How to drive a mini truck on the BEACH…
While vacationing, taking some much needed time off in the Outer Banks of North Carolina…we stopped by to see a mini truck customer from a couple years back. He is in the business of beach chair rentals and frequently drives his mini truck on the sand, which is allowed at the northern end of the island! He gives some valuable pointers on what to do and how to do it, without getting stuck…EVER! Thanks for watching our video :-)

Now you have spoiled me. Love it but I want ac.
Have fun sailing! We're in WNC and will be purchasing a mini truck from your business within the next couple of months. Just torn on which one is best for working and such on the mountain here. Personally I have been driving Suzuki vehicles since 2004. Been very reliable. Either way we will be in touch with whoever is running the business when we get our ducks in a row.
Nice video of the Sambar. I want one.
Best Surprise visit ever!!!! Thank you again for stopping by. We enjoyed you guys coming by!!! Ps I need a van lol
Where’d you get your drip guards? I need a new one and I like those.
I'm thinking that they came with the truck...Drew, did they come with the KEI when we delivered it to you?
@@minitrucks no, they weren't on it when I got it. I had seen others w them and did some research on how to find them. Kinda hard to find now a days
Love the red Honda!
Thank you for watching our video and for your comment about the Honda...Tell me about it! That was such a nice truck:) Someone already jumped on it...
@@minitrucks I’ll be in Myrtle Beach in a few months. Does Honda make an automatic with AC? Does it matter, manual/auto for longevity of reliability? Thank you for the videos. Love these trucks.
Many people are looking into down sizing, seeing that mini trucks can haul just as much as a full size truck and use 1/4 the fuel.
Is the Hiace considered a mini truck for registration? What is need in a truck to get it out of the MT catogory? Thank you
Hello and thank you for your question! Great question indeed...The Hiace is a full size truck and therefore is not considered a "mini" or "KEI truck" which are synonymous terms.
Thats way more than the 350kilos limit
How often are you guys able to get ahold of the larger Kei trucks like the Hiace?
Thank you for watching our video...we get the Hiace in about once probably every four or five weeks. Lately we have had them in a little bit more frequently:)
Wow kei trucks and vans are getting imported like crazy
That's because our utv prices are so outrageous, people would rather buy these for their farms and hunting etc.
Let us add that KEI trucks are also superior to the side by side in just about every way...thank you for your comment!
True true...thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and for your comment!
Tony -- I really hope you continue your RUclips posts on this sailing thing to share your lega-sea with your subscribers. I know you're a kind of renninsance -trend setter type so I really hope to see you sporting a Greek fisherman's cap soon. I'm not totally averse to that British helmet as it could come in handy if you were walking under a tree full of monkeys eating watermelon. Best of luck to you Skipper!
Hi Brian, thank you for watching and for your pertinent comments! I don the pith helmet while sailing also. For some reason I cannot shake it. We did a survey and a sea trial yesterday on a Gozzard 37a. I wore the British Pith helmet the whole time and it did NOT blow off! I wonder if it would be appropriate for me to put a video on the MMT channel of me while on the boat?
@@minitrucks Tony -- don't worry about it. It just possibly stems from a deep-seated subconcious desire you had as a child to be a letter carrier when you grew up. (That may also explain why you chose to become a dealer in RH-drive vehicles.) Seriously, I found myself looking forward to your delivery videos and as I found them very entertaining as well as informative e.g. bee keeping, train horns and so on and would love to see some of your ports of call in the future. I apologize in advance for this somewhat amusing, not very "pithy" and highly impertinent comment (I could not stop myself) regarding the choice of possible nautical headgear: a Bombay bowler or a variation thereof could come in handy if one finds themself trapped below deck and has to take a pith. Insofar as the approriateness of being posted on the MMT channel -- won't this boat be a marketing expense for MMT or as its off-site employee team-building venue? Brian '97 Sambar
Duncan Imports in Christiansburg, VA imports a bunch of those.
And they relist them for 5x the value. They sit on stock for a long time.
@@ktraughb ok
Duncan imports is not a bad company...I have respect for the owner:)
@@minitrucks didn't say bad company. Just high prices.
@@ktraughb Thanks for the reply...I'm glad that you're with us:)
Cynthia is awesome 🙂
Yep...she is fun to be with. Looking forward to seeing evidence of this homemade pizza she's floating. We'll have to come floating up ourselves first to her marina:)
Do any of the Sambars have AC? What is your price for them?
Thank you for watching and for your question about A/C. From time to time they come with A/C but it is something you see infrequently. The price varies based on what we pay for it in Japan. A Subie with A/C might be $7,600 or it might be a unicorn with A/C meaning that it is a beautiful, beautiful truck (and I paid more for it) which might be in the $9,000ish range...
I'd like to know the DATES on the tires... you've never given that info.
Thank you for watching and for your question...I don't look for the dates on the tires in this video because it would make an already long video even longer:) That said, if you have a question about something specific, be sure to reach out to us and we'll be happy to provide you with answers to any questions that you have! Thanks again
Sir the one truck with the dents all over it, really isn’t that bad but really it’s difficult to find any state side cars that start here that is that good.
Ugggh, I appreciate you saying so...I almost need mini truck therapy after reviewing that one! Thank you for watching and for your generous game day report about our vehicles:)
Here's the thing: the firetrucks are the most time-capsule-pristine trucks in Japan. They are barely used, they've been garaged every day of their lives, and they've been maintained better than if the manufacturer had kept it for themselves. But the beds are always messed up with the fire truck equipment. This here (the Acty) is a fire truck with a standard, un-effed bed. If I did not already have my own Acty, I would not be typing this, I would be calling Tony. This is the truck you want! This is not a drill! GoGoGo!
Hi and thanks for your insightful comments! Everything you said is spot on about the fire trucks. This Honda sold in a nanosecond for the reasons that you alluded to.
Sorry on the side
It says Good Day on the back of that Suzuki
No kidding? That is so cool...thank you for your feedback on this:)
The paper tag on the turn signal says the following. This vehicle is equipped with an airbag. Please be sure to wear your seatbelt. Please see the instruction manual for details. Please remove this label after delivery.
Wow!! Thanks for the intelligence:) We appreciate it when someone comes along side and adds value...
Mayberry Mini yachts coming soon...
I like those snowball bushes she has
Yes, there were several beautiful flowers all around. Those ones that you see might be hydrangeas.
Any chance on getting one in dual cab?
If I was to ever get a smaller truck I would want a Hiace.
Yep, they are so nice indeed… Thank you for watching our video!
Hey can you guys get ahold of some kei campers?
Thank you for watching our video. We do not have any KEI Camper tops on the way…
I’ve been wondering this myself. Those little kei truck campers are so cool. It’s a full on camper. Not just a camper shell.
Yes, they are full on campers...not a shell. They are also extremely expensive. I cannot get myself to buy something with high miles (for good reason) so that only adds to the statospheric price range of a camper.
And zero crash survivability..make sure you have long term care insurance when your a vegitable the rest of your life for a minor accident...
Zero crash survivability..good luck
Nice truck
Thank you Marc for watching our video and for your kind comment:)
Can yall get newer models in? We just got a large property in flagstaff az, theyre legal on reg road and everywhere except freeway/highway. theyre treated and insured like my sxs haha. Was thinking maybe a 2020 van 4x4, with rear camera. Run errands in town, stop by nursery and tractor supply. Maybe something I can camp out in on land, esp when I start working on fencing, I like to stay out and star gaze, cook. Are you guys able to get the camper trucks in? like bug truck of tarbow japan, their box truck rear hijet trucks are amazing, have 2, one is kept over there at our ranch. Would love one in AZ as we get stuff off the ground. those bug truck campers are roomy and very useful, so thought id ask. maybe others stateside would want one too.
Been friends with Darren since High school. Can't wait to check this thing out!
Surry county at its finest 😂😂😂
Hi Tom, thank you for watching our video! You know, the little preamble in this video was unrehearsed...in case you needed me to state the obvious! Thank you again for watching:) If anyone wants to go to the best campground in NC; check out Jomeokee campground in Pinnacle...
I wish they would legalize them here in Texas. Around here you cant make them street legal, only use on private property.
You have no idea how much I wish I could have one.
Old k trucks are very cheap in Japan..
Tony can you make a series of videos on a separate play list of general video over each style of truck describing the basic features of each like I know one brand has the engine cover toward the rear of the truck bed , one the engine is completely under the cab and another halfway between the cab and the bed. It would be helpful for potential customers also explaining how to source everyday parts like filters lights and tires if it’s from a local parts store type part or if it has to be ordered either from somewhere here in North American or if it has to be imported. Also it would be nice to have past customers my s as ke suggestions on upgrades they done and how they got or made the parts to do it. It e would likely bring more traffic to your channel and therefore bring more customers
Love it!
What year is the hiace? Thanks.
Are these legal in ky
I like that heavy truck very nice hi Ace
Why 5w30 synthetic oil? Not trying to be rude or anything just asking because I hear the community will go wirh 10W30 typically not synthetic either. I'm more curious about what the reasoning is to try to understand it. Thanks Tony and the others at Mayberry for all you guys do
Thanks for watching! That’s a great question. The mini truck only holds 2.6 quarts of oil. The tolerance is so tight on the engines that switching to synthetic oil does not cause leaking to begin. 5W 30 versus 10 W 30 is a personal decision based on the type of driving you do and the surrounding environment. Synthetic oil is far superior in its lubricity than conventional engine oil. While it is more expensive, it is superior… thanks for the great question :-)
GOTTA LOVE A HIACE!!!! SWEET!!!!
Oh, I was waiting for the Toyota after the last review. I think it’s the one bigger than the kei trucks. At 6’5 I believe that I would fit better.
True, true they will be a better fit for somebody who is taller.
I want the fire truck! A guy can dream…
Hello Mr Tony. Hope you are doing great. My name is Hosea Sana Babanyara from Nigeria. Recently i had a leading to go into mini truck transportation business. For a long time ago i had a vision to go transportation. I am love with Hijet products. Thank you sir
When are you guys gonna start bringing in those 6th gen mini trucks?? They're just becoming legal in America, I hope more start coming into the states soon!
Hey there, thank you for watching our video! We are currently able to import and get titles for 1999 and older:) Let us know if we can be of assistance...Tony/MMT

Ha! Thank you:) Thank you also for your thoughtful letter that you mailed to me. I read it the day before yesterday. I appreciate you taking the time to write me and share your thoughts and prayers...Tony/MMT
I wish your dealership/shop was near me. I am in Phoenix and no one here knows how or wants to work on the mini trucks. I have a 97 Acty and recently took it to a shop that has done work for me on other vehicles. They did get it running but they kept the truck for 2 months and only worked on it here and there when they weren't busy. They did get it running but it turned out to be an issue with sporadic power to the fuel pump so they finally did what I was going to do and suggested when I took it to them and that is to run an independent 12V line from the ignition to the fuel pump and by pass the relay. I had already replaced the relay and while they had it they said it needed a new carb so I bought a used one from Japan. Then they said it needed a new distributor so I ordered and paid for one from Japan. They finally got it running when they did like I suggested and ran a direct wire to the fuel pump. So after buying all those parts for them, it cost me $1300 and then when I got the truck home I had to spend most of today rerouting the vacuum lines they they connected wrong, even though I provided them pictures and screenshots of how the lines were routed. They didn't even connect the line to air solenoid. So, if you ever decide to open a shop in Phoenix, I will be your first customer!
i am curious on which kei vehicle i should buy as i am looking at picking one up soon as a daily. I'm about a 20 minute drive from work which is all highway however the speed limit is only 100kph meaning as long as i stick to the right lane i can stay at 80kph and let traffic pass me. I was wondering if anyone knows what RPM's the following vehicles sit at around 80kph which i am looking at buying: Honda Acty van, Honda Acty truck, and the Mitsubishi Bravo (as they're Turbo'ed).
Do you import Dihatsu Mira walkthroughs ?
Title says Suzuki Carry but truck is a Hijet. Maybe the title was for a different video? Anyway, I enjoy gaining some of Tony's knowledge on these trucks. Keep up the good work
