    Do you recommend Red Queen and Looking Glass by Christina Henry?

    • @KEckert
      @KEckert Месяц назад

      Yes, all the Chronicles of Alice books are very good. The final book in that series "Looking Glass" is a collection of novellas rather than a full book, but it provides some nice closure to the original duology and also some excellent background on some of the main characters.

    8:03 I'm reading Lost Boy and I couldn't agree more with your take! It is moving so slow... I don't feel like reading it anymore quite frankly! Which book by Christina Henry would you recommend?! Is Alice a good one?

      My favorite Christina Henry books are "The Girl in Red" and the Chronicles of Alice ("Alice" and "The Red Queen". "Lost Boy" was my least favorite book by her. Here's a link to all my reviews for Christina Henry books: hiddeninpages.com/tag/christina-henry/

    You must read "Alice's adventures under water" by Lenny de Rooy. It came out in 2021 and it's a spiritual sequel to the original books because she wrote it in the same style as Lewis Carroll and used illustrations very similar to that of John Tenniel 😃

    I just started mine and received this box, I still think it’s a good deal for price - will see what the next box holds ..apparently they aren’t sending any more tea ware :(

    • @KEckert
      @KEckert 2 года назад

      I hope you enjoy the tea. I stopped doing the subscription boxes this year because I really don't like stevia in my tea and about half of the teas they send always have that. I think they do have some different options to choose from this year though. I am still buying a lot of tea both from Adagio tea and from David's Tea. I think Adagio is a bit cheaper and has a more engaging community but David's does come up with some more creative blends and has better tea gear. Anyway, I hope you like your next subscription box too! Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂

    • @erinm2180
      @erinm2180 3 года назад

      @@KEckert Its the only reason i signed up this summer to try it. I wasn't brave enough to fork out the whole wad up front. I've been enjoying the fall and winter (summer was ice tea so not my fav). I cancelled mine after my winter box so i could see spoilers for spring first. They changed it again - now there will be 4 different ones to choose from so i want to see whats in each one so i can pick before i sign up again. I'll probably be how i go forward with the sub if i do. Cancel, see spoilers, pick (or decide not to) and then cancel again, hahaha. Have you seen the new options yet?

    • @KEckert
      @KEckert 3 года назад

      @@erinm2180 I was just looking at it. I like that they let you pick a caffeine free one since I don't drink a lot of caffeinated tea. Not sure if I will do it again, but do like that it's less commitment. Nice that they started a community facebook page too. I really like Agadio's monthly tea box though so I will probably do that one; it's pretty cheap and you get a different type of tea for each day and then you can go and review and talk about it in their Communitea (which is super active). Some of the blends in Adagio's box are user made and then you can order more of any of them. So many great tea places to choose from :-) Maybe I will switch back and forth...

    • @erinm2180
      @erinm2180 3 года назад

      @@KEckert yeah, i drink mainly caffeine free too but always find that black teas have such better blends so i definitely have to check spoilers but would most likely opt for the caffeine free subscription. I've never had Adigio tea! I've always wanted to try it but I'm overwhelmed on the site and don't know what to order. Any favorites of yours?

    • @KEckert
      @KEckert 3 года назад

      @@erinm2180 I started out with some of the their sampler boxes. They have a lot of very nice rooibos teas, which I really enjoy. Their communitea box you get by the month and you get a different tea to try each day. I think it's only $17 per month, so that was the other way I tried a lot of their teas. Adagio isn't as flashy as David's they don't put candies and stevia in their teas and they packaging is more basic, but I really enjoy their herbal and rooibos ones. They also have a very loyal fan base that has a lot of discussion about what teas you can blend to make other great teas.

    I immensely enjoyed K.W. Jeter's, "Infernal Devices." It was written in the mid-80s, and thirty years later, a couple of sequels were added to it, but it easily stands as a standalone novel. This isn't to be confused with the YA novel, Infernal Devices, of five or seven years ago, which was a different book entirely. Jeter's ID has it all, Victorian England, strange inventions, secret societies, a guy who inherits a clock shop, what's not to love? Jeter is credited as having coined the term "steampunk." Nice recommendations. Rock on!

We still wore masks even though we are vaccinated though in the stores. It had been a long time since have been in restaurants as well and went to quite a few while on vacation, which felt a little weird but felt nice to do at the same time. Hey! I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about My Dark Vanessa. It is deeply disturbing, but I think it's worth the read. it's still raining and dreary here. Nowhere as bad as below zero, but still everyone is tired and no one really want to do anything. Good news : my parents have their appointment for the vaccine this coming week! Hope you have a good reading week and I'm looking forward to your "how do I read so much" video.~ Melinda

      Happy to hear your parents are getting their vaccine soon! I hope it goes well for them. I have heard that My Dark Vanessa is a very uncomfortable but super good read, I am looking forward to it. Hopefully you will be out of the rain and get some sun soon, we are going to be bitterly cold for awhile. It was -14oF this morning and the "real feel" was -30oF...ugh. You can't even walk down the driveway to get your mail without have to put on some serious winter gear. Hope you have a good week too! Take Care :-) - Karissa

    Hey! Hurray for your parents getting the vaccine! My parents are tier one but they have not been notified yet. Things are moving slowly here in SC. I'm not sure when we will get ours. We are trying again to cruise to the British Isles in September but it is looking iffy at this point. You should come see the Smoky Mountains. They are not as tall and spectacular as the ones out west, but they are beautiful. It's a relaxing place. We are considering camping up there during the summer since it will be much cooler than down here. Have a great week and stay safe!!~ Melinda

      I hope you get to do your cruise, but I agree things are moving slow with the vaccine and not sure how much travel will be back to normal by the fall yet. We've kind of given up on a big trip that involves flying anywhere this year, thinking a road trip might be our best option :-) Hope your parents can be vaccinated soon! Hope you stay safe and have a great week as well!!!

    Hey! Hockey is such a big deal in your son's life, but I think you made the right call. It's just like any other safety precaution you have to take.. Mask and distancing are necessary and can't be taken lightly. I'm glad you guys are getting a chance to get away. We are camping at a nearby state park next weekend and I'm looking forward to it so much. Such crazy times! I couldn't believe that thing at the Capital. It's still hard to grasp. Have a good week. ~Melinda

      Yeah, my son is a bit hard to read, he just kind of rolls with things. However, he was upset the couple times he came home from practice about what was going on there; just made it seem like it wasn't worth it anymore. Very happy that you are getting a chance to go camping, I hope you have a great time!!! Hope you have a great week as well :-) - Karissa
