Hollows are not at all for shotguns. You got bird shot, buck shot and slugs (there are some dragon breath shells too). For some rounds in handguns/rifles you can get hollows which come in 9mm, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62 etc. A hollow is just a type of bullet.. you got blanks, field rounds, target rounds, regular degular home defense soft point rounds.. then you got AP, hollows, FMJ, JHP, frangible, ballistic tip etc which all have a diff purpose when it comes to stopping power, aerodynamics and whatnot.... both shotguns and cartridge type ammos both are more complicated than that even, there is different sizes for the shotty ammo like you got different "shots" 1 shot, 2 shot, 3 shot, 4 shot, 5, all the way to 9 and 9 being the most BBs but smallest as well... thats for bird shot, buck shot and slugs have their own seperate types as well but im not as familiar w them. I know you got regular slugs and rifled slugs but i know theres more n im sure theres more than just double aught buck shot. Theeeennnnn you got actual shell size which come in either 2.5", 2.75", 3", 3.5". For the cartridges yes you can change the tip but you can also change the wad and casing.. literally everything about it pretty much except dimentions. Ammunition goes preeetty in depth lmao. I barely scratched the surface w info but at least now you know that hollow points are not for shotguns lol.
