Thank you for taking the time and doing this video. Extremely helpful. I am learning every day with these newer type scanners. It’s been 25 years and the learning curve and technology is leaps and bounds. What it was in the late 90s I really want to delve in and learn about the scanner abilities, but also wanted to get it up and running so I can use it. Thanks a lot.

Free scan ruins all the DMR codes by making them NAC codes and changing the colour codes all to FFF. This bug has been present for years. That’s why I’m reluctant to use it.

KDYVGY - thank you, thank you, thank you. You boiled down thousands of forum pages and hours of other videos into one simple procedure. I ordered my BCD325P2 on Amazon. Fumbled around with the forums and other videos that same day. Was overwhelmed and nearly cancelled the order. But.... I found your video that night. Followed your advice with Free Scan and Radio Reference the next day. Got the local channels downloaded from Radio Reference to Free Scan. The scanner arrived at 4pm via USPS. I uploaded the channels from Free Scan to the BCD325P2 per your suggestion. By 4:15 pm, I was scanning and heard ambulance, fire, sheriff and helicopter within the first 20 minutes. No fuss, no muss. Thank you so much. I have recommended your video to other family members who may be considering a digital scanner soon.

Any vids showing how to set the groups or bank numbers? Like when you want what your programming into a specific scab bank. Thanks

How does it self inflate? Do you leave the valves turned halfway?

Can I listen to digital p25 phase 1 and phase 2 frequencies with this scanner.

Yeeyup that will work... mostly. Other thing I would add is to set it for ID SCAN instead. As you saw it will pickup everything on the towers and it likely will be mostly out of county items. You can set that by pressing FUNC key and SCAN buttons. In freescan set it as seen at the 7:40 mark in this video.

I bought this scanner and received it Saturday August 5th and had my neighbor program mine , he’s a radio operator from the Vietnam war. Now he teaches classes on how to operate radios ( he’s a ham radio operator) anyway my best friend we are both disabled veterans, my neighbor is also. ( we are here at Ft. Bragg) - I mean Ft Liberty - anywho Jason is going to buy this scanner this weekend and lives in Ohio near Kent State University. I know he will find this video useful ,I just sent him this video, thank you good Sir.

I am an experienced camper, but I was baffled on how to inflate/deflate. This how-to video is a life saver. No instructions came with the product.

Thank You for the information. I didn’t know the ICOM ID-5100 did Cross Band Repeat. Now I can sit in my living room and cross band from my UHF to my VHF. Especially since I don’t live within handy talky range of most VHF repeaters. Thank You again.

David, good explanation of Cross banding on 5100 however I would suggest not utilizing a frequency that is only 5kc from the National Calling frequency of 146.520.I'd suggest looking into 145.000 region. Same thing for crossband DSTAR

Would this be good for the RasberryPi 2?

I am having a problem getting the Pi to recognize DVAP I and DVAP E. It tries to route them to the gateway. I know the commands are setup correctly in the radio because they work fine when I have the DVAP hooked up to my windows computer. Do you have any recommendations for me?

I have been trying to install this for a couple hours. Problem I am running into is the ethernet and USB ports do not work from this image. I tried the image twice and both times the ports don't work. I install a fresh copy of Wheezy and they work fine. Did you have this problem with the ethernet and USB ports not working when you booted up this image? I am using a Pi B+ with 512MB ram.
