The HEART of the ALPUJARRAS: Pampaneira, history and nature
If there’s a part of Granada with its own, unique history away from the Alhambra and Albayzin, that’s definitely the Alpujarras!
Today, I introduce you to Pampaneira, one of my favorite villages that make up the group of ALPUJARRAS in Granada.
If you want a private guided tour to the Alpujarra, send me an email and we will plan it together!

Muy buenas, my friends!! I have managed to find some time to get back to work with my English RUclips channel! On this video, I'll let you know what I've been up to during this time, and also explain everything about PATEANDO GRANADA, the new name of my guiding company, and now, a real TRAVEL AGENCY! Do let me know if you liked this new format, as the only reason I'm making these videos is to m...
The authentic Albaicin: home of the zirids. The origins of Granada on a route across its viewpoints
Muy buenas, my friends! I'm excited to introduce to you one of the most popular spots of Granada: the moorish town of the Albaicín. However, this will be a different tour, as we won't visit the most popular sights. We are going to chase the footprints that the zirids, the first moors that settled here, left in the Albaicín in the 1000s. I will also give you screnshots of the route I always do w...

Muy buenas, my friends! Summer is hitting strong in Granada, so Roberto and I are taking you to a place we know about that will help you get by if you happen to be around here during the summertime. We will explore an old roman quarry and after that, we'll cool ourselves down heading straight into my favorite "pantano", the Cubillas reservoir! Zawi Ibn Ziri is the founder of Granada?
Beautiful!! I am interested in visiting Alpujarrah villages and the rest of Andalusia next year may be. Will contact you so that you can be my guide.
The Zirids is an Algerian DINASTY who ruled North Africa and Founded Granada 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
The overall Whitewash-effect is not al that appealing to me. In Morocco, one sees beautiful trimming in blues, yellow and red. I see some here and there, but - not enough. It looks somewhat impoverished - and the ubiquitous graffiti really stands-out! I know that some of the Carmens are quite exotic, and opulent inside the walls, I was here for a few days...about 46 years ago! I remember the cool mountain air, and the smell of Jasmine! Granada is a beautiful city - but all that white, and the newer "Box" buildings are a bit of an Eye-sore. My favorite area is Realejo. It has a very nice atmosphere, as well!
Zirids 🇩🇿 ♥️ so proud
as an Algerian, I'm very fascinated by what my ancestors did ❤ I will definitely visit Spain as soon as possible to discover Grenada even more
How wonderful, thank you, regards.
Excellent work, Marta. Enjoyed from the very beginning to the end.
Zirides ❤️🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
Viva Las Alpujarras!

Hello Marta! I’m trying email you for our tour on Friday.
Is it the ziridz hou build Alhambra
¡Me encantó! This is one of the few videos I found about the Torre de Romilla. I'm bummed at how much I missed when I still lived en la vega... Again, super grateful for your videos!
Good job on this one, y me encantó 'conocer' a Pepi, jaja... Keep these videos coming! You have a new subscriber now, thanking you from her new home in New Mexico 🥰
Thanks so much, Nathalie!! I’m finding it hard to find some time for the videos, but I promise I will keep trying to post more content about Granada!
@@pateandogranadaseries4413 whenever you can!
Saludos.
Saludos amigo!
Garden of Paradise. :)
Totally… the views, the orchards, the birds, the water… ✨
Moors are not from the Middle East
You are doing great, keep it up!!! I think you will be interested in 'Promo sm'!!!
What's the general view that Granadiños have about the Catholic monarchs and their reconquista in 1492 and the end of the Moorish rule? I've heard differing points of view. I feel bad for the Jewish and Muslim people who were oppressed after that. It might be due to the viewpoints of authors whose books I've read, of course. 😊
Hi Anni! It’s actually very complex… we are very proud of our origins and celebrate our past, but I guess that includes the take of Granada. It’s complicated 😅 would you like to see a video about the last days of Granada as a Muslim kingdom?
@@pateandogranadaseries4413, oh, I definitely would like to see a video about it. 😊
¡Que rrrrrrricoooooo!🫠
Muchas gracias Marta! I discovered you through James of Spain Reveals and since I will be in Granada this Feb. I want to know as much as possible about the city and what to do while there. I am making Granada my base and from there also explore other areas like Malaga, Cordoba, Cadiz, etc. I would also like to explore a local vineyard. Any suggestions?
Gracias Virginia!! Send me an email at guidemartasanchez@gmail.com and I will send you all the information your need for your Granada trip 😃
We will be there in October of 2023! Be in touch!
Would love to show you around here Melinda!! 😃

Wonderful! I love the Apujarras! The history is so rich in that region. I didn't know about Paseo Federico Garcia Lorca before.
It’s one of the most charming corners 😍😍

the first king on grenada was a zirid in the name of zaoui ibn ziri first the people of alvera welcomed him and because of the attacks he suggested to the people of alvera to build a more secure city, later leaves grenada towards tunis with these zirid cousins, too bad they poisoned him
Another Gem Marta. Another place on my list to visit. Thank you for sharing
Thanks dear friend! This one is also near your home!

Zirids 🇹🇳
How!! .. they're from algiers...the first zirid capital was achir before they concore tunisia
SOooo glad to see you back! Great video and, even though I like to think I know Granada, you showed me something I didn’t know. We come to Granada yearly - about 5-6 weeks each time. We are VERY invested in this community. I realize you’re doing very professional short videos now. And, as someone who know there are LOTS of videos already about Granada, you want to show us the places we don’t know about. I would love to see a video about your favorite tapas bars. Perhaps, they are the same as everyone else’s (Los Diamontes, Los Manuelas, etc.). But I would like to explore further - places like La Pujuana, Taberna Malvasia, La Sitarilla have NEVER been on anyone’s video. Every tourist pretty much hangs out around Plaza Nueva but there is SO much more to Granada - and you are showing us the Gems. Thank You!!
What a great feedback, Tom!! Thank you so much! I really hope that my videos help you discover more hidden corners of Granada - as a local myself, I keep discovering things literally every week. We are lucky to have Granada in our lives 🥰 PS. What a great selection of tapas bars you made!! Regarding that video you suggest, I have to tell you that there’s something pretty big in the oven about this subject…🤫🤫
north africa algeria
Fun! 😁
Thank you Anni! 😁😁
So nice to see you back here again. And a very nice video. Short, but informative. 😊
Thanks my friend! Yes, that’s the idea. Hopefully this is just the beginning! 🤗
Thank you for this Marta. Yet another Gem . Will share. Good luck with your venture .
It’s a pleasure to see you are still around here, Steve!! Thanks so much for your support, more things are yet to come 🤩
Marta, the video is FANTASTIC!! Looks great. Sounds great! Ties in perfectly with your new business! I am very proud of you. Looking forward to the next videos!
Our most loyal follower 🥰🥰 thanks for always supporting us, Randy!! I’ll hang in there and hopefully this is just the beginning of a new adventure 💪🏼
