CCM Trigger 7 Pro vs Trigger 8 Pro! Stick Comparison
I do not own the music:
Isaiah Rashad- Recess
Being able to comparing the two sticks against each other was an interesting experience.
This new dampened feel in a low kick stick, at least for Ribcor, may just be what some of you want. If so, I hope you really like the stick! If not, try and grab a T7P or even T6P. They’re selling out pretty quick.
Before I understood why certain blades are put on a certain kick point shafts, I posed the question “why can’t low kick sticks have a dampened core/insert?”
At the time, I enjoyed low kick sticks (QRE10) but I wanted a dampened core because it just felt better when I received hard passes.
But we do more than just receive and pass with sticks. Shoot...

Hyp2rlite VS FT6 Pro Skate Review

Hi everyone!! I was fortunate enough to try both of these skates and I didn’t see a review comparing the two, so I made my own! The FT6 Pro really focuses on comfort as a priority this year, where as the Hyp2rlite continues to focus on being lightweight and agile. It was suggested to me that I do commentary… let me know if you like it or not. Thanks for your time! Comments are open, I encourage...

    The skates are super comfortable, but I have to admit, I'm disappointed with the exterior build quality. Even blocking just one shot, the paint job immediately starts to wear off. I've only had the Hyperlites 2 for four months, but I have a feeling that if I give it a full year, the Bauer logo will be completely gone.

I skate fly-ti now in my ultrasonics and felt like it never dulls (I’m 235lbs+, 1/2” Fire) so it makes me really want to try Black Step steel! Lime many others my kids are very disappointed with the tongues on the original Hyperlite skates, you can see they have fixed the issue on the new model. The edges of the tongues are too thin and start folding over and cresting ridges, so the tongue doesn't fit flat against the skaters foot. Causes pain and discomfort... Google the issue it's common. I'm in the process of talking to Bauer about how to fix it, $1200 skates 6 months old... Bauer doesn't sell replacement tongues like other manufacturers but apparently at Pure Hockey you can special order them for $100...

    I get crazy shin angle / knee bend in the Ft680s. the Jetspeeds tongue is very generous with its forward pitch. If you wear your shinguards under your tongue. Jetspeed is a must. I love how far back the tendon guard is. Not intrusive at all. Some warm ups I like to do require full mobility, So it's nice to have a skate that doesn't constrict you at all.

    how would you compare the trigger 8 pro to the sync in terms of the blade feel

    • @Chrissy1011
      @Chrissy1011 11 месяцев назад

      Hi! Great question. So first it depends on how you like to feel the puck on your blade. The blade on the sync feels slightly harder than on the T8P. The sync has the connect tech to “dampen any vibrations” but it’s still very responsive. The T8P has the “dual feel” dampening foam in the “heel” but you still feel it throughout the blade not just in the heel. Both are responsive but I prefer the blade on the sync just a bit more. I do find myself using the T8P over the sync because the release is quicker and while I don’t mind the 5 sided shaft.. I prefer the more rounded corners of the trigger and I’m in favor of using a quick release stick for the time being. Hope this helps 😊

      @@rockybrowder5302 Funny because I went from custom VH before Van Horn sold to True. I felt the custom Bauer Ultrasonic fit great. The foot wrap on the True is definitely more then you get with Bauer. The CCM is a 1 piece boot so its more similar to the VH/True. Pro tip, when you bake your new skate, custom or stock doesn't matter, take an Ace bandage or something like it and quickly after you tie the skate wrap the bandage super super tight everywhere around the boot. It will insure a better wrap around your foot. :)

    We did some testing of the Power Fly, Tuuk Edge and XS holders. The XS holder is the stiffest with the most neutral feel (Most wanted a forward pitch added to their profile). The Tuuk Edge was the most flexible and the Power Fly is a mixture of stiff up from and soft in the back, which some folks aren't crazy about. The Tuuk Edge holder still reigns supreme in the opinion of the people who acted as my testing subjects. Of course it's all subjective.

    • @Chrissy1011
      @Chrissy1011 11 месяцев назад

      Great analysis! Yes. I noticed the neutral pitch of FT6P with the XS holder compared to the Tuuk/PowerFly. I noticed the stiffer post in the PowerFly holder on my first skate and I loved it. I’d switch my tuuk holders but it’s not worth the hassle. I have tons of LS steel and there is a way to make that steel fit the PF holder but ofc the work is going to have to be put in and it’ll void the warranty lol. But also, I’m in favor of the XS holder because of the STEP steel that comes with it and the quality. It’s just unmatched. Ever since Bauer released their black steel (LS5 at least) they mentioned not going so deep on hollow since the edge is so great. I never felt that was true 😂 at least not until I tried STEP. I’ve been slowing trying to move to a 1/2 hollow. I’m most comfortable at 7/16. When I skated that hollow in STEP, I felt like I could have gone to 1/2.. amazing bite. Now that I’m back in hyperlites (og), I skated 7/16.. and I was slipping. So I resharpened it to 3/8.. I’m still slipping 😂 so I’ll be going 5/16. This could be happening bc it’s the carbonlite steel. If I try the regular pulse with some extra weight it might feel “normal.” Any thoughts?

      @@Chrissy1011 Hi Chrissy! All of your feedback is valid and I’ve noticed much of the same. If you’re asking my humble opinion, I believe that BladeTech is the best steel on the market currently. And this is coming from a guy who thought Step Steel BlackSteel was the best for years. And Step is definitely better than those other options you mentioned. Here’s why BladeTech is the best. It’s tall steel but not as tall as Step. This keeps the turning radius that you like but reduces the wobbly feeling you get with new Step Steel because of how tall it is. The toe and heel of BladeTech is more radiused and requires less effort to profile and allows you to just skate. It has a spring system in the toe area. BladeTech says it makes you faster but really the main benefit is that it take pressure off feet, ankles, knees and hips which is important to me because I have two replaced hips. Lol. Lastly, the actual steel is much harder than that of Step or anyone else. This just means that the edge sticks around a lot longer. The price is also the same as Step Steel BlackSteel. It’s $160 with the black DLC finish. If you want more info, I have a guy in Pennsylvania who I could put you in touch with. He’s one of my channel sponsors.

    I have skated Custom+, Prolite 3, Externo, E-Pro, Graf NT3/5000, and now this Powerfly. This Powerfly is by far the worst holder I have ever skated on. In my opinion, the E-Pro was my favorite. @@Chrissy1011 So I actually think the trigger 7 pro is a better stick than the one I have. I keep breaking 75 flex sticks so I decided to jump up to an 85 flex. Unfortunately, I need to cut my sticks because I’m 5’10” and that pretty much turned it into a one million flex. Lol. What I’ve learned is that I need to stick with a 75 flex in low and hybrid kick point sticks, but can jump up to 80 flex in the supertacks line. With all of that said, I really like the potential that the 7pro has. I’m typically a supertacks guy but I might transition to the trigger 8 pro if it feels good. I’m having trouble with the shaft dimensions on the ASV pro.

I had a positive experience with the Mach but I’m leaning toward the FT6 Pro. More comfort, more padding, better performance and better steel quality. The only things the Mach has going for it is that it’s lighter and blacked out if you like that look. Idk who said the Mach was very stiff.. I get it’s the top of the line boot but I always thought the ultrasonic and Mach lost some stiffness from the 2s Pro.. if they were stiffer I’d have liked them more. Keep me posted on your decision. I initially went for the ft6 pro as I wanted to try something new ( I never had ccm before) and ask the shop to warm the Oven until I pulled my scale out! 798g for the mach and 890g for the ft6 pro. The hyperlite 2 came at 820g in 6.5. 90g on one foot this is a big difference! maybe wrongly I changed my mind and went for the mach!

      Wow, crazy experience there. Are you going to keep both the hyperlite and Hzrdus 9 or keep one/return the other? Yes, all skates with the stock insole feel flat footed until I put in the Speedplates or superfeet. I agree with you, too much flex on the FT6P tendon guard. At least for skates where agility and quickness are the priority, the tendon should have little flex. Just enough so the tendon doesn’t tear (used 1x skates). I felt the FT6 Pro was too stiff for me before I broke them in 😂 also both of my pairs are the same height, though the back of the ccm dips down a bit. I’m glad you found skates that you enjoy! 👏

There are extremely few hockey equipment review channels (if any) out there besides our channels that are doing actual reviews and comparisons. I just wanted to say that I think you're onto something with your comparisons and direction of your channel. This video in particular is great at helping adult rec players understand that there's actually significant differences between Bauer and CCM skates, so great job! I'm trying to build a small network of real equipment reviewers and it looks like your channel might be heading in that direction. Let me know if you're interested in any type of collaboration effort or to just bounce ideas off of. Did you bake the FT6 Pro skates or just used them right of the box? If so, did you notice any additional volume in the boots after baking? The reason I ask is because I know they have that "game ready" fit. I wasn't sure if it meant they are kind if pre-broken in. I have the FT6 Pros that are borderline too snug. I went a half size smaller than normal because they felt noticably bigger than the FT4 Pro volume-wise (went from a 8w to 7.5w). I am hoping that baking will add a tiny bit more volume to the FT6 Pro.

    • @Chrissy1011
      @Chrissy1011 11 месяцев назад

      Oooh. Good question and interesting situation you have going on there. So I definitely baked these in the store when I got them. I wanted to try that game ready fit but it was too wide and I didn’t want to drive all the way back to the store for just a bake lol. The regular width felt SO wide so I hoped baking would tighten it up, have the boot form to my foot more… and it did but it wasn’t enough 😭 after a month of skating I decided to get the tapered fit, which I did get to try the game ready fit in! I wouldn’t say it feel broken in.. just that the eyelets seem closer to your ankle, like a stock ankle wrap. It felt good on the ice but I immediately thought “I want these baked, a few spots feel weird.” Ever since I baked my MX3s in 2019 I’ve been skeptical about baking.. personally I think the boot softens and cures to the shape of your foot but it may or may not retain the stiffness it had before the baking process. Because of this, I didn’t bake my skates for years until this FT6 pro. It’s definitely a good idea to do so, especially for boots with a higher level of stiffness. I’m curious how things turned out. Please, share an update 😊

      I went from a size 10,5 in AS3 Pro (E, i.e. wide) to 10,0 in FT6 Pro (regular) and agree that the FT6 Pro is quite a snug boot. Don't forget that after a couple of weeks worth of breaking in the skate, the liner is expected to reduce a bit in size and thus provide a bit extra volume, especially in the width, if that's your concern. I used the AS3 Pro skates on average about 5 hours a week, each week, for about 3½ years and if it wasn't for the bottom of the carbon above the heel section of the holder getting soft, I would still have used them today - and if a replacement pair of AS3 Pro were available, I'd opt for that .. f.. amazing skates. The FT6 Pro are heavier, but also more comfortable. I attribute part of the extra weight to the STEP blades, which to me is a significant challenge to adapt to, at least with the standard curve from the factory. I'll need to get another profile on the STEPs as there's too much of a difference from the old black steel XSI blades. I'll also mention that most carbon skates require significant time to break in, even though they're "game ready" from the factory like the FT6 Pros. I'll need to have a spot on the inside of the right boot punched a bit, which was somewhat expected, and I have to be honest that I'm looking forward to the skates being completely broken in a couple of months down the road, but I'm expecting to use them for 3½ years just like the AS3 Pros and as such, it should be well worth the effort.

      @@Chrissy1011 Hi Crissy. Thanks for the response. Sorry for my late reply. So I ended up baking the 7.5W and it definitely widened a bit more and felt good overall. However, the only thing I noticed (compared to my Ribcor 100k's in 8W) is that I am not getting as much upper ankle wrap from the boot. I think it is because the boot is a half size smaller so it has slightly less depth. So it makes me wonder if maybe I should just go back up to an 8 but in regular. You mentioned that when you got your skates they felt too wide so baking helped tighten them? Was this noticeable? The only reason I ask is because when I tried on the 8R, it felt good but there was slight side to side wobble, very slight. So it makes me wonder if I bake them and break them in more that it will wrap more around my foot and then "tighten up", and then having that bit of extra depth in the boot as well at the upper ankle area. Lastly, I know you've been testing the Hyperlite 2's as well. Which skate did you end up with in the end? Thanks! Happy Holidays!

    This was a solid review with a great comparison. For what I do the ft6 being heavy makes it feel more durable when landing hard, but only time will tell. Mind if I ask where you get your music from?

      Hi! Thanks for your comment😊 OMG, yes. I thought of that as well, you are correct. I felt a boost in confidence while skating in the ft6 pro. Just well protected and grounded👏 I don’t mind at all! Lately I’ve been getting music from RUclips. Free soundtracks. Something chill. I try to choose something the viewers will hopefully enjoy but something I can bop to while editing lol

    How does the mach compares to the hyperlite 2? I tried the hyperlite 2 but the plastic eyelets stitching was rubbing badly against my ankle to the point I had to return them

      Hey! So strangle the Mach fits me better/I like the way it fits my foot more than a vapor skate. It’s very comfortable. The eyelets shouldn’t rub like the Hyperflex eyelets. It has a better wrap than the Hyp2rlite.

      Hi! So the step steel had great bite at 7/16, which is what I usually get. The Fly-Ti would have needed a 3/8 to get the same bite. I felt faster in FT6 Pro because I was able to dig in and push whereas I was slipping on the same cut in the hyp2rlites. On the other hand, the Hyp2 has a more forward pitch and it’s lighter so others may feel faster in that over the FT6 Pro. To directly answer your question I’m going to have to say Hyp2rlite because I always felt the weight of the Ft6 Pro. 👍😊
