lose the hair 😮
What happen to the Dake's study Bible?
As for the size and weight of the original, it was about the same size the ESV Study bible of today (I still have one). It does seem to have a glued binding so that’s an issue with a Bible of this size. I like the old format for the notes better but the quality of the text (not the notes) is slightly better in the newer edition and the inside column references is an improvement.
I was surprised not to see the Nelson’s NKJV Study Bible. It’s not only a great one but one of the best selling.
The Faithlife is no longer in print but is available in electronically (or used).
It seems so many publications today are hardcore Calvinist. This is and always has been a minority viewpoint in Christianity, but they seem to really be pushing in the last couple decades.
I watched this hoping to find any good study bibles I may have missed. Turns out I have every one of these (and probably 30+ more) so instead I learned maybe I have a study Bible collecting problem.
One of the best study bibles you'll ever use is the Dake's Annotated Reference Bible. An absolutely incredible resource!
Good video. I hope you will talk more about small church ministry and pastoring.
As a Jewish evangelical (and Reformed?) Christian, I think many including me would be immensely interested in your thoughts on the current situation in Israel! If you have the time to make a video, that'd be much appreciated. May the Lord continue to bless you and make his face shine upon you! :)
John Frame is my absolute favorite theologian today! I try to read almost everything he has written, and though I've read a lot of his stuff, I still have a lot more left to read because he's written so much! But I rarely fail to learn from him as well as be edified by him. And it utterly humbles me to consider that Frame has regularly prayed for me and my family since I'm a complete nobody to him; yet Frame is humble enough to pray for a nobody like me and mine. If he prays for the likes of a nobody like me, I wonder how far and how wide his personal prayer "ministry" reaches, for, if he prays for a layperson like me who should be far off his radar, he likely prays for many pastors, scholars, Sunday school teachers, missionaries, and so on!
My personal favorites are: 1. ESV Study Bible. As you have noted, I think the ESV Study Bible truly is the best seminary education a person can receive in a single volume (perhaps the only major thing missing is learning the biblical languages). I also love JI Packer who served as the main theological editor for this Bible, and his knowledge and wisdom shine through the ESV Study Bible. In fact, Packer has said: "For me, it [working on the ESV Study Bible] has been the most satisfying work I think that I’ve ever done as a Christian writer, minister, preacher, or teacher. All the aspects of my calling have one way or another been fulfilled in my work on the ESV. Looking back on it, I often say in public that I think that of all the enterprises that I’ve had in hand during the sixty-odd years of my public ministry, the work I’ve done of the English Standard Version has been the most significant and the most gratifying." 2. NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible. D.A. Carson is awesome as well! He's one of my very favorite scholars too. And I enjoy learning how the entire Bible fits together in its main narrative of redemptive history as well as its many other significant narratives (e.g. the temple, the atonement). Biblical theology seems to be in its golden age today with excellent and edifying to read scholars like Don Carson, Tom Schreiner, Greg Beale, Stephen Dempster, Jim Hamilton, Mitchell Chase, Michael Morales, Desi Alexander, and so many others, standing on the shoulders of giants of past generations like Geerhardus Vos, Edmund Clowney, Alec Motyer. This Bible is a great introduction to biblical theology.
Great list! Here are a few more to add at least as honorable mentions: * NIV Archaeological Study Bible. It has solid information on culture, history, and of course archaeology. * CSB Apologetics Study Bible. Good material in defense of the faith. * ESV Systematic Theology Study Bible. Although the ESV Study Bible is also at heart a systematic theology study Bible, the ESV Systematic Theology Study Bible is more tightly focused on systematic theology (though if I could only pick one study Bible it'd have to be the ESV Study Bible which is easily one of my top 3 favorite study Bibles of all time).
Thank you so much for this video. I learned what to look for in better study Bibles. Also thanks for reminding us all just how good the NIV is.
That's a huge church compared to where I live lol 😂
Same
What would you rate the Life Essentials Interactive Study Bible and Why? Thanks.
I don’t have that one yet, but I’ve heard great things about it!
Greetings from Southern California! Can you share the isbn # of the smyth sewn version please. Thanks!
ISBN-10 0310435307 ISBN-13 978-0310435303
The NIV is a garbage Translation inspired by Satan! KJVOnly!
Thank you! I'm a new Christian about to get my first study bible, and this was so helpful!
For new Christians I highly recommend the NLT Life Application Bible. You get an understandable translation coupled with notes that help you apply the text directly to your life. There is a reason it’s the top selling study Bible in America.
The Quest Study Bible would also be a high recommendation for new Christians.
I have this Bible and I love it!!! I’m just getting back into studying again I need to start putting the lord first it will help me heal
Please be careful with the ESV Bible,it says that Elhanan slew Goliath not David!😊
if its got the ignorant doctrine of eternal hell in it, its satanic garbage
