Can't help noticing the bassoon image is wrong. The tenor joint should be to the right of the long joint 🙁

I'm so glad you were able to get John on the pod; he's such a fountain of valuable information! I keep telling him he needs to write three books: an autobiography, a technical nerdy oboe book on the instrument and reeds (which should come in volumes like the old encyclopedias used to) and lastly a tell-all, because you KNOW that man has some stories to tell...YOU KNOW he does!

Chris is the nicest human! I told him my woodwind ensemble was working on one of his arrangements and he RESCORED it for my exact group! I was completely floored. His arrangements for woodwind chamber groups are fantastic...!

Awesome interview....as always. Loved hearing all about the Le Basson - Daryn has inspired me over the years with his research and presentations. I own 2 French bassoons, one actually is playable, not that I can play it. Excellent comments about selecting a teacher in a purposeful way. I also have a "Kurt Masur screamed at me..." story which feels awful at the time but turns out to be just another in the long line of people who have been yelled at by him.

Thank you! A must hear for oboe enthusiasts and music lovers. What a pleasure to hear all those experiences, insights, wisdom and advice from Sherry Sylar herself in this interview (Which begins in the 17th or so minute.) and how to learn more about her work at www.sherrysylar.com I greatly appreciate the comprehensive questions you asked in a manner that was so fluid and feeling organic. I learned a lot and feel enriched from listening. All best wishes for your ongoing support of the double reed community. KJP

I love that: feedback is not criticism. This so hard for young musicians who, rather quickly in their development, attach ego to their musical accomplishments.
